Just picked up from a friend a Nightforce nx5 8-32x56 SFP and while it has some trades offs I'm excited to learn it and use it on my Tikka t3x upr 6.5 creedmoor
How to use the MRADs to calculate the range when you own a second focal plane scope? The manufacturar writes it is with 10x zoom 1 Mill but how to caltulate it if i zoom more or less?
ramb0nat0r choose two magnification too use 1 low 1 high you’ll never miss ive dropped a lot of deer and other animals at different ranges without ranging the I use the dope system
Learn your setups mpbr and most situations You wont have to think about hold etc. No matter if you use mils or moa to calculate range You need an estimated size of the target . I have an old Mark 4 scope that is sfp and ranges at 20x . depends on the mfr of the scope .
I had a shit ffp for my first one wasn’t empressed always said sfp was better then I got a good ffp I wouldn’t go back it’s more accurate less dialling if you get a good one you won’t go back.
You failed to mention that on very small targets the center dot on FFP can sometimes be too large. This can actually make precise long range shooting difficult in some situations........
Thanks for sharing this video seen here in the UK.Should i get First Focal Plane or second Focal plane if im only shooting Rabbits up to 100 yards, if i Zero a Scope at 25 Yards can i use the turret read outs say for 50 yards and 100 yards will it be spot on or do i have to zero the scope manually for these distances.
That's going to depend a lot on what cartridge you are shooting, your muzzle velocity, and the resultant trajectory. For rabbits to 100yards, I would recommend a high velocity varmint round (like .17 HMR or .22-250 Rem) that has an extremely flat trajectory for 125+ yards, a FFP ret, magnification range in the 4-16 or 5-25 range, objective lens in the 44-50mm range, and very importantly, a side parallax adjustment that goes down to 10 yards. This kind of setup will allow you to zero at 100 and not be required to dial the turrets to make good hits. I'd use a low-power for scanning the field, then throw it to higher power when you find a target, quickly take out the parallax, crosshair on, and send it.
In fact, every vermin hunter are over kill using very expensive scope and they think that they are a real sniper in iraqy war.. I do the same, shot only under 50 yard's using airgun, but my scope has 24-32 magnification.. sorry for my bed English..
That is the best video I have seen on this subject. Good job!
Great explanation and examples. This definitely cleared up the questions I had.
Thanks for posting this, very helpful and well explained.
Thanks, Matt!
The view through the scope helps clear things up. Thanks.
It did for me also.
Recently purchased the 1-8 ATACR, can’t wait to start shooting with it.
Good stuff, thanks for the detailed description
Great explanation and fantastic visual aids. Thanks man!
Never a problem holding for wind with second focal plane because the shooter will relate the hold to the known size of target.
Thanks for a straight forward and clear explanation!

How’s it shooting for you?
This video was really good. Thank you for sharing.
That was a very good explanation. I do believe that I would go with ffp
Is that because you plan to do more long distance shooting with higher power?
Now I understand the difference. Thanks
Congratulations for the great video
Excellent. Thank you!
Great explanation. HOOAH!
love a thinner reticle - would love capped turrets
Just thought: You should put the inverted T for Measurement on the FFP and the Crosshair on the SFP. Best of both worlds!
This was very well explained 👍
What power is the MOAR-T reticle calibrated on 7-35x56 (C626) ? The power selector doesn’t have a R it only has very small dot on 17.5x
FFP is what I use, so much easier for me.
Does ffp even matter if ur scope is a 1-6x and your shooting style is majority 100 yards or less?

Who do i have to blow for a sfp moar nx8 4-32????
love my atacar 5 to 25 by 56 in SFP with moar T in it.
Thanks ,, I’m 59 yrs old and never cared about these things,,,, or should I say, I was not educated on it, 👍👍👍

Thanks for the good vid.

I use the centre top edge of the dot for a precise POA. But a centre diamond would work even better.
Battery type for a 5-20x56 SHV Nightforce scope please?
I wished that NF had some entry level ffp mrad scopes. Most ones start over 1500 euro.
Champion. !

There will be no bright white target to help you focus
Im a 2nd plane guy, but I'm old.
I like fixed power
SFP ftw.

>bed English
I prefer chair English.
@@heksogen5400 I must say Im partial to chesterfield English myself although bed English does sound nice
Also I got a 50mm scope way better I would get a 45mm again way better view.
Yeah this is way above my paygrade - think I'll watch airsoft or paintball wars w/ kids getting pelted in the face
The Russians are foculing you😁
