A tip for super jumping: Avoid spamming it and using it in the open. You become so much easier to kill when you're slowly floating above the Reinhardt shield with your head clearly visible, especially if there's a Widow on the enemy team. I'd know as a Widow main.

Thing for me is that I'm a good mercy player. I've took long effort and time to research other ways to play her and how to play OW in general. I've been stuck in Bronze ever since the Season started (back then I was a baaad player. I've improved quickly). Whilst playing, I noticed It's very difficult to be mercy in a Bronze game because not many players know the fundamentals. Like staying together or how much you should push or push back. Or consequences if you do specific choices. Many seem to just act. Which is completely understandable, because many people in Bronze are new players. It's just difficult.
Look I’m in gold and when open queue came out all the main supports stayed in role queue and dps and tanks went to open the queue. And everyone I play with dosent pick support only if someone else told them it’s not fair! And I’m disappointed that role queue will be gone I will miss it 😔 also the fact that I’m an only healer I can stay alive I might stop playing with them so I can play role queue they are the worst only picking dps and tanks makes me frustrated so I might start playing alone

I had a 80%+ winrate too, so as long as you're better than the enemy team's healers, you should be able to climb to the rank you belong to quite easily. This video and my climb are proof enough that elo hell doesn't exist, even on heroes with less "carry potential".
I climb from silver to plat from season 1 by season 9 w/ maining Mercy & Ana but since then I've let my little nephew play my account. I just got back into Overwatch for role lock & after my placement matches I was put in low Bronze! Trying to climb back to plat as a support has been a nightmare.
As a Moira main, I always go after enemy mercys because I know our dps will ignore her and she'll continually Rez every team member in sight. That said, love you mercy!😍
Mercy is probably the most balanced healer In my opinion. Sure she might not have the most healing possible, but it's very smooth and easy to do. (Its an auto tracking beam, it's kinda hard to miss. She has lots of mobility so she is still killable but not stupid hard. She does decent damage but shes not Zenyatta the one who out plays the sniper.
Mercy can’t outplay a sniper? PepeLaugh if you use talk you can 1v1 most dps including all the snipers, maybe h won’t win against Torb but that’s pretty much it. (Or soldier/mcree if they see you coming) and I have less than maybe 2 hours played total in comp on mercy across every account I’ve ever had
Ana is the most balanced hero to me. You can carry with her if you're good enough and it's completely based on your skill with her. You can sleep flankers and purple tanks allowing for easy wins if you're good enough. However, if you're bad with her you'll do less healing than a Lucio lol
Dear every Moira main in gold and below: STOP PLAYING IN FRONT OF YOUR TEAM! If you play behind your team you can get a better view of who needs healing and u can step up if u need to do damage:)

@@deltatia5083 Holding button would be "Toggle beam OFF." "Toggle" is a funny word that means you can switch between (typically 2) options, and there's no in-between. So "toggle beam" would be switch it on/off and it heals/boosts forever, while hold is it heals/boosts until you let go.
I've really grown a hatred of Mercy. Mainly because I've always been a gm support and I hated having to play her just for mass rez and never really recovered. That said, this video makes me wanna get back into her. It's laid out in a very relaxed and almost professional manner that doesn't try to force an opinion, but instead offer suggestions. Great work! I've decided to climb out from silver 'cause I know I can do better. I was thinking about climbing with Baptiste, but I find Mercy more useful because her damage boost. In quick play i never got too much value of the boost, but now I' m very suprised when I see how much it helps. I learned this from you-- Thanks a lot! 💕
When I first started playing this game around 2 years ago (and maining Mercy), I originally placed as silver. After a really bad run of comp play from getting tilted, I ended up in bronze for a month, and it was immensely difficult to climb back out. There's a lot of mechanics and sensibilities that a lot of us find to be "common sense" but they're still skills that had to be learned at one point- teamwork, gameplay reflexes and game sense are things that are second nature to some players, but in bronze these things might be intermediate concepts and skills for your teammates. (Or people are just irredeemably toxic. I've had both in those matches.) after my first year, I consistently rank in Gold and I feel like it's a rank I deserve to be in because my mechanical aim and skill is lacking when compared to veteran FPS players. Which is fine by me, even tho people still look down on me in quick play when they wanna make low jabs. This video is a great and helpful guide, and I'm hoping, even if I don't climb out of Gold, that I can remember these tips too! (hugging corners to hide from hitscan is something I still struggle with)
I play solo on OW and ranked gold, but it's SO hard to climb back up when solo queing because I end up having teammates who run in and die alone. I got to plat for one season but got dragged back to gold and even had a silver in one season. I'd consider myself a good player but most of the time my losses are when my teammates aren't grouping up or doing their roles. It really sucks.
i just play casually on quick play every now and again, but I quit competitive back in S12 and have no intentions of ever returning. I was one win from platinum, went on a losing streak and ended up in silver. Once there it was impossible to climb. I had perfect Mercy games, and was being punished for being on trash teams. I could go on a winning streak, and lose 1 game, and lose all my progress. It wasn't fun, so I stopped.

@@sethescope I know the feeling. I tend to practice my pistol before comp games now. 6 enemy Lucios an ally ai hog with double hp and no primary fire, and keep the hog alive while killing the Lucios. It's difficult cause Lucio heals himself but clearing the wave is nice.
How long did it take you to climb from bronze to silver? Sometimes I wish I really really wish I could just have a one on one skull session with my favorite content creators because for so many reasons you are entirely wrong even though you are entirely right. What I mean is this: You spent a brief moment in bronze and silver knowing you are a GM player, not only is this ethically wrong on every single level, but there is absolutely nothing you can prove to anyone hard stuck at this level because 100% of every one of your bronze and silver games is completely reliant on whether or not your team understands their job, how much of said job they understand, how much value they are getting, and whether or not they are even human... My point is this; I spent from season 1 all the way until season 8 in Bronze/Silver knowing everything I do know, and we have spoken on stream before and I have given you insight on why certain comps didn't work when you weren't playing Mercy. Knowledge isn't the barrier at any level, most of the time it is experience and effort that stands in your way. I only climbed out of Bronze because I decided I was going to. And in 1 night I climbed the 1500 SR into Gold and have stayed at Gold happily because at least in Gold people are trying to be organized and trying to understand the game... Granted that even in Gold it is a horrible shit show... But still it is at this point completely up to you and how you perform that is going to determine whether or not you make it to Plat! Something I have done on other accounts. And in Plat your Game sense means everything. Call outs and reaction time is everything starting in Plat. Everything above Plat is sadly the same and the only difference between Diamond and T500 is time, energy, and meta. LoserFruit, Muselk, TimTheTatMan... All of these individuals left Overwatch on the top of their game and returned to place Plat after being away for so long! No one gets the free pass straight to Diamond rank without putting in a lot of work. They are either God Tier pro players, or they have invested a lot of time and experience in a game to get there, but even a fresh account will never reflect what your actually rank is because the Matchmaker is designed to kick you in the nuts and keep you 1000 SR under at all times.
One problem with Support in Low Ranks (in my experience) is you get blamed a lot. I once had a Damage player constantly complain about never being healed. I was playing Lucio with a Mercy, I believe, and I had 12K heals and Mercy had even more.
I'm not a massive fan of GMs playing in Bronze even if they got there in a legitimate (-ish) fashion. I really love your work, this rubbed me the wrong way to an extent. I'm in Bronze and the number of Smurfs are making it a nightmare.
A few people made similar comments when I was streaming and I think it's completely fair/I understand completely! I definitely felt some guilt and haven't regularly been playing the account

I get that the intent was educational but if a Damage role player did this for the exact same reasons he/she would get trashed non stop as a griefer. I liked the video and things like these can be necessary evils in order to help others learn, I just dont like when theres a bias when other roles do the same
Something I highly suggest to a struggling console mercy player is up your sensitivity since you barely have to aim it can help exponentially with reducing downtime whilst checking surroundings and can help increase your reaction time on someone that may need healing
I got a bad reset off the last season, ended up a full rank lower than usual. It is quite eye opening to play Mercy at a low rank. No pressure/dives and the ability to make brazen rezzes (which I agree is a bad habit to get into). I think the "carry" potential of Mercy in this context is that your teammates are statistically going to get more chances to win the game. They'll die less, so they get more shots, more ult charge, and more chances to take out the opponent. They can surely squander those chances of course, which can be frustrating, but that's how a Mercy can swing the game. If no one is dying on your team, that's more consistent pressure on objectives.
Yeah, I think thats a big reason people get stuck in their rank. People hit a ceiling and that's where and when they can't see other aspects they need to improve, while it's still obvious when you see a teammate make a mistake.

I prefer playing dps and solo queuing is like drawing a card cause you dont know if you're gonna get good support/tank players or not, and it was especially worse pre-role queue. I get trashed on by my moira (for ex) because I'm dying too often, but I cant do much when shes literally only using the purple and not the yellow. Sometimes I have to actually spam "I need healing" to get someone's attention, even when I'm literally right next to my support, and the funny thing about this is that this all happens to me in mid diamond level, like wtf lol. Same goes for tanks, they don't create enough space for their other teammates. People like to blame their dps way too often, and although this is the case sometimes, it's not the case all the time. People always overlook this.
@Visionary Owl If I'm 17 hp and I see the enemy team advancing and my healer still hasn't healed me yet and I'm standing right next to them *clearly in view* and there isnt a health pack nearby, I'm gonna spam lol. I wouldnt spam if I can join voice chat. Sure, diamond is high ranking a bit, but it's literally so bad to play in, people dont always know what they're doing, and you'd be surprised about the crappy people I get queued with. A lot of the time I'm thinking in my head, "how the heck are they even in this rank??" My settings were changed from being able to talk with my team to no communication at all besides the communication bubbles in game and I cant change them back, so all I can do is use those bubbles, and its EXTREMELY frustrating, you dont even know, so give me a break because when I cant call out that I need healing in game and someone's about to kill me at critically low hp and I'm standing next to a dps moira who's not healing *initially* at the start of the game, I'm gonna *SPAM* to really get their attention. Trust me, I'm not the type of person to be like "im better than everyone and everyone else sucks," because I truly do notice and praise actual skill that other people demonstrate. It's literally so frustrating how people blame their dps because it's easier to blame them when they dont realize that they themselves are the reason why we're losing. I know whenever I'm the problem for losing, and whenever I realize that, I actually try and strive to make a change to better the team. Since the role queue changes, queuing has gotten a lot better and I'm getting paired with people who know their job now. Edit: Sorry, it makes me look like I spam initially. That's not what I do. I say that I need healing once, and if I'm about to die and my supports havent healed yet with no other circumstances, I have to spam to get their attention
I'm just frustrated. I climbed from bronze to gold and now I'm almost back in bronze. :3 sometimes it's just frustrating to play heal in low elo. I get screamed at for not healing the dva in the enemy backline and I lose sr. I'm so bad none of my friends can play ranked with me so i'm stuck there forever xd
Aw, try to ignore the toxic players. Play for yourself and minimize your deaths while getting the most value out of your hero. I used to be low masters on support but haven't played in over a year and can't seem to climb past low diamond/high plat :/.. I'm a tank main but I understand how frustrating playing support is
I don't go into voice chat and have text chat muted. niandra is rightfully an advocate for voice chat, but it doesn't work for me, which is an educated decision I've made for myself after experimenting with both. not having any communication with my team makes me a better player because 100% of my brain can be focused on the game instead of part of my brain always bracing for someone to get toxic. for me, the key to climbing from silver to mid-plat has been focusing on myself. dva in the enemy backline wants heals and will spam the I need healing button? too fucking bad, I'm not putting myself at risk to save her from her own mistakes -- trying to heal her is just feeding the enemy ult charge. she's going to die, and going into unsafe territory to try and heal her just gives enemies ult charge from my death and dva's inevitable death, which will just take longer and thus give more ult charge if she gets healed. it's not our job to heal every single bit of damage our teammates take. sometimes it is our jobs. healing is a big part of our jobs. but it is not the only job we have. sometimes a teammate will die because it is more important to damage boost someone than heal that other teammate. sometimes a teammate who dies will have to respawn normally because we won the fight and using rez outside of the fight is sometimes the absolutely wrong decision. a big thing for me has been learning what my job actually is, and it's really freeing. genji can sob for healing as much as he wants, but that doesn't mean you should put yourself in danger just to heal him when he's low.

this is exactly the reason why I sometimes watch vod reviews for heroes/roles that I don't play. it helps me know what I can do to enable them more when they're on my team and what I can do to make their lives hell when they're in the enemy team lol

it's because she's a doctor 😂 her teammates are already dying from gunshot wounds or horrific blunt force trauma (AKA Reinhardt's hammer). why would she want to risk potentially introducing an infectious disease that she might be an asymptomatic carrier of? lol
I got placed into mid bronze support in this beta season, which really surprised me as I thought I was much better, though I didn't used to play a lot of comp. I got a little upset about it and started looking for ways to improve, and your videos helped so much! After taking your gamesense and especially your positioning tips into position, I'm only 50-ish points away from hitting gold!
The secret to damage boost in bronze is to damage boost anyone who's NOT the DPS. Boost Roadhog, boost Zarya, boost Moira...anyone who isn't that Widow who turned her sensitivity up to 700 because she thinks it'll make her better at flick shots.
I have not watched the video and I am not going to but what I think that u have learned from playing mercy in bronze is that no matter how good you heal ur team is going to drag you down with them and then they are going to blame you lol
My main is D.Va, but I've been playing Moira more often recently and I've only played Mercy a couple of times. I think Moira is really easy and fun to play, especially if your main isn't a support hero. By comparison, I've struggled more with Mercy mainly because I'm not very familiar with her skill set, so this video provides some good guidance.
I have a question then, I’m a plat support and I really want to learn super jump. I usually hide behind corners and use valk staying low to the ground with hit scans but my issues are usually Genji and tracer. I somehow super jump without intention. I play on Xbox. Any help would b appreciated thank you
Yo, I just started playing yesterday and I've been digging Mercy. I've found very similar things already in this time. I actually can't believe people think she has no impact. Every game I've played so far she is practically been the goddamn Gandalf of the story. Completely changed the tide of battle if you ask me. I love the canceling damage boost with the heal. That's how I've been playing and I have loved it. My finger never really leaves the R1 button.
I love your videos. Ive been watching for a while and used to never damage boost I'm my games. Now I do and have hit master with mercy. (was low plat) with roll lock out my average damage boost numbers are 2 to 3k with my most in one game being 5.2k. Thank you so much for the advise you gave me to make me a better play. Ps. Mercys ult is 1 of my most favorite in the game.

I am in bronze with mercy and I was defending in Hollywood first point and the enemies came in and I was crouching in the bush on the point. nobody saw me and I was damage boosting my DPS out of that bush. after they used bongo I tried to destroy it with my pistol and then they saw me and started shooting. btw I used the Dragoon skin on mercy
I really needed this video, playing in silver and being a mercy main is so hard mentally. The team almost alway yells at me to switch or that I suck because I play mercy and I’m such a low level. It’s so hard because I love playing her and I know I’m doing a good job, but being a mercy main it’s so hard to climb when the whole team won’t be a team. Also the comments on this video of people appreciating mercy players is so sweet 😭😭

I am a Zenyatta main and I can say they target me in bronze. But I was stuck in a full silver game and no one touched me it was the best game ever everyone protected me I wanna go back
Awesome content! I'm high plat/low diamond tank main and you make amazing points. I've climbed from silver and I've noticed Mercy (a good one) can save two CP overtimes.
People who talk crap about Mercy just really don't know how to play her. She got a very low requirement to be able to do some healing, true. But her skill ceiling is really high. Such as body block damage so you can heal your target but also don't get yourself killed... You see this very rarely. There is a reason why I like Mercy and Anna the most from all supports.
Even high ranked players don't often notice or can't prevent a valkyrie mercy ressing behind their team when they started to engage the enemy in the front. I've seen those resses happen even in owl, but valkyrie is the key point as it allows mercy to continue healing as she sneaks behind enemy team for the ress. Then there's also ressing in front of enemy player faces who don't have enough dps or cc to bring her down during valk, such as dva and reinhardt and even winston. Dva who doesnt have missiles or boosters can't prevent a ress even in front of her nose, she does too little dps for that and rein needs 4 swings with valk regen to kill her as well, which allows for cheeky ressing and yeeting away.

I’m a Mercy player in silver, so these tips were actually really helpful / applicable, like not flying super high immediately after using her ult, which has gotten me killed a whole bunch! I don’t care too much about climbing, but I think if I did this would help me a whole lot :^)
I'm a Mercy player in plat, but my DPS is in silver and gold, and sometimes, when I play soldier, I will literally hold onto my ult until enemy mercy valks just to ruin her day lol it's awful of me, I'm the worst kind of person, I know
"alt account", but for real Mercy can be good in any rank, and she has impact. Shes not a hard character to pickup, and not a hard character to master. I think you agree with me on the first statement, however we disagree on the fact of can she carry. Which the answer is yes, however only when she is doing two things, shooting, and punching. There are no mainstream dps mercies anymore, unless they are smurfing, which inturn nullfies the fact that they carried because they went into the situation knowing that they wouldnt lose because their team as a whole is at a disadvantage. So yes Mercy is good, not great, and because of the playstyle players us her in, she is not a carry which implies you are fighting people at the same rank as peers.
I hate when people say that you don't need any skills to play Mercy. And that all you have to do in the match is just holding left click and being carried by the rest of the team. But that's not true. Just look at Niandra and then look at Mercy's players in bronze or silver and say again that she's no skill character. I wish more people would notice this difference.

Bronze is a trap that’s difficult to escape I’m a Hammond main that looks up to ball mercy’s always pocket reaper and any broken character I’m silver now that I can double boop thanks for the tips as well
So after immediately climbing to gold while starting comp I ran into a streak of problematic teams and am now stuck in bronze. I think to get out I 1) need to master super jump. I was pretty reliant on GA to get to high ground and out of trouble. Usually not an option in bronze. 2) I need to communicate a ton, and direct traffic. Only I just started OW and don’t have the game awareness. So as a Mercy player what are the two or three most important things I need to communicate? I feel like I’m constantly saying, “Group up, we can’t go in yet” and “Back up, back up”. This is listened to maybe half the time.
Very good Mercy video! My only issue is that you said super jump is a bug. It is not! You can achieve the exact same effect using her normal movements without the crouch key! On my channel there is a vid on it. Essentially (at 4-5m) you can jump and then before her heels hit the floor you can GA plus backwards key (S) plus jump to get the same effect without that crouch trick.

Look I’m in gold and when open queue came out all the main supports stayed in role queue and dps and tanks went to open the queue. And everyone I play with dosent pick support only if someone else told them it’s not fair! And I’m disappointed that role queue will be gone I will miss it 😔 also the fact that I’m an only healer I can stay alive I might stop playing with them so I can play role queue they are the worst only picking dps and tanks makes me frustrated so I might start playing alone

I had a 80%+ winrate too, so as long as you're better than the enemy team's healers, you should be able to climb to the rank you belong to quite easily. This video and my climb are proof enough that elo hell doesn't exist, even on heroes with less "carry potential".

As a Moira main, I always go after enemy mercys because I know our dps will ignore her and she'll continually Rez every team member in sight. That said, love you mercy!😍
Mercy is probably the most balanced healer In my opinion. Sure she might not have the most healing possible, but it's very smooth and easy to do. (Its an auto tracking beam, it's kinda hard to miss. She has lots of mobility so she is still killable but not stupid hard. She does decent damage but shes not Zenyatta the one who out plays the sniper.
Mercy can’t outplay a sniper? PepeLaugh if you use talk you can 1v1 most dps including all the snipers, maybe h won’t win against Torb but that’s pretty much it. (Or soldier/mcree if they see you coming) and I have less than maybe 2 hours played total in comp on mercy across every account I’ve ever had

Ana is the most balanced hero to me. You can carry with her if you're good enough and it's completely based on your skill with her. You can sleep flankers and purple tanks allowing for easy wins if you're good enough. However, if you're bad with her you'll do less healing than a Lucio lol

@@deltatia5083 Holding button would be "Toggle beam OFF." "Toggle" is a funny word that means you can switch between (typically 2) options, and there's no in-between. So "toggle beam" would be switch it on/off and it heals/boosts forever, while hold is it heals/boosts until you let go.

When I first started playing this game around 2 years ago (and maining Mercy), I originally placed as silver. After a really bad run of comp play from getting tilted, I ended up in bronze for a month, and it was immensely difficult to climb back out.
There's a lot of mechanics and sensibilities that a lot of us find to be "common sense" but they're still skills that had to be learned at one point- teamwork, gameplay reflexes and game sense are things that are second nature to some players, but in bronze these things might be intermediate concepts and skills for your teammates. (Or people are just irredeemably toxic. I've had both in those matches.)
after my first year, I consistently rank in Gold and I feel like it's a rank I deserve to be in because my mechanical aim and skill is lacking when compared to veteran FPS players. Which is fine by me, even tho people still look down on me in quick play when they wanna make low jabs.
This video is a great and helpful guide, and I'm hoping, even if I don't climb out of Gold, that I can remember these tips too! (hugging corners to hide from hitscan is something I still struggle with)

I play solo on OW and ranked gold, but it's SO hard to climb back up when solo queing because I end up having teammates who run in and die alone. I got to plat for one season but got dragged back to gold and even had a silver in one season. I'd consider myself a good player but most of the time my losses are when my teammates aren't grouping up or doing their roles. It really sucks.
i just play casually on quick play every now and again, but I quit competitive back in S12 and have no intentions of ever returning. I was one win from platinum, went on a losing streak and ended up in silver. Once there it was impossible to climb. I had perfect Mercy games, and was being punished for being on trash teams. I could go on a winning streak, and lose 1 game, and lose all my progress. It wasn't fun, so I stopped.

@@sethescope I know the feeling. I tend to practice my pistol before comp games now. 6 enemy Lucios an ally ai hog with double hp and no primary fire, and keep the hog alive while killing the Lucios. It's difficult cause Lucio heals himself but clearing the wave is nice.
How long did it take you to climb from bronze to silver?
Sometimes I wish I really really wish I could just have a one on one skull session with my favorite content creators because for so many reasons you are entirely wrong even though you are entirely right. What I mean is this: You spent a brief moment in bronze and silver knowing you are a GM player, not only is this ethically wrong on every single level, but there is absolutely nothing you can prove to anyone hard stuck at this level because 100% of every one of your bronze and silver games is completely reliant on whether or not your team understands their job, how much of said job they understand, how much value they are getting, and whether or not they are even human...
My point is this; I spent from season 1 all the way until season 8 in Bronze/Silver knowing everything I do know, and we have spoken on stream before and I have given you insight on why certain comps didn't work when you weren't playing Mercy. Knowledge isn't the barrier at any level, most of the time it is experience and effort that stands in your way.
I only climbed out of Bronze because I decided I was going to. And in 1 night I climbed the 1500 SR into Gold and have stayed at Gold happily because at least in Gold people are trying to be organized and trying to understand the game... Granted that even in Gold it is a horrible shit show... But still it is at this point completely up to you and how you perform that is going to determine whether or not you make it to Plat! Something I have done on other accounts. And in Plat your Game sense means everything. Call outs and reaction time is everything starting in Plat. Everything above Plat is sadly the same and the only difference between Diamond and T500 is time, energy, and meta.
LoserFruit, Muselk, TimTheTatMan... All of these individuals left Overwatch on the top of their game and returned to place Plat after being away for so long!
No one gets the free pass straight to Diamond rank without putting in a lot of work. They are either God Tier pro players, or they have invested a lot of time and experience in a game to get there, but even a fresh account will never reflect what your actually rank is because the Matchmaker is designed to kick you in the nuts and keep you 1000 SR under at all times.
And actually I don't even think Muselk or LoserFruit made Plat... If I remember right they returned and placed Gold...
One problem with Support in Low Ranks (in my experience) is you get blamed a lot. I once had a Damage player constantly complain about never being healed. I was playing Lucio with a Mercy, I believe, and I had 12K heals and Mercy had even more.

Something I highly suggest to a struggling console mercy player is up your sensitivity since you barely have to aim it can help exponentially with reducing downtime whilst checking surroundings and can help increase your reaction time on someone that may need healing

i think the main topic about mercy is that she is hard to carry not that she gets value or not, but a great video none the less.
Value is what defines whether you can carry. She got an 86% winrate, so she was clearly getting so much value that she carried.

I got a bad reset off the last season, ended up a full rank lower than usual. It is quite eye opening to play Mercy at a low rank. No pressure/dives and the ability to make brazen rezzes (which I agree is a bad habit to get into). I think the "carry" potential of Mercy in this context is that your teammates are statistically going to get more chances to win the game. They'll die less, so they get more shots, more ult charge, and more chances to take out the opponent. They can surely squander those chances of course, which can be frustrating, but that's how a Mercy can swing the game. If no one is dying on your team, that's more consistent pressure on objectives.

Yeah, I think thats a big reason people get stuck in their rank. People hit a ceiling and that's where and when they can't see other aspects they need to improve, while it's still obvious when you see a teammate make a mistake.

Yeah I feel you. I prefer playing dps and solo queuing is like drawing a card cause you dont know if you're gonna get good support/tank players or not, and it was especially worse pre-role queue. If I'm 17 hp and I see the enemy team advancing and my healer still hasn't healed me yet and I'm standing right next to them *clearly in view* and there isnt a health pack nearby, I'm gonna spam lol. I wouldnt spam if I can join voice chat. Sure, diamond is high ranking a bit, but it's literally so bad to play in, people dont always know what they're doing, and you'd be surprised about the crappy people I get queued with. A lot of the time I'm thinking in my head, "how the heck are they even in this rank??" My settings were changed from being able to talk with my team to no communication at all besides the communication bubbles in game and I cant change them back, so all I can do is use those bubbles, and its EXTREMELY frustrating, you dont even know, so give me a break because when I cant call out that I need healing in game and someone's about to kill me at critically low hp and I'm standing next to a dps moira who's not healing *initially* at the start of the game, I'm gonna *SPAM* to really get their attention. Trust me, I'm not the type of person to be like "im better than everyone and everyone else sucks," because I truly do notice and praise actual skill that other people demonstrate. It's literally so frustrating how people blame their dps because it's easier to blame them when they dont realize that they themselves are the reason why we're losing. I know whenever I'm the problem for losing, and whenever I realize that, I actually try and strive to make a change to better the team. Since the role queue changes, queuing has gotten a lot better and I'm getting paired with people who know their job now.
Edit: Sorry, it makes me look like I spam initially. That's not what I do. I say that I need healing once, and if I'm about to die and my supports havent healed yet with no other circumstances, I have to spam to get their attention

Aw, try to ignore the toxic players. Play for yourself and minimize your deaths while getting the most value out of your hero. I used to be low masters on support but haven't played in over a year and can't seem to climb past low diamond/high plat :/.. I'm a tank main but I understand how frustrating playing support is
I don't go into voice chat and have text chat muted. niandra is rightfully an advocate for voice chat, but it doesn't work for me, which is an educated decision I've made for myself after experimenting with both. not having any communication with my team makes me a better player because 100% of my brain can be focused on the game instead of part of my brain always bracing for someone to get toxic.
for me, the key to climbing from silver to mid-plat has been focusing on myself. dva in the enemy backline wants heals and will spam the I need healing button? too fucking bad, I'm not putting myself at risk to save her from her own mistakes -- trying to heal her is just feeding the enemy ult charge. she's going to die, and going into unsafe territory to try and heal her just gives enemies ult charge from my death and dva's inevitable death, which will just take longer and thus give more ult charge if she gets healed.
it's not our job to heal every single bit of damage our teammates take. sometimes it is our jobs. healing is a big part of our jobs. but it is not the only job we have. sometimes a teammate will die because it is more important to damage boost someone than heal that other teammate. sometimes a teammate who dies will have to respawn normally because we won the fight and using rez outside of the fight is sometimes the absolutely wrong decision.
a big thing for me has been learning what my job actually is, and it's really freeing. genji can sob for healing as much as he wants, but that doesn't mean you should put yourself in danger just to heal him when he's low.

this is exactly the reason why I sometimes watch vod reviews for heroes/roles that I don't play. it helps me know what I can do to enable them more when they're on my team and what I can do to make their lives hell when they're in the enemy team lol

I got placed into mid bronze support in this beta season, which really surprised me as I thought I was much better, though I didn't used to play a lot of comp. I got a little upset about it and started looking for ways to improve, and your videos helped so much! The secret to damage boost in bronze is to damage boost anyone who's NOT the DPS. Boost Roadhog, boost Zarya, boost Moira...anyone who isn't that Widow who turned her sensitivity up to 700 because she thinks it'll make her better at flick shots.

My main is D.Va, but I've been playing Moira more often recently and I've only played Mercy a couple of times. I think Moira is really easy and fun to play, especially if your main isn't a support hero. By comparison, I've struggled more with Mercy mainly because I'm not very familiar with her skill set, so this video provides some good guidance.

I usually hide behind corners and use valk staying low to the ground with hit scans but my issues are usually Genji and tracer. I somehow super jump without intention. I play on Xbox. I am in bronze with mercy and I was defending in Hollywood first point and the enemies came in and I was crouching in the bush on the point. nobody saw me and I was damage boosting my DPS out of that bush. after they used bongo I tried to destroy it with my pistol and then they saw me and started shooting.

If you can identify who is not a dolt on your team, feeding them ult charge all game with mercy is one of the more impactful things you can do.

People who talk crap about Mercy just really don't know how to play her.
She got a very low requirement to be able to do some healing, true. But her skill ceiling is really high. Such as body block damage so you can heal your target but also don't get yourself killed... You see this very rarely.
There is a reason why I like Mercy and Anna the most from all supports.

You should try playing in every rank esp plat because that's where most Mercy's are stuck in. And find out how to climb in each rank.
Even high ranked players don't often notice or can't prevent a valkyrie mercy ressing behind their team when they started to engage the enemy in the front. I've seen those resses happen even in owl, but valkyrie is the key point as it allows mercy to continue healing as she sneaks behind enemy team for the ress. Then there's also ressing in front of enemy player faces who don't have enough dps or cc to bring her down during valk, such as dva and reinhardt and even winston. Dva who doesnt have missiles or boosters can't prevent a ress even in front of her nose, she does too little dps for that and rein needs 4 swings with valk regen to kill her as well, which allows for cheeky ressing and yeeting away.

This video was really helpful to me!! I’m a Mercy player in silver, so these tips were actually really helpful / applicable, like not flying super high immediately after using her ult, which has gotten me killed a whole bunch! I don’t care too much about climbing, but I think if I did this would help me a whole lot :^)
I'm a Mercy player in plat, but my DPS is in silver and gold, and sometimes, when I play soldier, I will literally hold onto my ult until enemy mercy valks just to ruin her day lol it's awful of me, I'm the worst kind of person, I know

I think you agree with me on the first statement, however we disagree on the fact of can she carry. Which the answer is yes, however only when she is doing two things, shooting, and punching. There are no mainstream dps mercies anymore, unless they are smurfing, which inturn nullfies the fact that they carried because they went into the situation knowing that they wouldnt lose because their team as a whole is at a disadvantage.
So yes Mercy is good, not great, and because of the playstyle players us her in, she is not a carry which implies you are fighting people at the same rank as peers.
This is really helpful for people in every rank in GM and sometimes I forget there is super jump and super bounce lol u jump on your teammate heads

I hate when people say that you don't need any skills to play Mercy. And that all you have to do in the match is just holding left click and being carried by the rest of the team. But that's not true. Just look at Niandra and then look at Mercy's players in bronze or silver and say again that she's no skill character. I wish more people would notice this difference.

@@koschbka I feel bad for you. I hope if you do get a better connection, you never have to go back. Our family upgraded our connection, and now playing on over 200 ping feels like hell.

So after immediately climbing to gold while starting comp I ran into a streak of problematic teams and am now stuck in bronze. I think to get out I 1) need to master super jump. I was pretty reliant on GA to get to high ground and out of trouble. Usually not an option in bronze. 2) I need to communicate a ton, and direct traffic. Only I just started OW and don’t have the game awareness.
So as a Mercy player what are the two or three most important things I need to communicate? I feel like I’m constantly saying, “Group up, we can’t go in yet” and “Back up, back up”. This is listened to maybe half the time.

Very good Mercy video! My only issue is that you said super jump is a bug. It is not! You can achieve the exact same effect using her normal movements without the crouch key! On my channel there is a vid on it. Essentially (at 4-5m) you can jump and then before her heels hit the floor you can GA plus backwards key (S) plus jump to get the same effect without that crouch trick.

If you want some real insight on lower ranks, jump into games with me and I guarantee you will be blown away by some of the big brain moves in lower ranks.
