Fate took him down a different path. By time Ragnar found him, Ubba already wanted him dead. He would have never been accepted as a true Dane. He never was accepted as one other than by the Earl Ragnar. Second of all in season two Alfred tells Uhtred that if he doesn’t swear to him a second time, Ragnar will be put on trial and killed. So Uhtred swears to save ragnars life and Steappa was ordered to kill Uhtred if his ambitions grew. All in all, it isn’t Uhtreds purpose to be a Dane. He is the true lord of Bebbanburg and he could truly never become that if he kept his danish ties. He had to choose a side.
Freedom is something that Uthred has never had his entire life. As the 2nd born of Bebbenburgh, he was a slave to his father and his people. After being captured by the Danes he is a slave, yes he is raised like a son but he's still a slave and also treated as a servant. Then to avenge his father (Ragnar) he decides to join King Alfred as he thought it was the safest option to stay alive until he could get revenge but ended up being a slave for life. Then he accidentally kills another priest and was going to be sentenced to death but escaped and returned to Ragnar but he was still an oath-man to Aethelflaed. In season 3 Aethelflead needs his help and instead of demanding him to come as her oath-man, she lifts his servitude to let him make his own decisions. Something he has never been enabled to do his entire life. She gives him complete freedom. Uthred at his core is a man of honour who keeps his word. He never has the choice to stand by Ragnar. Ragnar acknowledges this in season 1 and accepts it. The only reason Ragnar gets angry with Uthred in the later season is that he thought that Uthred became Alfreds oath-man the 2nd time for wealth, not knowing he did it to save Ragnar's life.
@@unaestrella1876 because Saxons know the land and they know warfare Danes in history fought war THEIR way and ONLY their way and this led to them failing alot of the time the saxons adapted and learned from their enemies the danes included hence why Alfred the great was able to crush them in alot of battles.
@@janeaidi9556 um no in real life history Uhtred was did not even exist and also no Uhtred was not a traitor EVER. he was loyal to Ragnar and only Ragnar not the danes.
Is this king ragnar lothbrok the most famous man, worrier, king of the vikings father of Bjorn Ironside, ubbe and ivar the boneless or another character?
then Uhtred would have been truly betraying everything he stood for. Uhtred was never a Dane yes he was raised by then and views himself a Pagan but at his core he is a northern lord of England.
Did everyone see how Athelvold become evil in season 3,his words to Edward...,,baad Edward,,say how he now want to reclaim his right for crown..after Alfred death...and Cnut...ha...he know how to use Athelvold against Ragnar...
no - I understand Brida - Uhtred knew his brother was in a den of snakes with that "alliance", he told his brother this. and He STILL left his brother, for Aethelflaed. I know this is a historical work of fiction, but there is no oath stronger then the bond of family. Uhtred decided then and there, he was Saxon. Doesn't matter the Gods he worshipped, he chose the Saxons.
@@robertperrotto870 lol ragnar forced him to leave he said he would kill him if he didn’t it’s not utrheds fault at all brida has been an alaskan thunder cun the whole damn time I can’t stand her
They should have never killed young ranger would have made the show better but season 4 was very good I like how they focused on the characters development
1:25 = I absolutely hate Brida!!! When Ragnar was killed, I was shocked & sad. When Brida's time comes & trust me it will indeed come sooner than you think (😉), I'm going to celebrate🎊🍾 🎉
Brida has every right to hate, and kill Uhtred if she can - Uhtred chose the saxons and walked away knowing his brother was in an alliance with Vipers. He then failed to kill her when she was captured by the Welsh, and let her be enslaved, knowing the horrors of slavery, that his Brother saved him from. Uhtred betrayed them both when he went to aethelflaed.
I love this show.... but I don't understand why Utred son of Utred did not avenge his biological fathers life? .. . It was Ragnar that killed his biological father.
@Julie Harris- No. The point is that nobody personally ordered the killing of his father. It was his father's choice to fight in the battle against the Danes. He died honorably on that battlefield. Young Ragnar needed to avenge his father because Kjartan basically executed him with his cowardly sneak attack in the middle of the night.
Because he wasn’t a part of Dane culture then and also He was the son of a Saxon ealderman who saw him as nothing more than an heir to his lands, but Ragnar the fearless gave him a home and a life with family, that actually valued and loved him.
@@ygxlmao6589 As far as I know he isn't the same. Ragnar the fearless is fictional and I am guessing so is Ragnar the younger. Ubba, Halfdan and Ivar are in the books and were also called Lothbrok at some point, so I am guessing the Ragnar you are talking about was also in The Last Kingdom, he just isn't mentioned in the books or the tv show.

@@Jack-kx5rf very true
Traveling Outdoorsman Aethelflaed...always someone having to jump in and save her. I didn’t mind her at first but now she’s my least favorite LOL
Dane over saxon everytime
I agree. Danes have a better life, if they are clever enough. It always seems like the Saxons win every battle though haha.
@@unaestrella1876 because Saxons know the land and they know warfare
Danes in history fought war THEIR way and ONLY their way and this led to them failing alot of the time
the saxons adapted and learned from their enemies the danes included hence why Alfred the great was able to crush them in alot of battles.
@@michaelkean5969 the Saxons won these wars only becouse of the traitor ...uthred the barstard
@@janeaidi9556 um no in real life history Uhtred was did not even exist and also no Uhtred was not a traitor EVER. he was loyal to Ragnar and only Ragnar not the danes.
The best show I love it 😍😍😍
Ohhh - Uhtred, be still my beating 💖💖💖💖
I was not ready to see Eric, ragnar the younger to be out of the show, too soon for me 😓
Mijito RIKOOOOO
Is this king ragnar lothbrok the most famous man, worrier, king of the vikings father of Bjorn Ironside, ubbe and ivar the boneless or another character?
He isn't Ragnar Lothbrok
Ragnar- Make her a widow! 😂 my heart broke when he was killed
How did Haestan kno Aethelfed waz at the nunnery??
Imagine if Uhtred didn’t leave Dunham. And told his men to leave and save their families.
then Uhtred would have been truly betraying everything he stood for.
Uhtred was never a Dane yes he was raised by then and views himself a Pagan but at his core he is a northern lord of England.
Travis kills the look of ragnar
😂😂😂😂😂
Travis Fimmel =Ragnar Lothbrok, and then there's our Ragnar Ragnarson ❤️
🙏🏼
Just watched him die last night 😯
I hated that Ragnar died. He was a great character.
Did everyone see how Athelvold become evil in season 3,his words to Edward...,,baad Edward,,say how he now want to reclaim his right for crown..after Alfred death...and Cnut...ha...he know how to use Athelvold against Ragnar...
I really hate how Brida blamed Uhtred, like?? He was literally no-where near the camp
no - I understand Brida - Uhtred knew his brother was in a den of snakes with that "alliance", he told his brother this. and He STILL left his brother, for Aethelflaed. I know this is a historical work of fiction, but there is no oath stronger then the bond of family. Uhtred decided then and there, he was Saxon. Doesn't matter the Gods he worshipped, he chose the Saxons.
@@robertperrotto870 uthred betrayed Ragnar to Alfred many time's
@@robertperrotto870 lol ragnar forced him to leave he said he would kill him if he didn’t it’s not utrheds fault at all brida has been an alaskan thunder cun the whole damn time I can’t stand her
Poor Ragnar
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Alfred doughter broke two brothers duo
A *DIFFERENT* kind of pain hit me when Ragnar died. I hated the show after. Such a pure-hearted yummy man
HE DESERVED VALLHALLA. FUCKING HELL
Uhtred betrayed Ragnar big time turned his back on the Danes who spared and raised him.
I should really stop watching these clips im totally spoiling this series for myself lol.
1:54
Ragnar should play Thor and triple h as kartos
I am dane for life....
Lower the music. U ruined the realism of video
Music is distracting and takes away from the emotion
I love this show.... but I don't understand why Utred son of Utred did not avenge his biological fathers life? .. . It was Ragnar that killed his biological father.
Because uhtred felt his father didn’t like him
stockholm syndrome!
No it wasn't. Ragnar killed his brother. His father was killed by a random Danish soldier.
Ragnar died in snake pit by king aella
True, but The Last Kingdoms Ragnar isn't the Ragnar you are talking about.
@@Deviant. well the Ragnar they are showing acc it should be the same they just made different story line
@@Deviant. well Vikings is better and more real
@@ygxlmao6589 no it really isn't. Last Kingdom actually follows the real historial events for the most part.
