Mike O'Hearn has been a major figure in the bodybuilding and fitness world for nearly 40 years. Most amazingly, he has maintained an incredible physique completely all natural. This very sentiment is also a controversial one. Many bodybuilding fans believe that O'Hearn can't be all natural with a physique that impressive. Yet despite the controversy, O'Hearn has made a living off of himself as a brand - standing tall as one of the top fitness influencers and entrepreneurs in the industry.
We have released GI Exclusive highlights from our interview over the past few months. Now we're releasing our full interview including topics such as his fall of stage that went viral, whether or not O'Hearn can spot a fake natty athlete, the secret to his all natural physique, and the key advice he received from Joe Weider. That's just a few highlights in our forty minute sit down conversation.
Mike O'Hearn is a very busy guy and with good reason - he travels across the country doing guest posings and lectures nearly every other weekend. He has his own product line on the way and has been involved in various TV and entertainment projects. And that's just recently. Mike O'Hearn has been actively engaged in the bodybuilding world for 37 years.
Due to his 24/7 schedule - he also needs to keep a 24/7 shredded physique. He handles this by waking up at 3am every day to train before getting ready to handle his "day job" career tasks around 7am. Then he's in bed by 8pm. Rather, rinse, repeat. It's that kind of dedication that helped him build his self proclaimed all natural physique. One that has gotten him on dozens of magazine covers.

I took 2nd in Master's Classic Physique at the show he fell off stage at. I ran into him in the lobby after prejudging. He was with his wife and son taking pics. I had a conversation with him for like 10 mins. I didn't bother asking him about being natural. But I have to say, he seemed real humble and cool. I don't agree with anyone lying about being natural. I also understand why someone who is a brand would deny it in order not to jeopardize their sponsorships. Why keep asking him? The answer is obvious, and he's never going say anything otherwise.
Because he's a liar, gives people false hope and deserves to be exposed.

if you’re referring to kids most of the time it’s a motivator - when i first started working out at the age of 13 i watched videos of Mike and admired his physique. i wanted to look like him so badly i worked my butt off doing things kids at my age and even guys/men my age and older don’t realize they need to be doing in order to grow. i am now 23 and have known Mike isn’t natty since i was in my late teens. he motivated me when i needed it most. he lies, yeah, but that’s on him and that’s his personal choice - one between him and Jesus Christ.
I think it is a generational thing. Guys from his era just didn’t talk about gear. Ever. They shied away from it because it was so taboo and the public wouldnt be able to handle it at the time. I think he said he was natural back then (just like everyone who was blasting gear in this days), and stuck with it, even as more and more athletes started to come out and admit they were using gear. Now he has to stick with his lie to protect his brand and felt that was the path he needed to go with. At the same time though, who cares?! He doesn’t owe it to you to tell you whether he is clean or not. If you’re too stupid to see that clearly he’s on gear with great genetics, I don’t know what to tell you. But get over it. Who cares? He’s on gear, and doesn’t want to admit it. Move on.
I’ve met Mike in the past (really nice guy), bought his supplements and followed him for years. He’s never once been popped for steroids in 50 years of training. This speculation that he’s used PEDs has some from modern UA-camrs like More plates and Greg. They troll for views ! Don’t buy into it

I actually like Mike. I can’t take away from him his dedication, genetics and business sense. Now I think most of the community know he uses. And I’d agree. I wish he wouldn’t deny it and actually educate people how to safely use. People half his age have dropped dead from going too far. I think he could be a fantastic ambassador for using responsibly. Most people that use still look like shit. He could help far more people than he does now and the hate would stop. People will use regardless of the risks but he could lessen those risks with his knowledge. He looks better than most juice heads in they’re 20’s.

Mike is an enigma for sure. He isn't relaxed, casual or forthcoming but this is social media and his brand is a guy in his 50's who is in phenomenal shape and strength. Mike been working out for 36 years and his competitive nature and vanity keep him going. I remember him on the American Gladiators, he was thrown off some goofy event and landed on the mats. Mike stood up and look at the camera man as if someone pulled his pants down! He was humiliated, he hates losing! Everyone does but for Mike it was a type of shame. Mike has an early childhood event that made him feel like shit! He fought back with the image he created. Children make monsters.

Arnold is the main reason why bodybuilding is somewhat popular today. He was funny, charismatic, made documentaries and did so much for the “sport”. Seems like a nice guy in the videos I've seen of him over the years. No matter what you think he does or not does the guy works out hardcore to get where he is and seems to love his job. I've worked out since 14 now I'm 44 and some of his videos have helped to motivate me.
He does seem like a great guy. All narcissists do. But tell him he's wrong or that he's not perfect in some way and watch him blow up in your face like you've never seen before. Guaranteed.
Especially when he talked about his fall. He didn't have a single ounce of humility. It wasn't his fault, he actually handled it like a total badass, and everyone thought it so smooth it was part of the act.

I think Mike enjoys the game of "natty or not" at this point and uses it to hype up his business, but he leaves clues all over the place.
1. He'll never give a straight answer in either direction, yes or no, however someone who definitely has never used would clearly and convincingly say no.
2. He admits to being a part of the 80's and 90's mass monster crews in the bedrock of bodybuilding. All of them were juicing, you really think Mike was the only one to stand up to them and say no to drugs?
3. His "beliefs" about how eating food trains your metabolism. While true to some extent, what's also strange is that nearly all anabolics affect metabolism, usually increasing it, weird coincidence eh?
4. Always using ad hominem attacks against people who criticize him as "haters" and "snowflakes" instead of addressing the evidence.
5. His entire career is based on his look and physique, you're telling me that someone in Mike's position wouldn't do EVERYTHING in their power to build and maintain that if it meant success and making millions?

So many give most credit to gear and how many take all kinds of it and look/function nothing like this guy, especially at 51, thats due to being majorly insecure and very limited in reasoning and attitude as well as possibly genetics. I am undecided but I'm leaning natural. It's his skin that says natural to me. Obviously he has the genes. If he has done this from a young age and been as consistent as he says he has, I believe him. I see sincerity. I also think a lot of people are jealous of him and his success. People tend to want to tear people down to make themselves feel better. He has extraordinary size and strength. And another thing he has is longevity. How many juicers live to his age and be in the shape he is in? Few. Very few.
There are a lot of mud throwers out there who are too quick to demonize others.
Everyone involved in the fitness lifestyle has cruised or is on hormones. It's something you'll learn if you get involved in this lifestyle. That's not a bad thing, but it's bad when Mike deceives people such as yourself by having you believe it's just his food choices and workout habits that keep him looking like that. Both of those are actually very important, however the third thing is the steroids. Guaranteed.

Guy looks amazing for 51 although it's a bit difficult to get a clear idea of what he really does to maintain his muscle mass probably some testosterone replacement I mean he is 51 but I think he is consistent I really do believe that consistently working out and eating healthy is most important.
