Thank you! We get homeless trespassers all the time at my apt complex. Middle of the night dumpster diving and making a mess. Called the city. Everything you showed in this video is EXACTLY perfect for our problem. Its only been a week, and already the homeless guys have vanished. Yay❗
Those plastic lids can still be opened by determined dumpster divers. Had it happen just last night. Both lids were full open with the lock bar locked and still in place. The hobos just pull and pry on the plastic lid until it flexes out of the way of the bar. About a month ago a hobo jumped on the lid until it fell into the bin. I would mind dumpster divers if they didn't leave a mess, but they always leave a mess.
@@morissabuckminster4241 Yes they do. Always they leave a mess. More recently, like a month ago, a hobo stole the metal bar that the lids hinge on. He broke the welded nut on the end of the bar lose, and stole the whole bar. These hobos are crazy.
These can help bear-proof the dumpster. When not locked, the bear can lift the lid (partially) and get inside. When locked, it is harder for them to get leverage between the dumpster and the lid. However, the plastic lids are not completely bear proof. A 300 lb black bear in our mountain neighborhood will climb on top and bounce/rock/pound until one of the lids collapses. If you have bears, get the dumpster with the steel lid.
Sanitation dept of your city installs it and about 3.95 /mos added to your water & sanitaton bill. You put the padlocks on yourself. Get the kind with a key not a combination lock. We lock.ours up at 8pm and keep the lids down of coursem. In the am around 9, I unlock them still keep lids down .No more "dumpster divers " leaving a mess. They hate it. We love it❗
Talk to a supervisor. Our sanitation trucks have no problem mptying the dumpster that's got a PADLOCK ON THE LOCKBAR. Thats the whole point. You are secure, and your city sanitation truck can do their job.
Hmm. Talk to your account rep to make sure everyone is on the same page. A lock on a dumpster will prevent the service provider from collecting your waste... But, a lock WITH the gravity bar system allows for "Keyless" collection. Also please note we are not Waste Management. We are Homewood Disposal Service.
So we have a bar too and the neighbors pull the top hard enough for it to be open to toss their trash. I am so annoyed. Any advice? The dumpster company I use said it is the only bar they offer. I use Rubicon in Dallas, TX.
The divers that come on our property figured out how to open the lids by bending the rod in the back snd getting the lid unter the lock bar. So, jokes on us. The lids need to be metal or something for this to work. Still trying to find a solution to this problem.
Thanks Tamar, We have not heard of that bending problem with our lock bar solution here in the Chicago area. If they are bending the metal rod just access your waste, that's a VERY determined person!
Too bad you won't spend the money on some metal lids so they can't bend them and get around that bar. Or design the bar so that it doesn't have any give to it
Hi Stephanie, We don't sell the lockbar or gravity lock system individually. Homewood Disposal is a garbage company and the lockbars are an option with our weekly commercial garbage service. We serve Chicago Illinois and NW Indiana area. Other garbage haulers in the United States sometimes offer this lock bar system as an option.
This doesn't work at all, they just take the nut off the back bar, slide out the hinge bar and toss you're doors or you will loose you're doors on the next dump cause the trash man isn't going to get them out of his truck. Now you're stuck with a bigger problem. Re-do this video and fix the hinge issue as well.
Wow, you really have some intense and dedicated trash divers/trespassers. The lock bar system has worked for hundreds of our customers here in Chicagoland and NW Indiana. If your a customer of ours, give us a call and let's work on a new solution together. Sorry to hear about your issues, best wishes.

Glad our video helped you.
Sweet thanks for the tips! You guys are so amazing and helpful!
Our pleasure! Happy to help guide customers.
You guys are the best!
That’s easy, side doors are what I need to lock !!!

Do they throw stuff outside your dumpsters???

Nice one! Very helpful!

Oh wow! Yeah, we don't have many 300 lb black bears bouncing on our dumpster lids out in the Chicago / NW Indiana area. Mainly raccoons.
Cool
Nice video
So... All I have to do is roll the dumpster. Gotcha. 😏
Roll the dumpster? Your garbage truck driver usually takes care of all that on pick up day.
Hi! Helpful video thanks :) Where can I buy a dumpster lock like this?

Is it possible to bend the plastic as to maneuver it from under the bar?
Not from our experience. The plastic lids are too rigid to bend.
Not on ours. The bar is nice and sturdy and so is the thick plastic lid. This system works exactly like the video says.
WM just sent an email to us saying they couldnt pick up the garbage because there's a lock on it

Put a camera up and file a police report when you get a video of them doing it
Don’t want people in need getting into your precious garbage.
This should help 'windproof' the lids also...
Good point! Yes, It does solve the problem of lids blowing over in very windy areas.
Does it close/lock again , after placed back down from truck?
Yes. The dumpster remains locked after the waste is dumped inside the truck and lowered back to the ground.
what if stays open position?@@Mydisposal

Let me know if you find a solution to that because they keep getting on ours too
i need one of those, i have someone dumping pet waste in mine

Okay but how I can I buy it

My bar lock is in the front

@@Mydisposal We had to fix it with a 5th wheel trailer ball lock, go figure that one out.
These are useless! I can pry open the poly lids in 30 seconds! Lids need to be steel !!!
Q: what happens when the polish guy stops paying his garbage bill?
A: they stop delivering.
