Last month, the bodybuilding world went into a viral sh*tstorm over the reveal that Liver King lied about being all-natural. Through the controversy the question started to emerge, is a bodybuilder liable if they lie about being natural and also sell supplements? Is it misleading customers that the supplements can achieve what steroids achieved on the bodybuilder's body? With a class action lawsuit risen against Liver King after his big lie - Mike O'Hearn does some deep thinking on the topic. In Generation Iron and Barbend's latest episode of The Mike O'Hearn Show, Mike breaks down the difference between misleading customers and common sense.

I am 52 and have been working out since I was 13. I grew watching Hulk Hogan and reading Muscle & Fitness, Flex, Muscular Development magazines and the frying egg on tv! I was a die hard natty until I got diagnosed with ultra low T when I turned 40. The point of the Liver King and "Fake Natty" for me is that I wasted tons of time and money trying to follow the diets and training that was presented to me during the 80's - early 2000's. I got fat- not ripped. No matter how hard I tried, it never happened. I hated myself and figured my work ethic sucked! People selling products and spouting workouts/nutrition to the average person and not being honest about their chemical enhancements are thieves. They are stealing people's hopes and dreams. Making people depressed because they cannot succeed, like the Influencer. Unlike anyone selling a product based on a lie, I have nothing to lose being honest with people. Personally, I think people will flock to honest people... Hell Rich was honest and his products are still selling better than most "fake natty" products...
Why is he so adamant about denying PED/Steroid/HGH use if it's not for the fact he's using that physique to try to sell supplements. Wouldn't he profit more if he actually was honest. Supplements do have their place, sure, and you can vouch for them ...but having a body that was made possible only through the use of PEDs and then saying it's about creating hopes & dreams, isnt that extremely dishonest? Or is that the whole point...
Very good! 100 percent agree! Problem is that he attained it all from ped use. He cruised on test/hgh non stop so it is what it is! But he will go down in history of being the fakest natty of all time!! Lol

Mike O Hearn misses the point about Liver King. People are not mad about what he preaches. It's that he lied straight up multiple times that he didn't take Peds. Liver King has some good points on how to live life. But he lost alot of credibility because he lied.

If you’re selling supplements and use a picture of a bodybuilder who takes steroids or growth hormone to achieve the physique on the products being sold to “the average Joe” like the Liverking did, you’re not telling the buyer the full story of what was required for him to achieve the physique used to sell the products.
If the seller said and advised the buyer to -
Train Correctly
Train hard
Be consistent
Rest
Train mobility
Correct Nutrition
He isn’t lying but he isn’t telling the other vital part of the puzzle which has helped the seller achieve his own goals with the physique used to sell the products which in the liverkings case was the use of PED’s. If he just removed the supplements from the equation and included the PED’s alongside the above he would have a far better advantage in bodybuilding and strength training than he would if he removed the PED’s for most people.
That being said if the liverking products are good for you then he’s not caused any damage to people
Personally Mike I could care less whether you are or are not. However as someone who is 49 and on TRT due to my diabetes and can lift like I'm back in my 20s, I'm finding it's best to be honest about what I'm on because of my responsibility to those younger in the gym and those who are my age about what I've built and dont want them to have a false impression and if they want to know keep it real about it and what they are walking into if they decide to do it. Let's be real, there are those who are and are dying young and wrecking themselves chasing gains . We owe it to them to be real because it's the right thing to do...just sayin

He alluded to it himself in another interview when speaking of how his parents got him started in bodybuilding at a very young age as well as his siblings competing (even outs his sisters saying they took steroids), "we all did it", though it was more slip of the tongue.

Saying it out load doesn’t make it so.
False advertising is false advertising, especially when you categorically lie. It’s not as black and white is many cases, but there are clear examples of people misleading others in order to gain for themselves. No disclaimer required, just honesty so as not to mislead.
I would be concerned if I was one of those people.

There are lots of guys who come out and still sell a butt load of supplements and don’t have lawsuits. Greg Doucette, Darek MPMD, Jay Cutler, Ronnie Coleman, Chris Bumstead. They all sell f loads of supplements and won’t get lawsuits because they’re not liars.

Juice or not it’s hard as hell to maintain Mikes physique for a year, much less 30 years. Supplements are “Supplemental” they are only a small help to your health. The word supplemental implies that it is only one small part of the health equation. For those that believe it’s all about the supplements (or synthetics) then they need more education.

25:00 You should NEVER do a press behind your neck - the shoulder joint didn't evolve to move in that way. I guess all the anabolic steroids have patched up the damage in this case. Real natty's will get chronic shoulder damage - but it might take a couple of years to notice, and then be too late.

Mike didn't just appear out of thin air. I have watched him for decades and the gains were slow, steady and of a high quality density that can only be achieved through consistency. Why should he take crap from anyone? There is a difference in gains that happen in 20 weeks and those that come in 20 years. Leave him alone, he's not here to please anybody. And, he's not doing anything different from the other elite athletes, that he should have to defend.

My buddy took steroids and worked out and just got fat. He just put weight on him. He never got lean or strong. So either he got fake roids or crappy genetics. But for me it definitely kept me from trying them.

I think there is 2 things with Mike. First off, once you start lying about something instead of just not talking about it, it's very difficult to reverse course and say oh SORRY I was lying all those years. We saw this with Lance Armstrong. Once you double down and triple down it's hard to reverse course. The other thing is that maybe... just maybe he truly is natural NOW, but he may have done copious amounts of roids during his earlier career. Just a thought...
