I was picked on acx to do voice over for a manual it took me about 2 days, 4 hours and I made $844. Not a bad day. Love this idea!
That is awesome
Sounds good! How many hours exactly?
Yesssss Wonderful
Awesome! Is there a membership fee for Acx? and I hope you don’t mind the question but did you use you iPhone? Or did you have special equipment I’m very inspired by your comment
@@kofyspot7347 It took me about 4 hours total. The actual reading time was about 2.5 hours.
I literally just had a customer of mine tell me I have a voice for radio. Then basically told me that I was in the wrong business and should try to make money off my voice... keep killing it Kat!!! 🙏 😁
Wow what are the odds of that ha!
@@KatTheo uh oh, you’ve got some scam bots lurking…
@@crnkmnky Thank you for letting me know~ I got your notification and deleted that one above. Now to try to find them all haha
I had the same thing happen to me while working at Walmart for over a year. I have a deep baritone voice that many say I sound like Barry White, Sylvester Stallone, Sam Elliot and Dennis Hayesburt (the AllState guy), Jack Nicholson and Johnny Cash. People almost constantly said they love my voice and that I should be on radio. So naturally I started thinking in that general direction. I know I definitely have the face for radio, lol!
i was told that too a few times over the years. How did you get started?
This is a legit side hustle. I was a voice over artist very briefly when I was younger and it’s a fun job. Nothing beats hearing your own voice on radio at the neighbours. Instant celeb status 😀 I am going to add a list of side hustles as one of the videos to record on my channel soon. Thanks Kat
Please post that info soon. Thank you.
@@starznmyeyez8906 hello, my next video as requested by a subscriber is The Actual Cost of Relocating to the UK (how I saved for that move). Now that you are requesting this, I will schedule it as the next video after that and try to make it in-depth as much as possible. Thank you.
@@HannahEdiaA what's the channel's name?

Yes. Plus residuals aka mailbox money. I recall getting two at once for my Nissan TV ad. That was long ago and still brings joy.
I teach voiceover recording and marketing to aspiring vo actors in Japan and this video would really help them get over their mental
blocks about the business and see having just minimum equipment is enough for making money!
Will you ever teach in the U.S
@@skinbrow-waxqueen maybe I should!! Thanks for your suggestion!
I really hope you do, I've always been told my voice has a professional tone such as radio or TV, but at the same time my spa clients say I have a very low soothing tone. I do play around with different tones and voices and am very interested in learning.🤞
Can you practice to do this if you don't have a good voice at all?
Can you be a voice over artist tutor ?
I’m not no voice over expert but I could not even tell THIS WAS RECORDED ON A IPHONE !!!!! And the voice over on the ad sounded perfect and engaging !!!
Some places you can hear where I picked up and re-recorded and chopped but overall proves an iPhone recording app works just fine :)
@@KatTheo What iPhone recording app did you use?
@@lizcarol1702 You’re a hater
@@lizcarol1702 yes you can. That’s what the video is about. Kat use her iPhone.
@@KatTheodid you do the ads video editing yourself please, just wanna know 😊😊
So glad that you clarified that there are other options for voiceover work as a beginner. I'm always getting compliments over the phone from clients who say I have a cool voice and that I should do voiceover work. I'm looking forward to exploring this side hustle! Thank You Kat!
Oh most definitely. Voice over work can be a lot of fun :)
I am so encouraged!!! Thank you for your advice. 15 minutes ago I was completely overwhelmed but now... hey, I can so do this! 😁

Very informative! Thank you! I just started auditioning with ACX about a month ago. I got my first job a few days after for a 3-hour audiobook. I don't have a professional studio. I record from my bedroom, with a blanket over my head. I also only used my built-in computer microphone. I just purchased a Yeti X Professional mic this week to enhance the quality of my future recordings, but I passed ACX standards in my bedroom, under a blanket & recording directly onto my computer. Nothing fancy needed for beginners. Also, the company loved my voice & will be sending me more work soon. I love it!
Thanks for your post, your honesty and candor offers some hope that this truly IS doable and a lack of top-notch equipment shouldn't keep one from giving it our best shot. 🙂
Your experience is so encouraging!
Hi! What did you use to edit your audios?
this is so cool!!!
Congrats 🙏🏾did you make a demo prior to getting your first job ?
Kat thank you so much for helping so many of us out here that are looking for job's, are a change of careers.. Of course we all know, there's so many people that are doing well to even very well, and they never look back to pull someone else up. It's the smallest things that could help other people but they choose not to and the Bible said for those of us who have much much is required... God bless you and I asked him to continue to enlarge your territory🙏
Awe thank you Joyce! I think he is listening! I try to help out as much as I can. :)
That was great Kat! Thank your for the inspiration and showing us a real video of how these voiceover videos work. 😃🙏🏽
Kat, FAN-FREAKIN'-TASTIK video! Thank you SO SO SO much for lifting the veil and just letting us know how to get started -annnnd for the mindset for us to just not complicate it! I did radio ads years ago that people loved. But I recorded it formally for a business that paid to have all the sound work done at a local studio. Now I want to take those samples and get a foot in the door to get started doing voice work more seriously. But I've been all freaked out that I have to spend a crazy amount on equipment. I encountered a voice artist online that really makes it seem so difficult to break in to the industry. I saw that he just wanted to keep things all secretive and not have people thinking they could just start right away with the talent they were born with! -I literally LOVE your channel (and your voice sample project shared was great! Your clients got a quality product so who cares if it was done on an iPhone... Also, love the video you did with your friend King on upleveling financially). Sending so many Beatnik finger snaps of approval your way...lol! (What software do you use to edit your voice artist projects? And, do you have a video on...how you recorded this video? Haaa!)
Wow! I feel you did a fantastic job on that voice over gig!! Nicely done! Loved this entire video. Information was good and there was comedy as well 😁 Great job.
OMG, Kat!!! Girl Thank you for just being you and doing this video. I’ve Never done a voice over but have often been told I’d be great at it. This video help me to exhale about actually giving it a shot. You’re so encouraging, transparent and knowledgeable!! Please keep shining and doing you!! I’ll let you know how my VO journey goes. 😘😘😘
I love her, she is so positive! Thanks for wanting to help others, and being so humble.
Excellent video, Kat! Very clear on what to do, where to go, etc. I’ve always been interested in doing voiceover work! I really like how you actually create an example of the work you’re video is about. Thanks!
Yes, me too. Like the background sounds and music that comes with the finished video or audio, etc. Please help us ,Kat Theo
Thank you so much !! Great video, great inspiration ! I had actually taken a VO course many years ago taught by a well known VO professional. He told me I should seriously consider putting a portfolio together etc. But that was way back when you always got an agent, had demo tapes made up etc. etc. Then life happened lol and I forgot about pursuing it, too expensive etc. But now, I really need some extra income to survive and you arrived at just the right time! So thank you again for all the great tips and inspiration. You're the best! Blessings to you 💜🙏
Wow! This thought popped in my head out of the blue, I told my husband he said it's a great idea, start your research and this is the first video that came up! Great information!
You give me hope! I'm a 51 year old women...when my husband I started our family...we decided I would stay home with the kids.... but now all the kiddos are grown... It's time to help prepare for our golden years! I've been feeling so hopeless ..... 28 years at home... no degree... no experience. Not complaining! It is what it is. This gives me hope! I might actually be able to earn a income with no experience. I know this sounds ridiculous.... But 51 and no work experience or education is a scary thing. Thank you so much!
I'm in the SAME position and I COMPLETELY understand your fear.
Best of luck.
Oh my! I hear you 🥹 I am 42 and have dedicated 20 years of my life to raise my kids. Now they’re, 19, 17, 12 and last one is 4 (unplanned but wanted and loved) I’m desperately looking to do something with my life. I thought I was the only mom feeling like this because other moms left and right have careers even with small kids but we chose for me to be home with them and although it was the best decision I always get that feeling of “what about me?” Or what will I do when my kids grow up and leave? I plan to become a certified court translator or maybe use my certification to do freelance work but meanwhile trying to find small gigs while I’m still home with my little one.
Cheers 🥂 to finding something fulfilling to do and succeed. Blessings to you.
Your video was fine! I appreciate that you always encourage everyone to just go for it and not get hung up on “stuff.” Your voice suited the message. Brava 👏🏾👏🏾 and thank you!
Thank you, Kat. Your honesty will help alot of people (myself included) to just get started. You're awesome.
I am from the south and have a deep voice just like James Earl Jones...I could do some Vader or Mufasa impressions....
Really? Then you should definitely do it
Love the outtakes. It’s good to show that you don’t have to be perfect on the first take to make a quality product.
Thank you! Watched your channel late last night! Omgeeeeee I received my first voiceover gig two hours later “today” no experience but I know voice is one of a kind. God bless you ❤🙌🏼🌟💕☀️🔥🙏🏼💰💰💰

I want to thank you for all the time you dedicated to making UA-cam videos like you did. They're priceless informational pieces that I often share with people to this day who want to learn to work from home.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for what you did here. It was so integral to me learning how to swim on my own. You're amazing, and I hope whatever you're doing now is proving fruitful for you. I will forever be grateful.

I am a fan of your hustle motivating! 💪
That sounds great 😊. I've dreamed of being the voice for Disney or anyplace
I immediately liked this video upon seeing the bloopers and realized how much work you had to put in to give us this video. Thank you for the content it was really helpful.
Guurrrll!!!! Your video just made me get out of bed so I can go purchase a microphone!!! You've just inspired me!!! Thank you sooo much!!! Blessings, Peace, Love and MUCH Success to you!!! 💚🙌🏾
Thank you this! I just ordered the mic you're using. It'll get here today (yay prime haha) 🙌 I'm a teacher who left the classroom after my second child and reading children's books is my passion 😄 I hope I can be the voice for someone's story 🥰
Love this and all your other videos of all the different side hustles you can have. One question, what's the best way to put a "professional summary" without experience? Anything related to hearing your voice recorded would work?
THANK YOU for this video. So much of the VO community discourage newbies. This is exactly the encouragement I needed.
Thank you Kat!!!! This content was 🔥🔥🔥 Your mic sounds amazing. I appreciate the information 🙏🏽
I really enjoyed this video; it was straightforward and informative. You have a great personality and are very encouraging. Sometimes, people inadvertently turn folks off because the way that they describe the task (becoming a voice-over artist) is daunting and, therefore, intimidating. You are very positive and encouraging and I'm sure that people will feel emboldened to take a leap of faith due to your heartening approach. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you. This is an awesome video. Very informative. Made this seem like a reachable achievement. Pretty simple. I will be getting started today
I enjoyed watching the bloopers. Loooool. Well done, and thank you, Kat. You gave me the motivation I had been looking for.
Ohhh my goodness “I love this!’ My husband can do so many voices…I would love 💕 to see him try!! Will let you know how it goes. So excited to hear the gigs are endless!
And I say this with sweetest tone "How about THANK YOU KAT for allllllll the amounts of research you do for us so that we benefit!" What are number hours she puts in so that you and I don't have too. I appreciate clicking on your amazing videos and learning about so much info I hadn't previously. Lol there's always the option of looking yourselves just sayin sweetly but direct lol.. Be happy people its free information! Have thee most amazing day!
Any ideas on a topic for a you tube channel? Or does it have to be a specific topic or just random things?
@@loriannmarsden7783 I don't have a UA-cam channel but a blog -- same thing applies: you have to choose a topic that you won't mind talking about 7 times a week or whatever; something that has many categories of the main topic. (That way you won't run out of ideas.) Also -- what hobbies do you have? Something you can teach? You don't need an official degree for something like this.
Ohh,thank you ✨
People always tell me I have a good voice ,not for singing 😁
But for radio,tv personalities,
I wanna do this !!!
You have given me so much hope ! Thanks for letting me know that I could even use my phone for voice over auditions. I am a 67 year old female with low resonance softer kind of voice. I have been complimented on it for years. I love reading books aloud but I’m extremely short of money to go full out on buying equipment and obtaining auditions. Despite be older, my voice sounds more “ middle aged”. Thanks for giving me some iota of hope 😊
So helpful! I've been feeling overwhelmed, this helped alot. I'm excited to get into this!!!!
you cracked me up in the beginning with that ASMR stuff! Lol!
I was told I could be a voice-over artist by a Radio/Communications professor I had years ago. I have some experience with vocal training whether it is through Radio, Theatre and overall singing. I have been considering doing it. At this point in my life, there is no excuse. I can at least try using the websites you've mention and more, buy a mic/XLR equipment and just START!
I've been a little hard on myself, constantly telling myself that the VO industry is too competitive and too hard to breakthrough.
Thanks for your videos. They are very helpful and encouraging.
Thanks Kat. I love your personality. Keep bringing the warm atmosphere and good vibes.
I'm actually very excited about getting into this and your video helped a lot. Thanks
I’m impressed! Going for it when I return home from vacation!🌹😁

Great job on this voice over!
I have a relatively low voice, plenty of people compliment me never knew how to get into this. Now I think im ready to look into this.
Hey Kat,
Thank you for this video! I’m definitely interested in trying out doing voice overs. One question, is it imperative to get this snowball verses the one that sells for $20 or $30 less? What would be the benefits of this one over those two for the purpose of making voice overs?
This is an awesome video. People have told me for years that I have a "bedroom" voice. 🤣🤣 I have had friends tell me that I needed to be on ADULT call line. 🤦♀️🤦♀️ I'm not looking for that but if I can make extra money doing some gigs like these then I'm all for trying it. 😁 Thanks Kat.

Thank you Kat🙏 Bumped into this video at the best time✅❤️🤝
Great tips! Been considering voiceover work for a while now & your vid gave me that extra encouragement. Thanks!
Kat, thank you so much for this inspiring video! I've been curious about VO for some time. Several years ago, I took a VO class and had my voice reviewed and the instructor encouraged me to get into the field (narration, audiobooks, etc.). Life happened and I had to postpone this pursuit. I've been told by countless people for years (family and colleagues) that I have a great voice and that it's soothing and relatable. Thank you for awakening the dream! I'm encouraged to start and will not overthink it. Let the journey begin! Again, many thanks.
