What were the stats how fast did the quads push the 40 ft formula?
It was a 50 foot Formula (overall length 54' with a beam of 14.5'). The all new Formula 500 SSC and top speed at 6400 rpm was 69MPH with a total weight of 47,000 lbs. It's a nice way to pack on power, but the price and weight are brutal. 77k and 1200 lbs per. quad 600 (2400 hp) for 308 grand or 6 400's (2400 hp) for 210 grand. and the 6 motors will be 400 lbs lighter than the 4. I can't see the long-term cost savings of having 2 fewer motors being worth 100 grand. It basically comes down to how many motors you can fit.

Average consumption for outboards are about 1 gallon per 10 horsepower per hour. That's going to get expensive fast
What is the speed in this test...
Formula 500 SSC was 69mph, Boston Whaler 420 Outrage 63.7mph, Scout 425 LXF 61.9mph, Tiara 48 LS 60.3mph, Valhalla V-46 74.1 MPH. Check back for videos on each of these boats as well as video on all the technical innovations of the new 600HP V-12 Verado.

@@blindabinda1234 Yes they were and you could feel the push all the way through the power band with no lag and super smooth. The two speed transmission shift felt seamless.
I can't wait to work on them lol. I am the parts manager at a marina and full service dealer of mercury and yamaha Garmin etc, we do alot of high tech up grading to boats. Maintaining the boats in all aspects and just reading about them and seeing they take 14 quarts... probably the 25w50 verado oil? Over sized impellers, I am at YACHT BASIN MARINA IN HOLLAND MI. CAN'T WAIT TO GET THE LESSONS ON THE MONSTER ENGINES AND SEE THEM.

LOL in one of these videos I'd love to see someone in a 21' bass boat with a single 300 on it come screaming past them.
1200 lbs / 600hp= 2 to 1, 500 lbs / 450hp= 1.1 to 1, Didn't 7 Marine already try this, If this get better fuel economy on par with 1 mpg at 50 it might work, the pivot transom is bad ass however. maybe that is where or why weight is up.

The fact that it has a two speed automatic gearbox probably makes the fuel economy close to that of a V8

Hey bro, thanks for the great sound in this video, but please don't call an engine a motor. A motor uses an energy source to create motion, ie an electric motor. An engine uses a potential energy source (gasoline) to make energy and create motion. Sorry for the criticism, but I'm a vocabulary nerd.
So quiet for such a high performance engine. I shudder to think what the fuel bills will be like though.

It is heavy as the seven marine
Y’all know Volvo bought out seven Marine. Rumor has it Ford offered to build larger engines for Mercury but they said kick rocks.
The Mercury’s are ground up new technology they are said to be able to be “tuned” to 500HP, 550HP and maybe over 600HP. V12’s have vast possibilities.
My theory is Mercury skipped from 450 to 600 because Yamaha is about to go big. Yamaha has always just trailed Mercury that’s probably why Evinrude went out of business shortly after or just before Volvo acquired seven marine. Evinrude said a lot of it was because of Covid but they are a very old company if not the oldest gas motor company that ever existed(est.1907).
With Mercury’s New scheduled maintenance with these engines I’m feeling like they bought some of Evinrude’s technology. Or did some hiring🤔
And I feel like Mercury is trying to corner the early market kind of like PlayStation vs Xbox because Yamaha has something up their sleeve. Yamaha has always come out with their engines before Mercury. I’m feeling like Yamaha is going to have something like 725HP.

We will eventually bud, everything cutting edge is always expensive, hell just having 200hp a couple years ago was something reserved only for the uber wealthy, now every boat has 200hp, if Merc sticks with this, we'll get em eventually, but better yet, it'll force Yamaha to dig up those designs for their old V12's to compete with in a brand new market.

It sure as hell isn't because those brands are cheaper. It's because when you buy a marine engine you want it to work.
Mercury dropped the ball a long time ago on:
RELIABILITY
RELIABILITY
RELIABILITY
WARRANTY
SERVICE
I've been in the business for 30 years and Mercury makes garbage outboard engines and their customer service is also garbage.
The information is out there if you want it. Almost no one uses these engines commercially and if they do they QUICKLY regret it.
Try finding one overseas, oh that's right, you won't except in the odd case. Everyone uses Japanese outboards. Mercury gimmicks won't fix the horrible reputation they have earned.
I call it a ripoff, $8,000.00 for one engine
8 thousand might get you a nice little engine for your pontoon boat but if you want one of those 600 hp monsters it's going to set you back over $77,000.
