I put the Max4 in my K8 a while back when the max4's were released. Running 12s in the k8 has been very problematic. Even with upgraded MC2 and vitavon parts, drive shafts etc. The truck can't handle the power and has been breaking parts like crazy. You sure can't bash it like you did when Running 8s. I also used the same ebay esc mounting plate. It works great!

It's really funny, your setup is almost identical to mine. I ordered the same 6s batteries a while back on of Amazon. They were ofering a $20 off coupon for the set. The people selling the batteries are great to do business with. I had one battery have an issue and they sent out a whole new set. I have the same esc mount, motor etc. I am running a 33T pinion gear and 39T spur at this time. The max4 on punch 10 is really hard to drive because the punch level doesn't hit right away. There's a few seconds of delay. The xlx2 actually has more throttle response and pop on 8s. Like I said in my previous post, the running gear parts, drive shafts, diff gears etc are something your going to need a lot of. My truck eats the drive shafts, axles and gears for breakfast. Oh the other thing you almost have to get right away is the aluminum diff cases if you don't have them already. The 12s power will end up snapping the diff case nipples that go into the holes on the main gears. Then the screws will put too much pressure on the main diff gears and wear out the scew holes on the main diff gears. It ends up being a big mess. I also have broke countless teeth off the diff gears at this point. SMH.
Great info. I’ve got Vitavon diff cases in the outcast 8s along with bulkheads. I may have to do the same here. On punch 5 it’s just mild enough (it seems) to be ok but still double backflip. LoL I had to do the diff cups on the O8s because I kept killing them with the XLX2/1100 in there. Also I’ve wasted a bunch of the axle shafts too.
That is some insane power! If anyone complained about the 1/5 scale Arrmas being slow, then they need to go 800kv or lower. They will be singing a different tune.
Finally, something I can stick in my outcast 8s EXB with tons of power that won't explode.
Don't need to tell me when the driving starts, I watch start to finish...very cool Kraton....very nice and neatly done, very simple....I think it will be reliable also...👍

Great vid!! I was running a 400amp flier in my Dbxle 2.0 it had power but I didn’t like it, it wasn’t efficient with the power distribution to me and it was glitchy. Running a max 4 now and it’s a whole different world. Once again great video!
Yeah man the Max4 although expensive, is my favorite big esc.

So the Max4 sensor wire is compatible with the castle 2028 ?
I would not do that because the Max 4 is for Motors with Max 600kv and the 2028 has 800 or 1100kv. Better Use the hobbywing 70125😁🤙

That's funny you mentioned the Yamaha raptor 660 that was the last four quad I have but yeah they're kind of outdated I've got a player sportsman 1000 and I swear that big heavy four wheel drive pulls just as hard as that raptor did
I drove one a few times and that motor had a lot of rpm’s to give.
@@ExocagedRC I assume you're talking about the raptor when you saying a lot of RPMs to give yes for a engine of that size quite a bit RPMs but then again a lot of single cylinder engines will tack pretty high if you want to push them
@@jamesmower1852 back in 1994 i had a 87 quadracer 500 i built for mud bog racing . wisco piston , port and polished the jug , boyseen reeds , flat slide carb , and fmf gold pipe. with a 50 shot of nos it would skim the whole track . only big mod was adding 12 inchs to the swingarm and i ran skat trac v paddles . that motor had it last rebuild in 2006 now it has a 99 artic cat 1000 triple 2stoke kicking 240hp
@@craigengelman4534 I've been riding snowmobiles my whole life when I was 16 years old I had a zrt 600 triple pipes and jetted when I was 13 my dad had a quad racer 500 quadzilla I rode that thing everyday when I was 13 those go pretty good I've wrote a lot of fast machines when I was 18 I had a Kawasaki ZX 1100 Street bike I've had dune buggies with street bike engines dune buggies with snowmobile engines I've had Honda 250R three-wheeler and I had a four wheeler I've rode dirt bike to my whole life there ain't many ATVs dirt bikes that you could mention that I haven't at least drove when I was 12 years old I could strip a whole snowmobile down to nothing nuts and bolts and put it back together in less than 48 hours
@@craigengelman4534 and I never owned a banshee but my buddy owned a banshee that was about 170 horse the road just about anything you can imagine anything from 50cc dirt bikes to heavy machinery

Hey Joe what u think of this mount now after so many months are u still running it?? I got 1 and in 20 mins and less than 5 jumps the screws all backed out between both plates and my max 4 was flopping around. I don't think thus is a very good product for bashing mabey speed running sure can u do a review or do u have some tips of how I can fuse them together other than with zip ties lol!!!

I bought a Kraton EXB 8s with some vitavon parts (installed) from a friend quite cheaply because he gave up the hobby due to lack of time.
He built in the following combo:
Max 5 controllers, 800 kv motor and a pinion of 39:39
The car must have weighed around 25 kg!
So far so good.
I have a Hobao hyper ss with the following combo
Max 8 controllers, 200 kv motor and a 14 pinion.
Weight: 5kg
I want to get to the following: do I want to turn the Kraton into a fast, lively Hobao, of course always in the ratio of 5 kg to 15 kg.
What do you think I should do:
A) if I leave everything the same in the Kraton, drive with 8s and only put in a Max 4 controller with 300 amps... ? Would anything change there?
B) if I put the Max 4 controller in the Kraton and would drive the same motor (800kv), which pinion would be suitable. Main gear: Motor pinion:
C) Max 4 combo with 560 kv motor... pinion?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts/ideas
Main gear depends on if ur bashing with it or want to do speed runs if u want a mild 60-70mph just gear it 23/39
I wish someone would make better axle pins, i break mine all the time. Even using the m2c overkill shafts

Hello can you tell me if the botom of the max4 ESC is made out of aluminum or plastic? Im curious id it radiates heat and is there a benefit of mounting it directly tot he 5ive chassis.

@@ExocagedRC they must have bigger ball ends and engagement pins. I just had a torsional shear twist with my 6S dogbones running on 8S so surprised to see Arrma used such small diameter.
What connectors do you have for the battery and ESC? are you using QS8 or XT90

Can i ask what servo saver you're using Joe? My friend Jake has a Kraton 8s Exb and he's finding it hard to set his steering correctly. I think the stock servo saver is crap and its really hard to set it up right, he always gets a bit more steering to one side despite trying to set the end points several times. Thanks 👍

Yeah. When I got my other Kraton new all the shafts had. Wobble. It’s funny because replacement shafts are straight.

You should see my “spare” esc bin… problem is I don’t know what I’ll build next. There are two XLX2’s in there now…
Lose a ton of power outta brushless motors without being sensored. + motor will not ever reverse from a dead stop to full throttle. (Sucks when that happens during a sanctioned state race clearing a quad🤷♂️)
Yeah I put the sensored in here for that and I wanted to try the adapter plug and it works!

You can do backflips on 4s lol. Tune it so you can punch it and hold it to top speed without a wheelie or tire spin. I can’t help it. I do 0-60 on all setups . Limitless in do 0-100 0-top and 0-top to a stop little footage as possible. Any truck will wheelie. Just stiffen the back pre load. Making to power usable is more entertaining IMO. Badass truck no doubt though. Nice job
