    One thing I might suggest an idea for either for later or the next planet...
    Your base is the nest for the Mauler (if it goes to the next). That is to say that the Mauler sits ontop/inside of the base as a central part. Building future constructions out and around the Mauler's nest...

    Had a thought, you mentioned how you had thought about having the two hangars have a method of being separately oxygenated, and I had a thought for that. In the arches, I noticed the wall is 3 blocks thick, so you could put in some hangar doors that face downwards that fit in the gap to the floor, and then put an airlock door in the middle of them in the pillar to allow for the depresurising effect. It might be a clever way to keep the arches, but have a way to separate the two hangars if needed, say if the base comes under fire, you can hit a button and the base goes into lock down where things like the arches lock down, seperating multiple parts of the base from one another meaning areas can remain pressurised even if another area is damaged.

      another option was to leave it how you had it but just replace the lower windows in the middle for doors so your not waiting for the hangar doors to open/close between bays or use 1 arch with the hangar doors and other arch with the window/door.

    • @MStrickkk

      +1 for this second idea, using a very skinny mod door. Window Doors I believe is the name of the one I have, not around the PC to check.

      True that, but for the archway that is 3 blocks wide, a gate would also be a valid option. Maybe a normal gate on top and a middle gate from chipstix213's mod at the bottom? I believe gates do operate faster than hangar doors, though I might be wrong.

    Recommendation: Use either a hinge or a rotor to convert from Large to Small Grid on your main base, in the room where you built your programmable blocks, and turn it into a server room using small grid timer and programmable blocks. It saves SO much space. Plus more opportunities to make it look good.

    set the antetnna range to 75 meters on Evermore -- saves power drain and Reavers have to get really close to detect it... add a timer block turning the antenna off/on every 20 sec that will give you time to access the timer block/ antenna to toggle it on or off when they do arrive

  • @Triaxx2
    @Triaxx2 Рік тому +10

    So, something to keep in mind. While the gravity is lower, so too is the amount of space Atmos have to work. I definitely advise adding an 'emergency hydrogen' thruster cluster to the design. Just one small tank and 6 thrusters would be enough, but will mean should you accidentally boost into the void, you have enough control to stop yourself.
    Second thought: Do you need multiple utility ships? Or could you get away with one ship that can connect via merge blocks to the appropriate tool/cargo combo. So say you have 3 Large Cargo and a grinder and your utility ship set's down on top and carries that around. And when you're ready to weld, you grab the 3 cargo and welder item. Could even do a cargo drill one if you find yourself in need of some resources fast.
    Lastly, turn the antenna in the Evermore down to 1km. It's unlikely you'll be more than that distance from it and if you fall from that distance you likely have bigger issues.

    • @zzzires5045
      @zzzires5045 Рік тому

      Merge modules are a pain but also amazing. Best to have merge and conveyor allowing you to keep the storage on the ship.
      Think grind up plates and weld em back in. Also less cost in duplicate parts (the grids until he has a cobalt mine)

    btw just like last video: For your Problem at 27:08 you can place the stairs or ramp block (in the Ladder group) with an interrior plate. It acts like the slope steel armor but in a one click fashion and you can bridge a 2 block gap or elevate 2 blocks in one click easy. I haven't seen this tip in the comments yet. Hope it helps some folks

    If you put a remote control on the base, and use antennae with short range, you can access the base control panel (to set properties of parts) while flying around, without having to dock. Actually... you may not even need the remote... I don't recall.

    Ion thrusters are the best choice for that planet. With little atmosphere the atmospheric thrusters would have to work harder just as if they were at the edge of space on the standard planets. But, ions won’t have that problem saving you power and fuel. Also, idea make a blueprint of the defense tower and then use a projector, when you want to build another tower simply adjust the projector’s offset and start welding!

    • @kmonk99
      @kmonk99 Рік тому

      Also build a welding rig into the tower blueprint, into the core of the tower, then all you have to do is construct the foundation and the tower builds 90% of itself. This way you do not have to build a megastructure that you only use once.

    Hey Maven. Some grea stuff this 2nd season so far. For your drill rig setups, has anyone told you about nested drill rigs? You essentially have 2 pistons, then bend the conveyors back up to the top, then 2 more pistons, bend up the conveyors. Rinse and repeate until your number have been reached. It will greatly reduce the height of the rig because your not having to build up for it :D

    Terminal cleaner script is good for tagging items in the control panel (like cargos) to the grid name they're attached to. It also will, by default, hide blocks you dont fiddle with on the regular. It can be turned off. Works great. Pop down a programmable block, slap the code in it, click run, it does its thing. Turn off the block, no system load until your ready for it. It'll work on all grids connected to the parent grid where the block is installed... So only need it on one grid.
    Redundant systems in combat is outstanding

    Maybe a little late to the party but maybe for other engineers. If your base has an antenna there's this little button on the remote access page which says control panel. Easy access to remote control panel on remote grids without having to do weird stuff or fly around searching for a control panel. You cannot access remote inventory that way (f.e. moving cargo from grid A -> grid B) but an easy way to solve this is to slap a remote control on it, that way you can get full access to all the features..

    Not being Reaver Food is good. Make some laser antennas to outpost towers with actual antennas on them. Laser antennas are not detectable. You could do three or four and use small grid spread out in several directions. Reavers will get distracted by the antennas and give you more time to get in and muster your defenses. I put my antennas under ground with just a laser antenna sticking up that the Reavers will destroy. Easy to repair just an antenna rather than a mini-base. It works great! (Also, leave the antennas off when you aren't using them.)

    Space engineers could add a once in a blue moon solar flare that damages electronics, but doesn't destroy parts so that until you repair, you lose everything from batteries to cockpits. Should also do minimal external damage to armor.

    If you don't want to be reaver bait, make the antenna's range about 100 meters. More than enough to allow you to land the thing next to you, not enough to call in reavers from everywhere.

    Regarding Reavers and the info I read on them, they have a unique targeting behaviour. They will only target antennae when their signal actually reaches them (up to a certain radius which is well within their spawn range) but only target on plain sight below 2km (I'm not 100% confident that this number is still up to date, it could have been increased after warfare II).
    So, it would not be much of an extra risk setting all antennae on Europa to 2km or just short of that to be extra careful. But be aware that they can detect grid motion from further away (I will not spoil the range for you). That means emergency landing your vehicles whenever you see a dangerously close Reaver marker might save you from a few attacks (but would still reward us with some dramatic moments of uncertainty 😉)

    Could you build a hangar around the Mauler that is elevated enough so you can slide a ship into the Mauler's hangar while the Mauler is docked/parked and you could be in the Mauler before needing to depressurize the base. Then your ships are all contained and protected and you can move between each ship without needing to depressurize anything...if that makes any sense. Lol. I'm really enjoying these videos and considering getting Space Engineers.

    It's airtight. I just found it and I love it. Something to consider to make your building easier.
    EDIT: Already a great idea, use them behind the beam blocks instead of junctions.
    One more thing.. You could use a 5 block gate (1 while open +4 when closed) and put them in the roof between the rooms. Close them before opening any hangar doors so you can have the arch ways open when you're inside.

    About to make a comment, and tbh I haven't finished yet. So if you already figured it out by the end just disregard. But when you said you wanted a walkway between both hangers but you still wanted a way to keep it a passage. Why not just use 2 single block hanger doors facing either up or down where the window is currently located, with a single block of space in between for pressure control. Yes you'd have to either pipe above or below so it would effect the exterior of your base. But that's not finalized yet and can be molded around. This way you have both a separation and the way to pressurize them individually if needed.

The connector gate is a great way to get into a ship without needing to depressurization the base, how come the utility ships don’t use this? second, the industrial cockpit has a door on the back you can enter from behind where it can be pressurized. If you have a ladder to the ceiling and a passage to the cockpit on the roof you can controll a welding arm to work on the base and conduct repairs, no ship required.

    Constantly returning to the base to resupply.
    Why is there no exterior cargo hatch behind a sliding/rotating door piece to reload your ship while still outside and skipping complicated interior maneuvering?

  • @BleachWizz

    So about that end problem... ( the pillars )
    Dont fix it...
    Thats normal, one is an exterior wall the other is an interior one, they have 2 blocks of difference if you wanna make the both centered and the inside is cool and offseted, just... leave, it's cool
