- And Why You Would Want To Learn It.
Hey guys! Andreas here. What's up?
I was out pushing the other day and as I went down a hill, managing my speed with powerslides, a few kids dropped their jaws.
I learned how to powerslide a long time ago and now I just take it for granted. And that got me thinking, a powerslide is such an essential skill to know.
So from there comes the idéa of this video.
For anyone who doesn´t have this "trick" up their sleeve, I hope I taught you something today. ❀

People powerslide on longboards all the time. Definitely not impossible to powerslide with them, although it is dependent on the shape of the longboard wheels and those will make it substantially harder. It's absolutely possible and longboarders do it all the time.
they always look like a terrified baby deer standing for the first time to me
Came here just to say this

Here's a proof you can get smooth slides out of aggressive race wheels. It's all about weight set to the front and turning hard.
Hand down and very slide for soft wheels that simple
Thanks for the tips, tho I prefer riding with soft wheels (newbie) for cruising around. 👌🏽
Thanks for watching! Hey, just cruising is the best. I enjoy it more every day.
this is prolly one of the better power slide tutorials talking about the frontside to backside turn in, then weight over front foot and hips perpendicular to the street
Makes it a little bit easier to start with momentum
if you think about it most of your weight is always on the front foot. if it wasnt you would slip out. your head is usually over your front usually. i smart
best powerslide instructional video on youtube. loaded with info, easy to understand, ans short!
Thank you!
Today I did my first attempts at powerslides. This tutorial will surely help me to get better at them :)
Thats great! Keep at it :)
i got really good by making a damp strip in the road so i could slide easier. that helped my board slides too
It's not impossible to power slide with soft wheels, but it is definitely much more difficult in my experience. Though it depends on how soft you call soft. I skate 85a - 95a wheels typically.
Yoy cant powerslide soft wheels? When we learned Ty Slides back in late '76 or early '77, all we had for wheels was 78A Road Riders. I went through aeveral sets of #4s, replacing each set when I'd worn them down to the size of RR 2s.
for anyone who wants to be able to ride on rough surfaces but be able to power slide get powell peralta dragons as they can ride on road like an 83a, slide like a 101a and ride on parks like a 99a
@whiteboygrayson which peralta dragons you recommend for that? There are a couple of different ones… thanks!
Super cool 😎
Oof, that woman at 0:25 hit really hard...
yeah :(
Gotta start small!
makes me nauseous...i really think the importance of helmets and the potential consequences of not wearing them should be taught in school
this is actually so helpful
Nice🙏
the urethane of the soft wheel you use matters. it is very possible to slide a soft wheel so long as you buy something of quality. cheap stuff from china does not get the stuff done as it uses a subpar formula.
Something like 75a powell snakes on the other hand, is a very slidey wheel despite its soft duro. this is due to the high rebound and quality formula. This is what wheel is most often reccomended for beginner freeriders. Some other options are Landyachts ez hawgs and Blood Orange bangers.
Where i will agree though is that soft wheels are terrible for skateparks. They grip quite a bit and just dont roll as well, no matter how high quality of a wheel you have.
thanks
nice slide
im pretty sure those bad ass brzil downhill guys skate softer wheels. i had a friend that could slide 85a bones wheels back in the 80s it wasnt ideal though. softer wheels have a lower frequency. the 93a dragons have a higher rebound so they can slide but they sound bad compared to some spitfires. i can control my slide better on harder wheels
❤❤❤
Hey! Thanks for your support. :)
is a pop shovit a 180 jump if so pull out for aim
Jävligt fet video. Bor du i Lindvallen året om?
Tack!
and backside powerslides?
you got my name
Almost :)
and then its rained the car traffic is aleady home after sweeping (i can't spell) wirley bird seed to the later light rain green turbo sideways width had to hop off the grinding seeds to tar roll slower
what wheels are you using for the soft wheel?
santa cruz slimeballs are great for cruising.
Did...did she die..?
I hope not. Probably just a lesson learned.
But for a longboard are hard wheels still better for sliding or ?
Not sure what people use for bombing hills on a longboard. But it's a different technique with staying low and dragging your hand. Ofcourse depending on what you're doing.
no. try some 75a powell peralta snakes. they are the standard in learning to do downhill slides. very slidey wheel
@@carlossalvatierra7051 I can slide now thank you tho haha this is funny coming back to this thread
where to find this kind of roads? 😍
Asphalt? Anywhere. I dont even live close to a city.
@ i mean this smooth kind of asphalt.
any town with a mayor that cares
im gonna call it a almost 180 ollie sometimes
pop shovits i think maybe not
Go out and do it loads. Repeat.
it was like food safe maybe not greese
Wait you put your weight on the front foot? I thought you put weight on the back foot...you know...to push the board forward no?
You sort of pivot on your front foot. Obviously not all weight on the front. Just enough to make it easier to slide the board.
Not impossible but very hard to learn
Yeah it takes time
its not a pop shovit hmm
dayum you really can't powerslide on soft wheels ?
I never skate with anything but that because of my work, isn't it worth even trying ?
because sometimes i go downhill and i just can't brake past 30km/h
or in the video do you mean i should learn first on hard wheels, i'm pretty sure i managed to get into a powerslide a few times on accident even on soft
Yes u can obviously. But for learning hard wheels are easier. Also im talking about street/ramp skaters. If you're a longboarder/cruiser you probably have softer wheels. Then you need more speed and commitment.
dog it is possible to powerslide on soft wheels lol
Yes ofcourse. Depends on what you're doing.
"...It's impossible to powerslide on soft wheels"
Ok, so you have no idea what you're talking about.
In this conversation we're talking about street/ramp skaters who are just starting out their powerslide journey. Obviously if you bomb hills at insane speeds the type of wheel is a preference.
@ Doesn't change the fact that you're just plain wrong. And you don't need insane speeds to powerslide soft wheels at all.
Another useless skateboard tutorial… this is the equivalent of “Pop, flip catch” being a kickflip tutorial.
