I am french i was sick une leucémie this song give me strengh...🙏
Really wonderful. Bought the tab and working through it now. Bringing me much joy in the process. Thank you sir!
Thanks Stephen for the most elegant version of this tune I've ever heard.
Thank you, Frank! :) Really appreciate the comment!
Fell in love with this melody 26 yrs ago, when I heard it being performed Live by Ry Cooder and David Lindley. Originally written for a harp (you can sense the harp runs), I've been curious about a suitable open tuning that would emulate the harptuning instead of the (assumingly) awkwardness of playing the song in standard tuning. I don't read music. Have been able to support a professional career playing an Open D/Open G (DADGBD) cross tuning since the early/mid 70's. Happy to find your DADGAD-version. Time to have a go at this beautiful piece of music. Thank you!
Superb, many thanks.
I have heard this incredible performance countless times in a row now and am still completely speechless! So beautiful and emotional played ... wow! I find your interpretation by far outstanding! Thank you for this wonderful video! Chapeau from Berlin Germany
There was Pierre Bensusan's first version, Dave Evan's, Jean Banwarth's. Now there's Stephen's. Everyone of them brings out a new aspect, different harmonies and counterpoint. Lovely music served by talented players. Bravo!
Yes, this is very very good. Don’t miss out on William Coulter’s version.
Absolutely beautiful interpretation of an O'Carolan classic. I love it. It's cadences are both uplifting and melancholic but totally beautiful. Thanks, Stephen. 👍
Very nice. I love how you said the melody. Sounded so Celtic. Pull offs and hammer on. Brove
One of my favorite tunes for fiddle, too..❤
Truly beautiful ❤ Thank you.
Bravissimo, suonato con molto sentimento.
Fantastico, anima bella, piena di attenzione, raffinatezza, sensibilità
Stunning!
Stephen, what a splendid version of one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever. We must remember there is still much beauty in this world even though we are flooded with bad news.....especially now. Looking forward to learning this wonderful song.

Salsaceltica! So happy to see you. I haven't come across your brilliant guitar work since the demise of the Celtic Guitar Forum many years ago. Naturally, I immediately bought one of your albums and will be buying the rest in due course. Thank you for taking the trouble to make tabs available!

Exquisite. No-one plays it better. Not even Pierre Bensusan.
Magnificent interpretation dear Stephen !! The softness of the classical guitar is wonderful on this track and your vision of its interpretation offers new perspectives. Thank you and congratulations for this very beautiful moment of guitar.

Thanks Phil! Yes, nylon is often overlooked when it comes to traditional music but some pieces sound nicer I think. O'Carolan's music sounds beautiful on classical guitar.
@@StephenWakeGuitar Yes dear Stephen, what you say about O'Carolan's music is true. In addition, the repertoire of this musician has left us a sumptuous heritage.
I wish you a very nice week.

Wow
nice classical guitar, sounds good, your right hand is exelent, beautiful song
Thanks. I just feel like playing nylon these days, sounds really nice in DADGAD!
Stephen Wake Guitar yes, it’s sound very good, and a tremelo is more intersting into it, I have a flamenca guitar, try to use savarez strings (the blue one) thank me later ;)
@@trytobeflow549 Hey you know, I've tried almost every nylon string out there, the savarez are nice and probably in my top 5, but I settled for the Hannabach 725 Goldin super carbon for the trebles, wow, they are absolutely amazing (and absolutely expensive!)
Thank you for sharing, I admit I have never tested them I will do that at the first opportunity :)
well done ! now I almost don't like my own version anymore...
Your songs make me miss Scotland mate. Lovely stuff.
Irish tune lol
@@donnachamcgowan Scottish player. Stephens version has strong influences from both Ireland and Scotland, and its shared Gaelic connection, so this reminding that chap of Scotland is absolutely legitimate.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Beautifully played and correctly credited to the Irish writer Turlough O’Carolan in the description so yes it is an Irish tune. and if it reminds somebody of Scotland well we’re all gaels, so what’s the harm in that either. There’s many a Scots tune remind people of Ireland... 😃
@@jondoyle44 Oh yeah absolutely, the reason I said that is because i'm Scottish, not currently living in Scotland and Stephen is a Scottish guitarist so when I hear his music I think of Scotland. To be fair I didn't know it was Irish, fair play, some lovely Irish music.
@@thomashunterguitar7379 Turlough O'Carolan is a hugely underrated and IMO under popularised composer of many timeless and beautiful melodies, which 300 years later are still gaining in popularity... He's probably our musical version of Robbie Burns but sadly much less well known... 👍 😉
This is heaven ❤ What an interpretation, what a sound and technique. Always in love with your feeling man. What nylon strings gauge and brand do you use for DADGAD tuning?
He has previously mentioned using these for Classical:
Hannabach Goldin 725 MHT Classical
Youre so skilled! I was curious about one thing: I think all the clips of yours Ive seen are played using a capo. Is that to get the action down to a manageable level? Ive been playing for 50 years and just got my first capo. Thanks for the entertaining music!
Hi Stephen! Does this sheet music include ornaments? I want to play your arrangement on my harp ❤
Really beautiful, thanks Stephen! Great to hear you playing a classical guitar again (although I love your steel-string work as well). What is the guitar you are playing? Cheers, Bill
In the past he has mentioned Casamiro Lozano 1A
@@asdfasdf464 Thanks TDR, yes I think that is the guitar.
Hi, i am a big fan of your music ❤.
I am a classical guitarist from India, i really want to buy this music but the payment is unable to execute because of some issues. Is there any other way i can buy this piece? I really need it, it is soooo good 😢
Beautiful rendition! Score/tab is disappointing--- many of the bass notes are not there, and the introduction is left out altogether. Do you have a more complete tab?
What kind of guitar are you playing?
Hi, this is a Casimiro Lozano 1A.
Dave Evans Shebeg An Shemor check it out if you haven't heard of it already, I do trust you have.
Excellent fingerplay :)
To me this is too contrived; trying to be too "arty", and over-technical. It doesn't flow, as the tune does when played on the harp, as composed in the 1600's by Turlough O'Carolan . Some of the best versions are by that greatest of Uilleann pipers; Liam O'Flynn. I know it's all a matter of taste, but I prefer it in its original style.
