Will you be having group lessons in June? I'm on the site but it doesn't seem to let me change the month
"It's understandable once you understand it"
😂😂
“Ya dig”
Cars, guitars and talking at bars, right?
we are not here to laugh my brother
More like Melanie Faye's Giant Steps journey just begins.
Great to know young musician are discovering these gems. This peace is a stepping stone in learning the language of bop. Awesome to see her growth.
this lady is cooler than the other side of the pillow
Tbh she hates her whole fan base, the lady’s messed up.
@@valebliz ???
You are making me want to play my guitar more often. So inspiring!
“Once you dive down there, you like, never really come back...” LOL
within the first two minutes you managed to explain effortlessly something I haven't been able to get my head a round for years! amazing stuff
I would never have tried to learn this classic song before, but this video changes things dramatically. Thanks so much to Melanie!!!
"but like once you dive down there, you never really come back..." LOL :D
That was the darkest stuff I've ever heard...xD
Soloing through the🎸 changes at 300bpm is the Ultimate Challenge!
Nice tone Melanie 👌👏🏾
The key from Coltrane, sounds great on guitar. You are special wanting to go ‘up’ the rabbit hole to jazz. It’s a love supreme.
The blue green inlay on the guitar neck is Remarkable.
I had about 5 “ahhhhhh i see” 🧠 moments whilst watching this, killing it Mel!!!
Nice! I've been working on GS for 2 years now using 1st pos chords so now thanks to you I know what I need to learn next! Cheers!
I have been binge watching Barry Harris videos and he did a lesson on this as well, I’m happy you can transcribe it🤗
Hi. Can you be so kind to post the link😊
"They say he never returned, from the Rabbit hole of jazz"
I love how she moves with the minor notes she explains
Love the color of that guitar
I grew up with a kid who spent his whole life learning how to play giant steps he stopped showering his wife Left him he started wearing diapers so he didn't have to wasted time using the bathroom he lived off cliff bases and mochi and once he finally learned the song in the fall 97" he died
Bro wtf😂
he went hollow
ah! one of the lucky ones ...
You're kidding, right? Not that hard. Never was that hard. It's those doggone jazz Nazi critics from New Yawk City that created legend around this. Not that hard, bro.
@@J3unG Yeah, it's actually a catchy tune, a great melody I think. It's hard to play with the speed of his solo, I'll admit that lol!
This video may be 10 months old but just know that I support you on your musical journey as I feel you have more you want to learn❤
Super Lovely.
Lovely
06:22 , few people have i heard speaking of the four agreements...
imagine if kids were taught that in school, what the world would be like
Never heard of it. Please explain if you don't mind.
@@beemelonhead1 it’s a book. www.thefouragreements.com/the-four-agreements/
So motivating
Been watching for awhile and girl you got it 👍 keep playing, learning and teaching bless you 🙏
Sounds GREAT!
holy shit it sounds so good
Seek & you shall find!! It's very hard to continue to grow as a musician without touching on jazz!!! I'd say virtually impossible; even if jazz isn't your thing!!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏
Eb Tikashi 69 chord lol
I like your way of breaking it down! Long, long down that rabbit hole... Cheers, D
Sounds good! like to hear with bass and drums!
Well played
Super dope @mela 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Way cool!
Truly amazing!
Fantastic, love it
Hi, Mel, what guitar is that and what do you use for your house? Thanks a lot!
Thank you so much
Wonderful!!
Whete did you go to school?
Very well performed by a lovely young woman. Next up for you now is to learn how to solo over it! Good luck sister.
I love what you do!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE YOUR NAME ON THE GUITAR,PRETTY COOL
I'm so happy that you're doing jazz.
Peace ✌️
Why is she so funny without trying? 😅
Understandable 👑 🎸
Have a great day
Me apaixonei....
I've been trapped In the jazz rabbit hole, still trying to get out lol. I need to get rid of all my distortion pedal, I don't use it anymore
Great!!
My bad melanie ...i know jazz aint your thang...im.a huge fan ..you should go further down that rabbit hole ...play some. Solos ...im just excited to see you playing coltrane.
Fan. Subscribed.
Way to go, Melanie!
if you don't understand the voicings in the head melodies, tuning issues (or are they bends where they shouldn't be?)
What about the solo!
How did you learn it so fast
I'm not sure how this would work in a progression without sounding "off" - it doesn't sound bad when you do it, I'm just trying to understand how it works within a key. I'm still wrapping my head around parallel keys, relative keys and so forth. Are you just rapidly changing keys?
Anyways, beautiful guitar. Beautiful sounds as always. "The four agreements" is amazing. Check out "let the goddess dance" by Russell "Buddy" Helm. And "cave and Cosmos" by Michael Harner. Both are about using rhythm to alter consciousness.
yes cycling through keys. listen to coltrane do it.
this is cycling ii-V-I s in major 3rds
oh you poor thing...
So inspirational
Hey, can someone tell me when are the winners of the giveaway going to be announced?

You always impress me and leave me speechless I can't do half of that with my air guitar
I'd like to see you learn G.O.A.T

Nice to see you blowing your mind haha. Obviously I don’t play, but you doing great things.

Please make a video about this video
I finally get a big reason to love you 😘💜💜💜
the Faye hyphen is definitely an honour
Awesome!
Great job. Those chords blow by fast.
Love you
Great playing i kinda wanna see someone attempt the walking bass lol
i snapped to an offbeat quarter note to this and your timing is nasty
Ya think. The 5 and the 1 ..of each key?
Jazz too?
NICE!!!
E flat 6 9 tekashi chord
Time to learn more voicings.
Yikes...
Digging those jazz vibes, it’s not jazz til some one acts like an asshole
You or her?
色気ありすぎる
Is this Wes Montgomery? I have no idea.
Are you still with Fender?
Onlllyyyy⁉️3 keys 😂
IT SOUNDS BEAUTIFUL SO ARE YOU, BECAUSE YOU ARE A GIANT
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK 💪
She sounds beautiful because she’s a giant?
Women can never just be talented in the eyes of men, always gotta point out physical appearance. It's a shame.
SHE'S VERY TALENTED, NOT,JUST BECAUSE OF HER BEAUTY,HER PERSONALITY AND HER SMILE MAKES HER SO SPECIAL 💗, BECAUSE A TALENTED WOMAN WITH A NASTY ATTITUDE, NO MAN WANT TO HEAR THAT,NOT FOR LONG ANYWAY
So I came over here and you started talking in a foreign tongue. Guess I need to learn this language.
Downtown Heroville
What guitar is that?
Im diving myself..It gets deep dont it.
❤️
Hey, when you said you will learn a few licks to improv over the keys. where do you learn these licks? Are you making them up or is there something im missing cause my lick library is non existent.
learn coltrane’s lines and play them over and over and they’ll eventually naturally work their way into your vocabulary. be sure to really give proper attention to the ones that stick out to you and practice those more so that when you put everything together your technique matches up with your harmonic knowledge and ability
Hi Melanie
👍👍👍👍
Hey Melenie is this method you use to remember song progressions? Learn the key then the pattern of the chord progression?
I don't know about Melanie but most pros remember songs this way, but keep in mind your ears are more important than your memory!
I was late to the live :/
SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH
Hard tune to wrap your head around.Good shot miss!
👍❤️👍❤️
Isn't this normally played on piano ? Sounds nice
it was written by a saxophone player...but yes the piano was the first to comp the chords...
I see giant steps I sub cuz I want to learn it on both guitar and bass so bad
You are so beautiful and focused
Cool, now play the solo :D
