So since Bloodraven is still alive, he technically is still the legal Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, and every Lord Commander since have been illegally appointed.
Bloodraven’s connection to the weirwood network and powers as a greenseer likely started following a near death experience. Like Bran and Jojen possibly Patchface. It seems these experiences helps open the third eye. So maybe when he lost his eye fighting in the rebellion.
I thoroughly enjoyed tonight’s live chat stream. Shout out to Aziz, Ashaya and all the Chatters. We came up with some good questions. The North Remembers. Let’s hope GRRM remembers to finish all the books. 😀
1:30:00 People interpert that as Mel being sure that he was the enemy? I figured it was just confusion and her automatically assuming that up front, a guess.
Maybe Bloodraven is more of an Obi-wan Kenobi type, but more of an "ends justify the means" version, where he doesn't recognize or doesn't care, of the consequences of training someone like Euron Greyjoy and created his own Darth Vader in a way.
that is Michal Schick. She recorded those quotes just for this episode (and a lot of our other ones). If you'd like to contact her she's at @inkasrain on twitter.
You guyyys! How do you *always* manage to upload new videos when I most need them? My washing machine broke mid load so I have a tonne of hand washing to do. Now I have something brilliant to listen to. 🧺🧺🧴🧽🧼 🛁👏🏻🚿 💦 👖👚🧦
What if cold hands is the Nights king... and now he’s forced to be on the other side after being killed... maybe brought back... he was killed by the nights watch?
I think it would be too much if, in the end, Bloodraven was responsible for the New Long Night via Euron. Like "he he, had he done nothing, all would have been great, the Others would never have been able to invade in the first place". That would not be a satisfying story. I´m sure PoorQuentyn is right about the Crow´s Eye sounding the Horn of Winter from the Hightower, bringing down the Wall. But I think Bloodraven would also have been responsible for Benjen finding the Horn before the Others and the Wildlings. That would bring some balance to his character: achieving great things for the living, while also causing destruction by trying too hard.
Bran's seduction by Bloodraven in his cave, is eerily similar to this scene from Lexx. Bran=Kai, Zev=Meera, and Stanley as Jojen. ua-cam.com/video/R_lO4743tko/v-deo.html
I think Martin made a big deal about Aemon taking the black overBlood Raven because he’s syncing this world to our real world view of pure royalty/ aristocracy (albeit historically ) to Aemon’s true Targaryen heritage. Even if blood raven was legitimized.
Netherspark I think it’s before even that. To the age of legends. Before the doom of valyeria was the doom of ASSHAI where we KNOW there were dragon lords. The survivors built the age of dawn, and migrated after dawns collapse to Westeros. They built highgarden’s first floor and the wall castles (forged black stone SIMILAR to valyerian construction but not as ‘elaborate ‘ This goes FARTHER to the age of legends and the breaking of the world. The spiral is the pattern (the phi symbol- a circle with a line symbolizing life/death, female/male, WHITE/BLACK) . It was BROKEN/shattered by the entrance of the dark one, the true power (not to be confused with the ONE power). The ravens are the symbol for this dark magic, and their ‘channelers’ eventualky can become blind (aemon) and their eyes turn black. Daenarys is the reborn dragon, she is ancient (asshai) raised by old ones (bravossi). It’s all in the age of legends in the wheels of time books. The purpose of this dark one (I’m guessing the night king is his ‘embodiment’ in our realm) is to ‘remake creation in his own image’, and the purpose of the dragon is to restore creation to its balanced state once again, the dark/light, life/death two powers working as one ‘river’, one power, to turn the wheel of time 🤣
The Lord of the Halls of Castle Hillcrest, wielder of the Valyrian Steel Machete "Everglazed"! No joke, in real life he crafted a homemade machete and named it that, he sent me the pic a few years back.
He can’t come to him except in dreams because he contacts him by magic. The Saidin as it’s called in the age of legends. This magic operates through webs (trees?), ravens, dreams, and causes the eyes to turn black and eventually blind. Go back to the age of legends! That’s where the beginning is. Asshai. 👈 Then to the age of dawn and onward...
Also, the children say "they killed him long ago." Since the Children live remarkably long lifespans, the term "long" to THEM would mean hundreds if not thousands of years. Not like 50. Which is when the Raven's tooth/coldhands would have been killed.
Regarding the first comment, I don't think a prayer indicates knowledge of the entire language. For example Arya and "valar morghulis". However, if Coldhands does know the Old Tongue, I agree that makes it super unlikely he's a Raven's Tooth. Regarding the length of time: I don't agree with this argument because they are speaking to Bran, who is a child, they know that "long ago" has a different implication to someone his age, and would speak accordingly. If the Children were speaking to each other (say Bran overheard them) and they said "long ago" I would agree for sure. But as written, it is at best unclear.
I may be the minority watching / listening to this but the readings with the woman's voice is far too cringy and hard to pay attention. I'm not sure if its audio on my part but there's crackling and popping every other word and the tone difference going back and forth is just too hard to listen to. I found myself skipping the readings and I personally don't think you have to quote from the book every time you try to emphases something or make a statement.
Whoever is doing the narration is amazing. Her inflections, tone and pronunciations of GRRM words is perfect.
Bloodraven, he's "Magically Suspicious!" #LuckyCharms
So since Bloodraven is still alive, he technically is still the legal Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, and every Lord Commander since have been illegally appointed.
Well he’s technically a deserter.
He deserted his watch so he is no longer a man of the nights watch if you ask me.
@Dean Sutton nobody cares, you’re stupid and probably a bot
Yes.. and every lord who sailed away and never returned is still lord and all their successors illegitimate smh...
#deserter
Bloodraven’s connection to the weirwood network and powers as a greenseer likely started following a near death experience. Like Bran and Jojen possibly Patchface. It seems these experiences helps open the third eye. So maybe when he lost his eye fighting in the rebellion.
That would fit with Oden -sacrificing his eye for magic wisdom.
I’d add Daenerys to this list as well. She had a couple near death experiences..
At this point I'm pretty sure GRRM is listening to you guys for theories to finish all his plotlines with.
@ That's exactly what I would say too if I was GRRM and ripping off everything straight from Westeros History.
@ yeah but there is also the show's influence..
I'm unfamiliar with the channel but who ever read at the start was professional
Whoever did the reading, you're amazing.
Absolutely seconded. Perfect reading.
His voice is so relaxing, I fall asleep to it

Right off the bat, give it up for Michal. The sing-songy CotF voice was very creepy and cool.
Then I got to the raven voice... And its even better.
I’m now on my third read of the books and your in depth analysis is simply incredible!! As always, thank you!
Aziz always has his shirt game on point.
Jake Langs every time
I really think he was tricked into the tree. It’s why he warns Bran not to stay too long.
I agree, I think BloodRaven stayed too long because he found out he had control over the Realm and he just couldn't help himself.
AU Packmule if he stays too long he will show signs of using this darker ‘magic’, black in the eyes or the blindness...
Thank you guys, loving the collaboration 😘 Hugs & sunshine 🌞 N
Thanks for that, love me some BloodRaven Lore. Great job! 🤘 Beltalowdaaa!!!
Imagine a series or a movie about this awesome character 🤯

People interpert that as Mel being sure that he was the enemy? I figured it was just confusion and her automatically assuming that up front, a guess.
14:35 brave Danny flint had a song written about her. Lol
And the knight king
A sad song that’ll make you weep according to Lord Wyman Manderly
I loved it! thank u for the work team
Since his mother was a Blackwood, wouldn’t he have had some connection with the Old Gods since a child?
There’s probably a story there. Maybe visits the Blackwood home as a child and has a strange occurrence with weirwood tree
Tyler Evan - yeah. Gotta be something...
Yes!!!! I been waiting for this one!
The crows literally swear their oath to blood raven (the weir wood tree). I don’t think those ravens are just for messages they are his eyes
I have been looking forward to this one!
37:51 Jon was elected in a storm of swords. I always thought the 5 year gap was for after SOS and b4 AFFC/ADWD
Love this subject! Great video! Thankyou!

i know it's been two years, but does someone know the name of the female reader or where to find the audiobook with her voice?
that is Michal Schick. She recorded those quotes just for this episode (and a lot of our other ones). If you'd like to contact her she's at @inkasrain on twitter.
Thx followed!❤
Call me crazy but i dont think the 3 eyed crow and bloodraven are the same person or entity just have a feeling
I know Aziz mentioned this at the very end, but yeah, the sound quality was excellent in this episode. Keep up the good work! 😊
You guyyys! How do you *always* manage to upload new videos when I most need them? My washing machine broke mid load so I have a tonne of hand washing to do. Now I have something brilliant to listen to.

I want my ringtone to be Aziz saying, "It's a raven after all...."
great lighting!
What if cold hands is the Nights king... and now he’s forced to be on the other side after being killed... maybe brought back... he was killed by the nights watch?
Good ol days.. love the tee 😉

Bloody Raven it is !

Imagine BR procrastinating saving the world by watching Shierra 😅
Blood raven was infamous not famous. Aemond is legit royalty
Do you think the root is growing through the eye that was still there or the empty one
I think the Others have been 'active' since the Doom of Valyria, slowly building their numbers now that their biggest threat is gone.
That makes so much sense!
Netherspark

Why did he not know what bran was saying when he was asked if he were 3 eyed crow?
bruh who was the patron that was wielder of the Vylarian steel machete? lmao
The Lord of the Halls of Castle Hillcrest, wielder of the Valyrian Steel Machete "Everglazed"!
No joke, in real life he crafted a homemade machete and named it that, he sent me the pic a few years back.
Is that a green screen? Or just the way the new camera looks?
Aidan new camera

Asshai. 👈

Jojen paste up!
01:07:35 I disagree. Why would one of the Raven's Teeth speak the Old Tongue? Coldhands had to have been a First Man

Westeros History ah! Good point. I can't wait to find out who ColdHands is. My heart was broken when I found out it wasn't Benjen
Westeros History
He is asshai I’ll BET you... maybe one of or the ones who built the forged dragon stone in Westeros. The old language is asshai.
He could be The Last Hero himself...
JOJEN PASTE = BLOOD MAGIC
hot pie is azor ahai...
Dont forget his fight w blaCCFyre
Can the intro lady please read the whole series? I will pay
Cold hands is a bracken 😂😂😂
I think it would've seemed even better if it was less scripted
👍
WH !!!

Intro is butt cheeks change it

Intro is fire, you’re tripping lol.
