      I bought the entire discog with all the tabs from the link in the description. The first song in this wasn't that hard to learn. I highly recommend it from one guitarist to another. This is from a guy who is 40 and completely new to finger-style and played metal and blues my whole life. I'll be working through these tabs for years.

    Stephen - I stumbled onto your work as the result of being a big fan of Tommy McManus - I think Celtic melodies are some of the most moving sounds ever played and recorded - the staccato runs you do are unbelievable beautiful and such a challenge for a player at any level (I'm a 40 year player) - if you ever come to Huntsville AL or I get to the British Isles I sure hope you are gigging...

    Can you make a video like '"HOW YOU MIX AND MASTER YOUR SONG" ? Because your audio quality is amazing and crystal clear.Thanks in advance

    • @TLMuse
      @TLMuse 6 років тому

      I like the video, but please, Stephen, develop a lighter hand with compression/limiting, and learn to watch your levels, before you make a video on recording/mastering. There's hardly any dynamic range left in this recording, and there are many overs. It's still a pleasure to watch, but it would be even more of a pleasure if you'd let it breathe more. Study recordings of Martin Simpson or Tony McManus (to cite just two examples) to get a sense of how fine recordings of Celtic guitar pieces can sound articulate and present while still preserving a natural dynamic range. Duplicate that, and your videos will go from impressive to truly outstanding (which is where your playing seems already to be!).

    • @StephenWakeGuitar
      @StephenWakeGuitar  6 років тому +2

      Thanks man for the feedback. Just so you know, I didn't use any compression but did use limiting. If you compare the audio to the version I have on Spotify then you might prefer that one. I think something accidentally happened to the track when I inserted it into Premier, but still I don't think it was anything drastic. As for the limiting, I don't agree that it's over the top. Both of those artists you mentioned have louder tracks than mine (on Spotify)

    Greeting from West Virginia, USA. Love you playing and arrangement. I use the Appalachian finger style and play music brought over from Ireland/Scotland. Do you always play in D sus4?
