I was a lorry driver for most of my adult life, but poor health forced me to stop. My last two years before retirement saw me working in a care home, looking after young adults with learning difficulties. When I worked a late shift on Thursday evenings, I took my guitar along and sang this to the residents. They loved it, even though they had never heard of Warren. I did learn a few more of his songs to entertain them.
Sitting here wearing a brand new Lindley T-shirt while listening to this lovely bittersweet ballad. ( I bought 2 shirts and also left a small donation for David's family when Custom Ink oversaw a donation-drive benefit to help David's family with the massive medical bills that were left behind).
I was addicted to crack. Defferant drug but same thing. I love that this song has been covered by many great musicians. Addiction is a curse that I beat. I love Caemelita
What a fantastic rendition of this great song! I always felt that David Lindley could play anything with strings, just a terrific multi-instrumentalist.
How much more Zevon footage do you have? Any more from this show?? He & Lindley are in fine form here. Seems a shame to leave the rest in the vaults. I'd gladly purchase a concert DVD or something
Two musicians that have slipped out of our reach. Yet we have them here and I hope for a long time. What a songwriter you were Warren and David was there any instrument that you did not master wonderfully?
@@trespasserswill7052 , It sounds like a nylon or gut string instrument to me. I can't easily count the tuning pegs because not only is the video dark and grainy but the "owners" of this video stuck their damn commercial banner right across the middle of it.
On what show did this originally air? It's not on the 1976 Old Grey Whistle Test episode with Jackson Browne (where he plays "Mohammed's Radio" and wears a grey turtleneck).

That is a beautiful story. Thank you for doing that for them!
That was mighty Grand of you old Chap. Cheerio!!!
I work in an elder care facility for ex sex workers & hardcore porn stars. I play this & other classics. GG Allin, Black Flag etc.
They love it.
You can feel this if you were ever strung out

We'll miss you, David and Warren. Thanks for all you gave.
Two times great🎉
3 minutes and 45 seconds of pure joy watching 2 of my favourite musicians. Had not seen this video before - thank you!
One of the finest songs ever composed And written
Full body chills. Simply splendid.
One of my Zevon favorites, in a great rendition. Thank you!

RIP David Lindley
There will never be either one of these guys again
Gracias warren
This is my favorite song by this wonderful genius. It makes me cry every time I hear it because I relate to it.

Makes me cry because I’ve been there
Godspeed Mr Dave 🌹
You will be missed terribly 🌹

My favorite Zevon tune ❤
I learned this song the first day I heard it, so many years ago now, but I still play it at most get togethers jamming.
Takes me back to December 4, 1976 at the Palace Theatre, Manchester - brilliant.
Wow. This gives me goosebumps. Thank you!
Two of the true greats of the music world; sadly neither of them still with us.
nobody write a love song like Zevon!
Warren Zevon [with Jackson Browne]

Hilversum, Holland
His voice is beyond the magnificent
❤, thank you, reelin in the years. For the content.
One of the latest songs I've added to my solo setlist.
So great…
OH WARREN YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MISSED!
Thank you so much for uploading this.

Спасибо! Прекрасная песня Уоррена. 🙏
What a writer.
Mr Dave: sublime.
Well that was an unexpected pleasure.
My guy...this was so so dope! Thx for posting great music and footage
That’s ridiculous good

Tremenda interpretación
Sad day.
Linda ......
Is Lindley playing a 4 string Cuatro?
I hope you get an answer. I was guessing a resonator of some type.

I love this song. Title is similar to Marty Robbins' Camelia. Warren was/is a genius. And Marty was a genius also.
Fight the tears.

Enjoy every sandwich
nice. I really like GG Allin's version better. Was listening to it earlier. thanks for the upload.
Good Lord. Absolutely marvelous. Makes really miss California. I know that Pioneer chicken stand. Keep the Faith.
Any one who ever been a junky can relate to this. Even if they did not go all the way to mexico way for the real pure junk.
He's great but can't compete with GG Alllin 😅
Youre right in a way. Well Zevon is musically much better. But GG was a real serious fckin thing. He was blessed by the devil. His soul is immortal.
You ruined this song Linda Ronstadt originally did this song and you just ruined it terrible Rim edition of a Linda Ronstadt song Linda Ronstadt song
Yeah, he wrote the song, genius. Google it when you sober up.
What a jerk
so you're saying that the man who wrote the song ruined it. So much for your opinion.
Linda's version is fine but it doesn't capture the despair of heroin in the way Warren's version does. This and he wrote the firggin' song.
