I installed this optic on a crossman 760 air rifle.I have now shot the riffle around 500 times during target/plinking practice, and the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope has done well. With this optic, I have neutralized around 30 pigeons that were invading one of my buildings. For my short range air rifle, I will continue to use this scope, but will be upgrading to a more powerful scope, when I buy a more powerful air rifle, in order to shoot at longer distance. For the money I have spent, this scope has truly been a great buy.
SHOT is only 5 weeks away, but do you know (or are allowed to mention) if they are putting an *illuminated* Horus or MIL-tree style reticle in the ATACR F1 5-25x56?
You have not spoke any of the 2nd focal plane ATACR 5x25x56 have you used one to give an opinion please I bought one used and am very pleased thank you for serving I enjoy all your tubes
I didn't realize you were based out of Evansville until now. I'm from Mt. Vernon it would be cool to get out and shoot with you sometime. You're what got me back in to shooting. Finishing up a build on a savage 10FCP-SR right now then on to a Remington 700 5R Mil-Spec.
John, question....putting my new 5x25x56 F1 ACTAR on new rifle build with a McMillan HTG M40A1 stock. I have concern with the comb height of that stock not being high enough to give me a proper cheek weld to get a good sight picture. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Please do a review on the Nightforce SHV 4-14-50 F1. It is very affordable and popular. I have looked at the MOAR reticle version at Cabelas and it was really nice but I would prefer the MIL-R. No one has a good professional dedicated review on this scope yet. I have a Remington 700 Police in 308 with a McMillan M40A1 HTG stock and a Timney 510 trigger. It currently has a fixed power 10X scope which is nice but I would like to have a variable zoom for better flexibility when hunting. Thanks, Semper Fi brother.
John, this is kind of off-topic but it is precision rifle related. What have your experiences been like with folding Manners stocks? I just ordered one and it'll be here in about a month. I'm extremely excited to get it (been my dream stock for years) and I'm looking for all of the experiences people have had with it.
Did you notice a difference in the glass quality e.g., able to resolve bullet holes easier at longer range than with the 5-25 atacr f1. Also, any tunneling at the low end like the 5-25? Thanks!!!
Great videos, and thank you for your service. I'm planning to get the new F1 4-16 for an AR-10, as well as an F1 5-25 or 35x... would you rather the 25x? or 35x... as far as for use on ELR, banging steel at a mile, spotting for a shooter, and PRS matches. I'm thinking I'd have it set at under 20x most of the time anyway. How's the clarity at 35x? thank you!
Love nightforce, and been trying to hang out for the 5-25 f1 atacr, but here in NZ is 5200, and the savage 10ba stealth is around the 2600-2900 point, so now considering Burris xtr ii 5-25 as is half the price, but unsure if the xtr ii is a good option at half the price or still if I'm better off saving for longer?
Hey, liked your video a lot! Thank You for all the good info! I do have a question. Just wondering what that wire is for? It's on the left side of that accuracy international rifle, to the side of that nightforce atacr 4-16x42. (it's showing in starting at point 9:42 in the video) Thank You!
Albert Archer Very True, you will love it even more, especially when you shoot behind the NF and actually can hit what your aiming at, cause it actually tracks like it's supposed to..
Azzie Blankenship.... You obviously have no clue what your talking about. Stop believing everything your nearest NightForce dealer tells you. Only 4 Manufacturers that have produced a 25x or greater scope have ever ACED a full tracking test.... NightForce is NOT ONE OF THEM.... The ONLY 4 that have achieved that goal are..... IOR VALDADA 1ST, HENDZOLT 2ND, KAHLES 3RD, US OPTICS 4TH.... Manufacturers that still to this day have NEVER achieved this goal.... Every Manufacturer NOT NAMED IOR VALDADA, HENDZOLT, KAHLES, US OPTICS.😂😂 There is another achievement that only 1 scope manufacturer has achieved recently. Mechanical click value... Every single Mechanical adjustment on the scope from mil/moa, parallax, magx, tunneling, fine focus, etc. Out of a Maximum high score of 40.... The IOR VALDADA RECON scored a PERFECT 40.... The NightForce ATRAC scored a 38 in a tie for 2nd with Schmidt & Bender. You might want to do more research before repeating nonsense. 😂😂
Albert Archer I think my research speaks for itself, I've owned all of them except for the Hensoldt and the Valdada. Go to the hide and tout about how great your Valdada is and see what response you get.. As far as your so called tracking test, I believe in what I hear from real shooters who tell their real life experiences rather than some Joe schmo who is being paid accordingly.. If there is anything lacking with NF, it's reticle choices, and they tunnel a little at the bottom end on the 5-25.. I had the Schmidt PM II 5-25, it tunnels terribly from 5-7 power and I hate the turrets, and the reticles need some new life breathed into them, the clicks for me are way too close together but the glass is great. The Kahles k624i has good glass but does give some CA, I don't like the parallax location, but the turret feel is decent and the SKMR3 reticle is great... I can't tell you how many horror stories I've read about the IOR Valdada scopes not tracking correctly and their customer service is a joke, they are made somewhere like Romania, a third world country, I think it's you my friend who needs to do their homework...
I've heard good things about ATACRs. But if 25 power is great, and 35 power is [the latest and] the greatest, at what point do you say enough already? I currently don't shoot over 600 yards and honestly never looked thru a scope greater than 25 so I may be a little uninformed here. There has to be a point of demising returns on power?
Question about night force scopes. If the battery dies in the scope are the crosshairs still visible? Or the scope is useless without a battery? I am skeptical about battery powered equipment but really love the NF scopes
I hope they do. That would be the perfect little optic for a mid weight hunting rifle in 6.5 SAUM, just not a fan of the Mil-R reticle though both would be usable in either scenario dialing elevation.
That would be an extremely expensive scope. Scopes are made in single-digit fold magnifications, the above being a five-fold increase (7*5=35). A 3-9x40 has a 3-fold increase, and a 2.5-10x has a 4-fold increase. The biggest increase I know of is an 8-fold increase, like a 1-8x. A 1-25x would be an absolutely HUGE magnification increase for a rifle scope.
I simply don't understand the fear some people have about accidentally spinning a turret. It was not mentioned in the video but the force required to spin the windage turret is about 5 times as much as needed to turn the elevation turret, so if you ever want to adjust the windage, you needs the hands of a gorilla. If you ever want to use the windage, like for F Class this scope is an exercise in frustration for this reason and should be avoided.
Great scopes but they are way over priced. There are cheaper alternatives that are as good and in some cases better. Your paying for the name brand with nightforce. I have a vortex venom that is as good as any nightforce in the magnification 5-25x56. Why spend upwards of 2 grand on a scope when you can spend half that and achieve the same results? Dont get me wrong-nightforce are very good quality scopes but in my opinon after owning Leopold, vortex, and a few other top quality branded scopes you can get the same quality glass for half the money if you choose carefully.
If you think a Vortex Venom is even half as good as a NF ATACR then you need to get your eyes checked. Also, considering you cant even spell Leupold I highly doubt you've been behind a Mark 5 which would be the only optic they make that would compete with an ATACR. BTW, I currently own a ATACR 7-35 and have had 5 or 6 Venoms.
I guess if all your shooting is from a bench against paper these scopes are fine. However for actual combat e.g. law-enforcement, military, civilian sheep dog in WROL its useless and limiting. The best snipers in the world have scope that go up to 10x only! they make 1200 meter shots plus ! That rifle probably weight 16 lbs! or more. In combat you can't move. Top snipers of all time had iron sight up to 2-3x magnification. In my opinion Nightforce ATACR 4-16x42 is the best scope they sell and the only one you ever need for tactical application. If your into 10lb pig barrels and hitting the symbols on playing cards at 600 yards then by all means go for a 35x scope. But if you want a rifle that useful in a combat or hunting situation...
Aqua-cel_Ag That is interesting. From my experience as both a Marine Sniper and a SWAT Sniper as well as a Tactical Competition Shooter, you are wholly incorrect. The reason that some of the most famous Snipers in history used iron sights or low magnification scopes was a technical issue not a tactical one. Simply stated, the scopes of the time were not very reliable. Having the ability to crank your magnification up for target ID, to read mirage or to identify a target is a HUGE advantage when you compare it to the fixed 10x scope that was on my rifle for most of my military career. Now I will admit that in a Law Enforcement capacity, it is more important to have low-magnification available than it is to have a very high top magnification. Field of view and situational awareness is far more important than resolution. From a weight standpoint, the rifle in the video is a pretty light setup. In fact, it is lighter than either my Marine Corps M40A1 or the AE MkII I used as a SWAT Sniper. Weight often comes down to personal preference. Technology has advanced to the point that we can make these rifles as light or as heavy as you can afford.

Thanks alot! I will use it on my savage arms Axis XP II stainless 25-06 on western capercaille! Great gun needs a great scope!
john your timing is impeccable just started to think about a new scope for my savage build. thanks for the heads up on the nightforce .
I just got mine! Such a nice piece. I got the 7-35 with the Tremor3
Well, damn. I thought I knew which scope I wanted. Looks like I may be revising my Christmas wishlist.
Great vid as usual! Have a great Christmas !
I have one on my MRAD. LOVE IT just simply a great scope and the Tremor3 is GREAT. And the 35 helps at 1500 meters plus. Oooh rah
That is a great place to shoot. Used to be called Core now it's Altus
I guess money is no object for some shooters and I feel fortunate to have a 8.5 x 25 MK 4 Leupold
I loved how you guys did the intros for this video and for the Ruger Precision Rifle review! Very cinematic!
Thanks. We can't do them for everything, but felt this qualified.
SHOT is only 5 weeks away, but do you know (or are allowed to mention) if they are putting an *illuminated* Horus or MIL-tree style reticle in the ATACR F1 5-25x56?
My dream scope. I live a hour away from Baker Florida.
You have not spoke any of the 2nd focal plane ATACR 5x25x56 have you used one to give an opinion please I bought one used and am very pleased thank you for serving I enjoy all your tubes
Looks sweet
Mrgunsngear Channel indeed
Have u ever done any reviews on the IOR Valdada tactical scopes? I hear very little about them but what I do hear is awesome!
I would love to see the just anccouned Vortex Viper PST 5-25x50 Scope, hopefully you guys can make it happen, keep up the good work!
Looking for a new 300 win mag. Figured I'd ask the comment section with 300 win mag is the most accurate out of the box?
Thanks for the review, I want one.
John, question....putting my new 5x25x56 F1 ACTAR on new rifle build with a McMillan HTG M40A1 stock. I have concern with the comb height of that stock not being high enough to give me a proper cheek weld to get a good sight picture. Any thoughts or suggestions?
The 7-35 is a beast, get one!!
Please do a review on the Nightforce SHV 4-14-50 F1.

Hi John, I've been seeing alot about Athlon scopes. I'd like to see you do a review on one of them.
Great videos, and thank you for your service. Does and ATACR model come with illuminated reticles?
Love nightforce, and been trying to hang out for the 5-25 f1 atacr, but here in NZ is 5200, and the savage 10ba stealth is around the 2600-2900 point, so now considering Burris xtr ii 5-25 as is half the price, but unsure if the xtr ii is a good option at half the price or still if I'm better off saving for longer?
John whatever happened with the 700 long range, I'm looking forward to your thoughts on that rifle. Love the channel keep the videos coming.
Whu made your rifle ? Looks great
diggin the fallout t-shirt...
And the RETICLE ILLUMINATION feature and its controls??
another great vid !
+Jordan Stephenson that is a remote display for a laser rangefinder. This is not my rifle so I don't have a lot of info on the product.
8541 Tactical That's Great! Thank You Very much For Getting Back To Me! Looking Forward To Watch More Of Your Video's!
Thanks. Semper Fi
Hi! Please tell me how much you like this sight? And how much is the beast series?
Now Look through an IOR VALDADA CRUSADER.... I must warn you... You will never look at your Night Force with the same loving feeling again. 😂😂
Albert Archer

Hi John,
Great work. An early xmas present for your AI in the firm if a new set of skins?
Great review!
what's out there in straight pull bolt action rifles and do you think it's any good?
mikethemaniac1 Blaser, but most of their offerings don't have detachable box mags. Excellent rifles, if you don't need a dbm.
We reviewed the Blaser Tac 2 some time back. If straight pull is what you are after, thats a good candidate.
I've heard good things about ATACRs. But if 25 power is great, and 35 power is [the latest and] the greatest, at what point do you say enough already? Need scopes that can see alien invaders millions of lightyears away from earth
how many differences between it and the 5-25 ATACR? besides the magnification...
Any news of a new beast 7-35?
Can you do a quick review of the tango down battlegrip "flipgrip"?
I'm holding out for the 10-50 X 56 40 mm tube. With 837 Moa ......
How’s that working out? 😳😂👍👍
Well! I wasn’t expecting to see our little range on your channel lol Kinda crazy that you drove right past my house to the range 😂
how much does this cost , as well is it available in Canada ?
Why do i feel that you are slobbering over that scope.. not that i blame you of course 😜
Jewelry 😍 Love it !
Question about night force scopes. If the battery dies in the scope are the crosshairs still visible? Or the scope is useless without a battery? I am skeptical about battery powered equipment but really love the NF scopes
the battery only powers the illumination, the reticle will still be visible even without battery.
Trying to find prices on their scopes but their website is shit.
John, will they offer the Mil-C in the 4-16 later?
I don't have any info on it right now, but I will update if I get some. We will definitely be hitting the Nightforce booth up at SHOT this year.
I hope they do. That would be the perfect little optic for a mid weight hunting rifle in 6.5 SAUM, just not a fan of the Mil-R reticle though both would be usable in either scenario dialing elevation.
Hi, At approximately 1:50 seconds what is the mount and accessories for the scope shown?
Spuhr ISMS
Thank you!
What’s the price point in 2024?
How does this compare to the schmidt and bender
Bwahaha "scooping your eyeball out"
Never played Fallout but like the shirt. My son gave me one. Wonder if he will give me one of the new scopes. Don't think so.
Is there any tunneling on the low end of the magnification
I know it maybe too late to answer this but yes it does tunnel,7-9.
what bipod are you running on that?
A. advanced
TAC. Tactical
R. Rifle scope.
Yes me drunk again can't find pants
Hello. Do you know why nobody ever made a 1-25 scope.
That would be an extremely expensive scope. Scopes are made in single-digit fold magnifications, the above being a five-fold increase (7*5=35). Sunshine_Shooter thanks for this info. Never knew this. But wouldn't that be great to have such a scope
Gerbrand Grobler With the way PRS and 3-gun are driving the industry to newer and greater heights, you may see such a scope someday.
Does this scope have a tunnel effect?
Who makes the barrel on the rifle you have on the bench?
Michael ODell Proof research I'm pretty sure.
Atacr. 5-25 enhanced moar in kents market in tremonton $2000

what caliber were you shooting?
jeff bloom mostly .308. That is the norm for these type of things. Easier on the guns.
Love high magnification, who knows, maybe someday a 1x-40x.... dreaming
Osprey makes a 4-40x56. Pretty nuts.
What flavor bipod is that??
B&T Industries Atlas
Gotta pay to play I guess lol Holy crap!
Night vision how is many yards, hunt the Target. Pl reply now.
Nice
Looking at this. 3700 is pricy tho
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it
I have hard time seeing crosshairs on NF think I'm going to switch to mark4
Great scopes but they are way over priced. There are cheaper alternatives that are as good and in some cases better. Your paying for the name brand with nightforce. It's going to be 3,600 hundred dollars?
Made for certified killers that can't shoot with an iron sights.
good deal
Don’t you loose 20 MOA of elevation travel
From the 5-25 ATACR
Why qud u loose 20 moa on atacr
I guess if all your shooting is from a bench against paper these scopes are fine. However for actual combat e.g. law-enforcement, military, civilian sheep dog in WROL its useless and limiting. Intro a big waste of time....just get to it for christs sake
Clickbait ;(
False advertising man cmon!!
completely overpriced. i can get a leica for 1/2 that.
