Among the greatest gifts of Warren Zevon was to sound consistently excellent at shows-even better than on his albums. I love this song & the great man who wrote and sang it all night long. A classic performance here!
I was only 2 when he played this concert. I love Zevon, and wish I could have had the chance to see him live. That being said, I am trying to pass on his greatness to younger generations!
@@Oh_I_Will The significance is that his friend died and now after 42 years of toiling away at life , which at times can be hard, he can sleep , at last. If you are going to tell me that 42 years isn’t that long for today, I couldn’t agree more, but for some people the pain and/or suffering or just life being difficult is over, and they can finally sleep. This line “I’ll sleep when I’m dead “ was used in one of the episodes of “Ray Donavan.” When they moved to California there was a lot of Eagles music and this one song by Warren Zevon.
Stand In The Fire is one of the best live albums ever-right up there with Get Yer Ya Yasmins Out, Allmans Live at The Filmore East, The Doors Absolutely Live, Lou Reed's Rock n Roll Animal
When Stephen king was playing rhythm guitar in the rock bottom remainders, Warren zevon would get on stage with them, Warren insisted on Stephen king to sing lead on werewolves of London. He told him to howl like you mean it. SK dedicated a book for Warren after he passed .

Yes, but not by Warren Zevon. As I recall, he was not especially known as a drug user. But he drank like a fish. Around this point in his life, he was a prodigious alcoholic.
@@mitchberg8229 I would guess that he probably dabbled a bit in coke and pills, as those things were so incredibly prevalent in the industry during his prime, and go hand in hand with the alcoholic lifestyle to an extent. But yes, he is well known to have been alcoholic, not a drug addict.
Greatest artist of all time that most people have never had the privilege of hearing.
True!!! I was lucky that my fam loved looking for underrated artists so for me he was my first favorite musician!
Jann Wenner, Rolling Stone, and their stupid Rock Hall have omitted warren...thereby proving their uselessness
Top 20 FAV is more realistic in my opinion
Saw him live twice. He was the best!
got to see him in albany ny mid 90's.... great show !
such an underrated rocker
possibly the greatest American songwriter
except he's CANADIAN!!!
no hes not lmao

I am the black Grey one wolf I slept the sleep of the one who is a little white of the Clan of ⚫wolfram
Absolutely!
Warren's greatest gifts to humanity was to publicly detail his fight with cancer on the David Letterman Show. RIP
This should be commonly regarded as one of the greatest moments in rock history.

Honestly who DISlikes a warren zevon vid smh 2020. Mans fire
Marvelous interplay among all the guys with guitars on them and the drummer. Well oiled machine. Cool riff.
Tim Walz just quoted this today.....went over most people's heads
That got me back here for another listen
I heard that!!! Love that man!
What did he say?
Warren Zevon - vocals, guitars, piano
Randy Brown - guitar, vocals
Joe Daniels - drums
Larry Larson - bass
John Wood - lead guitar, vocals
One Smokin' Band goin' on there.....And a plethora of Delicious Guitar/Amp Tones...
Actually, it's John WOULD
@@OffBeatMagazine ah, I see he later changed his name due to there being to many "wood" named musicians. Thanks for the update.
Thanks,3 yrs. later.
Lead guitar player, John Wood changed his last name to John Would,
because he was always afraid of being confused with John Wouldn't.
Never listened before,i've found a treasure
So good
Me too!! He’s amazing!
Lost a friend this week of 42 years this is a great song

Just keep listening. He can explain a lot of things.

PRIVILEGE of seeing maybe. But I have been HEARING FOR A LONG TIME.
Love you Warren.

Hollywood, mid to late 70's, Warren, say no more.
This is one of my favorite Zevon songs.
Thank you, Jackson Browne, for helping Warren get his career jump started.
"He's sleeping, but he's certainly NOT dead....R.I.P Warren.

Thanks for upload. This is GREAT! Warren's energy is pure gold here.
White gold
Walz just quoted Zevon. Like he knows the song. 😂
This song is dedicated to my boyfriend. MIKE, this is what he says when he works late❤😢😢❤😮❤😢❤😢
GENIUS !!!!!!
Pure, unfiltered rock n roll. This is what a soul should sound like.

A horror show all of his own ❤
The fact that someone else knows who the Rock Bottom Remainders are gives me a tiny bit of faith in this godforsaken species.

WoW never knew what he looked like,he’s super and so is the band!😎

most awesomest thing I've seen on youtube in a while.
was that crossing guitars something i have never seen? wow first for me from Warren..
Doesn't Warren deserve a title like the Boss? He is so talented but not widely known.
I think that one’s taken, but how about The CEO?

Miss him!!!
Jerry Garcia, Warren, and JFK....if I could make a dinner reservation for 4, choosing my 3 dinnermates (no restrictions)...;)
I wish he could/would wake up and play some more great music!!!

Yes.
Yes!
He'll sleep when he's my Sharona.

Harmony part of this song sounds like Talking Heads.

I believe that he will...
Love the (salute to BOC?) "chainsaw" guitar attack!
I’ve got a .44 Magnum up on the shelf
Vote Warren!
Is the stuttering at 1:25 a sly acknowledgement of the song's debt to fellow Californians' My Sharona?
Nope.
This song predates My Sharona by at least a couple years. It's just Warren's great stage presence.
This was a great show...hard to believe the Capital Theater showed porn flicks during the day!

Rock pesado con base de punk rock. Warren era un monstruo, dominaba todos los estilos. Temazo.
A brilliant parody of the bloated arena rock scene.
People sure did a lot of coke in the 80s.
Delicious!!!
Keith Richards would have been shocked and offended by the amount of coke being snorted in Wall Street offices at the time.

I don't know about that one. Looks kinda gay the way they are grinding their two guitars together.....just sayin'.
Warren was known for grinding a few guitars, due to his obsession with G-strings.
