Intel won't die. Not without probably over a decade with each year being at least as a bad as 2024 for the next 10 years. But take a step back and look at where AMD was at pre-Ryzen. Their FX CPU era was doing so terribly that they didn't even have 10% of the total market share and 0% of the laptop market share. Now in 2025 they have over about 35% of the market share with their market only growing year over year. Intel can turn things around, it will just take time and ingenuity.
The sad thing is the former ceo was actually starting to see the benefits of his work and then intel goes and gets all hot and bothered cause they had to wait. He was on track to get the mid tier market which is what the majority of consumers are looking at these days. Intels Arc b580 at 250 usd is one hell of a deal for a mid tier gpu.

They'll have to find a new CEO and a new business plan: their CFO said something about selling the foundries, but so far nothing official has been decided yet. Intel can probably recover, but it's not "too big to fail": it could potentially end up like some other giants of the past, like Kodak or Bethlehem Steel.

Except Apple's Mac sales in 2023 dropped by 34% and this year it dropped by 17.5%. Also laptops based on Qualcomm Snapdragon X chips didn't sell. At all. Like, nobody bought them. Intel has 70% of the laptop market while they have 50% of the server market. Intel spent their money on updating their manufacturing which is still behind TSMC. They fired Pat because they want to sell off Intel's fabs.
I don't think that Intel will crash and burn. They are having a very rough time, sure, but they have a diverse product line and a vast back catalog of patents and intellectual property. Gelsinger's changes were starting to pay dividends.
Intel’s failure to implement EUV sooner is the cause of all this. 14nm ++++. 10nm was very delayed. Meanwhile tsmc forged ahead with EUV on 7nm 5nm 3nm. And soon 2nm. If intel had just waited a bit after sky lake and used EUV sooner, they’d be much better off. Too bad. I hope they come back but it’s beginning to look bleaker. Because the competition is not slowing down.
Apple processors are not general purpose processors, they are in only 5 or 6 devices. Whereas intels processors are general purpose and maybe even intel doesn't know how many types of devices are powered by their processors. When Apple makes fun of intel, its like your pet dog making fun of a wolf in the forest. Your pet dog is is not exposed to anything outside your home and are fed packaged food. It cannot even digest the food that a wolf eats.

Remember Intel released top-of-the-line 12th gen and 13th gen CPUs with AVX-512 instructions on the P-cores, and then disabled them after sales using microcode updates ! That was not fair to consumers ! Turns out AVX-512 was very good and Intel wanted it for their workstation and data center CPUs ! So yeah, I can't be sorry for Intel now

GPUs are also inefficient because they have to use complex instructions all the time (when talking about hardware implementation). But I guess it will take a long time untill they release something like a RISC GPU (I know it is not called that way when talking about GPUs) that will handle everything using software implementation and multiple simple instructions... Like raytracing without RT cores etc. Because I guess these cores are specialized for fast vector and matrix operations which adds more instructions to the hardware.
FFS, they have a big asset under their nose with Arc, if they'd get their priorities straight and pump more money into it (much needed GPU competition, AI potential, etc).
