Never too late to start. I never learnt an instrument before, but in 2017 I watched a few people play and sing. I was 49 years old then. A few months later I bought an acoustic guitar and it is one of my best decisions. I am still a beginner. My modesty hold me from telling you how much I have learnt. I take it slow and easy and strive to grasp musical concepts. I push myself try stuff above my level and soon I see that it is actually my level. I use a metronome (clock, digital beats) just to learn t\o keep time, but when I and showing someone what I can do I do it raw, and anything that sounds like a drum when I am playing, believe me, is my strumming and muting techniques. You should buy a guitar.
I seriously appreciate the the way you use vibrato, slides, and hammer-ons/offs in your playing... the attention you give to particular notes captures emotion really well, and because of it, it feels like your sound is nearly tangible. idk if that makes any sense lmao, but you really inspire me to practice more. You're seriously my hero
from the slight bends to that walk down the harmonic minor, the octave jabs, and the sliding, this was reaaaaally good on the ears. i love your work melanie!!
@@eskoriakiebraqeyo7942 I've been playing a year and i know the "lingo" how else would you call the things she's playing, there's no need to be bitter over a person mentioning how nice certain parts she was playing sounded really good to the ear
The solid technique and a seemingly effortless fluidity of timing put you among the top tier of guitarists on UA-cam. What sets you apart is an obviously genuine heart for what you want to say with your instrument, and an incredible ear that makes the listener’s journey with you very interesting.

Why do I feel like this song puts me in a trance every time i hear it? Like I'll watch it, and then I'll have to keep watching it until I'm satisfied...
My biggest gripe with much of todays music (radio) is that no one plays instruments, writes their own music or actually sings (see backing tracks / vocals / autotune). It's more of a glorified kareoke now. However lately a slew of gifted musicians have emerged to bring back the love of actual musicianship. Please keep this up Ms. Faye, you are truly phenomenal.
This cover of yours brings me to tears every time. Not once has it failed. The emotion you put into this carried through my speakers and pierced me like a nail. You are something special, thank you for sharing your sound with this world Melanie.
I’ve played guitar for 25 years, never have I feel so inspired as by Melanie. ive been brought to tears more than once by this performance. This amazing young woman, the late nite hours of practice, the poster on the wall, intimacy with the universe... brings me memories of my youth. Thank you for being so intensely yourself 😢😊
You’ve made me realize how much I appreciate and love a new type of music your sound and just the way your music hooks my soul like a jagged hook I truly give you my upmost appreciation ❤️
It still amazes me that a human being can make a guitar make these beautiful sounds. It's that amazement squared that that human being was this age. It's a testament to a young person working hard at something they enjoy and becoming...amazing.
Wow, just amazing....gave me chills, that’s too much soul for one person. I only wish this video was longer. Stay soulful young one! Love from California! 💚
Goddess! On the Stevie Wonder scale of ten where a ten means I’ve broken down in tears, weeping like I’m ten and I’ve just tasted ice cream for the first time despite hearing about it, you’re an eight-on the Stevie Wonder scale!! You are the best flavor of Stevie Wonder ice cream. More seriously, I’ve played the sax since I was a child. Berklee Scholarship. Yadda, yadda, yadda. I can go over the reasons I never found my musicianship like you have, but I’m giving it another go, on guitar. So I’ve been researching, listening, ready to do it right this time round. But mostly I just want to enjoy it, even if I just play alone. So I see you here, playing alone, but for this audience, for me, and I’ve learned from it. Play for myself, and play for others.
I am thinking of you In my sleepless solitude tonight If it's wrong to love you Then my heart just won't let me be right 'Cause I've drowned in you And I won't pull through Without you by my side I'd give my all to have Just one more night with you I'd risk my life to feel Your body next to mine 'Cause I can't go on Living in the memory of our song I'd give my all for your love tonight
This is pure emotion, making the guitar sing.
Big facts

I know, with Jimmy Hendricks photo on her wall. She has good and smart parents.
Univ Univeral good smart parents, nigga she probably found out about Jimmi Hendrix her self
Pure talent
I’ve never had the urge to learn an instrument until i discovered you. Makes me want to learn for real. Brings chills to my spine

I started playing because of Melanie, I am 10 months in and I am self taught. It's going to be a hard road but you can do it!
@@monojhqm do you play an electric or an acoustic? What model are you using? How are you progressing?
It all becomes eventually easy so does progression of skill .

Ladies and gentlemen- the importance of developing tone and not just "riffs and sick chords"
Wonderful playing
tone & feel, complitely difrent things
@@eskoriakiebraqeyo7942 yea. You can have the tone, but do you have the soul?
Wrong genre. This is neo soul, not progressive math rock

She really is squeezing every last drop of emotion out of me!!
So true!
This makes no sense to me, I don't do any instruments
🤔 Makes me wanna throw all my gear in a chipper followed by my mere mortal hands.
It's the notes that aren't played, the breathing allowed for the backing, the perfect note choices that are. What beautiful playing.

Years after I saved this video in my favorites, I’ve rediscovered it. And it hits just as beautiful as the first time I heard it.

AABatteries321 can you please explain an 'octave jab', thanks newbie here
listen at 1:40 for the next 30 secs or so, at the end of each small run she hits the corresponding note in the scale an octave below
this is just bullshit to brag about how much "music ligo" you have...
