  • Welcome to another instalment of Psychology Skill of the Week with school psychologist Dr Carla Humphrys.
    This week Dr Humphrys talks about a Mindfulness Strategy 'Listening to Music with New Ears'.
    Simply choose a piece of music you love, sit down in a comfortable spot and take a few deep, mindful breaths in and out to anchor yourself. Play the music and give it your full attention.
    If you notice that your attention wanders, it happens, just bring your attention back to the music. After you have played the song once you may want to play that same song or a different one. Give it your full attention again, but this time shift your focus to different parts of the song, vocals, guitar, drums, etc. Spend about 30 seconds focused on each part.
