@@Mamadbazargan I mean I feel bad for her a lot. To be cursed and she couldn't give birth to a living baby for Uthred or the man she loved even after his death, Ragnar. Which made Ragnar go to other woman so he could have descendents. Then being a slave like Uthred was a slave. Not sure how long Brida was a slave though, it was about a year for Uthred. Uthred had to do a lot more manual labor but Brida was pregnant while being pissed on and not getting enough food and water, not sure how to baby survived honestly. But yes she did get really damn annoying after she was rescued as a slave.
I know some people hated Brida but I went through so many phases of loving / then hating her, because in her defence she got betrayed and let down by so many people on so many occasions, whereas she stayed entirely loyal and constant to her people and beliefs. I can understand why it made her so brutal and vicious by S5. I thought she was incredibly well written IMO.
Within a few minutes of Sigtryggr being introduced I knew he was gonna be awesome. And even at Winchester I knew he wouldn’t be killed. He’s gonna become almost as loved as Uhtred in TLK fandom
my new favorite character, he's the only logical mind in the show. He has reason for everything and sees other ways of living unlike the dane's closed mindedness. He has honor and is a man of his word.
I facepalmed when they decided to kill him... why? why tho? they transformed him from this mastermind viking full of tactics and wistom to... man forget it it's not worth it.
A calm leader. A trained and superb tactician, a thinker with long-term goals beyond war, no hot-headed ego. I’d say he was the best tactician. I was saddened to see him die. He was absolutely awesome.

I am a fan of both TLK and Vikings, and I think it's kinda fun that the actor who plays Sigtrygger almost looks and acts like an auburn-haired version of the actor who plays Ivar the Boneless. They even have similar accents, and then there's that Gene Simmons thing with the tongue...which I think is intentional mimicry.
It's because the stereotype of cunning guys are calm and calculating. They made them talk in a gentle and cool manner so it appears that they're always thinking and aware of what's already and will happen.
i’m assuming this is the child he had with the Rus woman, even though it’s not historically accurate. Still it makes a connection with my two favorite shows and makes me like the guy more
@@yarakl5887 Sigtryggr's real name was Sitric Cáech he was grandson of Ímar who is suppose to be ivar the boneless to historians and the Irish chronicles however the irish chronicles say his father was Gofraid of Lochlann and not Ragnar. So the real Sigtryggr probably never was related to Ivar the Boneless.
Is it just me or did Sigtryggr suffer a massive character assassination in season 5? Dude was always one step ahead of everyone else in season 4, he was cunning and pragmatic, never just reacting but taking the initiative to further his own aims. Then season 5 rolls around and he somehow loses all of his tactical acumen. He lets his city get taken over by Brida despite warning from his brother, and then somehow blames the Saxons for it and chugs the religious zeal kool aid (despite never being a zealot). He organises a pretty good ambush of Aethelhelm's camp but then bungles it up by letting his soldiers run amok rather, and when he tries to get them back in formation it's already too late as Edward attacks. I'm just so disappointed because it seems like he only messed up and died because the plot demanded it. Season 4 vs season 5 Sigtryggr may as well be two different people.
He definitely did. Even the actor was like “what happened to me? To Sigtryggr in the time gap between s4 and s5??” He presumed that the introduction/appearance of Sigtryggr’s younger brother was Sigtryggr’s downfall. The man knew his younger brother was dangerous or lost but the guilt of leaving the younger to die in their homeland blinded and brought out this new side of Sigtryggr T_T
I’m 2 years late on this topic but you said something that I was so vividly feeling all along during those episodes that I couldn’t help myself. I too felt that his early demise was too contrived to be left unspoken. For the hours following that cruel episode of killing off his character, I was in shock and disbelief, then rewatched it again a few times in a row as my way to grieve him. And I don’t know if it was my grief but I came to dislike Uhtred and the show runners for that callous decision knowing how much liked Sigtryggr was by many viewers. I was convinced they killed him off and not without dimming his light first for having so unquestionably stolen the show in those last 4 episodes of season 4. I came even to notice how the actor’s performance changed gradually as if he was aware of the need of dimming himself for the sake of the main character who was being outshined by his charisma, phenomenal presence and impactful performance. All his earlier portrayal instincts, micro-expressive depth and vocal ranges were seemingly toned/tuned down... Such a pity to waste the potential of such a compelling character and talented actor which could have otherwise made the entire season 5 even more exciting. But then again, that’s probably what made his fans miss him all the more and from that perspective the show runners did him a favor, nonetheless. Since they introduced him, I kept rewatching only the episodes he was in and somehow couldn’t care less about all the other characters and earlier episodes that made me love this series in the first place. That’s how impactful he was as far as I’m concerned. To this day I still crave his voice and presence on the screen and keep wishing for his character spin-off to be made someday soon. Long live Sigtryggr, the legend!
Most of the time, I tough TLK is better than the Viking series. But, this Sigtryggr is clearly inspired by the characters of Ragnar Lothbrok and Ivar the Boneless (his father). The speeches, the personality, his intentions, his regards.
He was the best actor in the whole series🙌 outstanding and an incredible carisma and a voice to die for🔥🔥 Cant wait to see more of this actor in the future, its not often one come adress such raw talent!
The best male character so far pretending to be bad but being kind, heroic, good, selfless, honorbale, a man of honor, respectful, sweet, the perfect man for stiorra and him and her make a hot powerful epic couple. Can not wait to see them in season 5
Well, Stiora got him killed. What a great couple... The man literally predicted his own death though. He did say he was stronger for not having a wife, especially a vindictive, violent, arrogant, hateful bitch like Stiora. He should have never let her whisper in his ears.
If what is based on the History books, this comes as no surprise about his cool, calm and collected ways. After all he's supposedly a descendant of Ragnar.
@@philip2772 hmm never really liked thyra, but didnt hate her either. After she got rescued i didnt saw the point of her relation a 60 year old priest with a 25 year old dane. Young ragnar died reallly bad and i didnt saw the point of killing him off, glad the cunt aethelwold is dead
What's going on with his stroke? Yeah sure, he was a great man, but no descendants? Five years with Stiorra as queen and not one pregnancy? Even Edward moved quicker than that and he just met that other chick. Missed a birthright side story as the Heir to the Dane High King after Edward kept playing "among Us" with that old man's scheming.
It’s refreshing to finally get an intelligent Dane. I was getting bored of the cnuts and Ragnars and ubbas and the rest and especially bridda I swear in season 4 there wasn’t a character I despised more lmao.
He proves that wisdom isn’t acquired by age but rather by experience learning and reflection. Other Vikings were arrogant and did not think strategically only tactically and paid the iron price for giving in to anger
is it me who think that Sigtryggr is so similar to vikings Ragnar ? they have some differences of course but there is similarity in how they think and lead and negotiate is too similar
Great Charakter, who should get his well deserved spin off! I cried so damn hard when uhtred had to kill him....I didn't even cry that bad at the final end!
Ok im reading the books..and...what the fuck is this?? I stopes watching thia last season because of the nonsense..it looks i made the right choice i guess
King of Dublin, a king in Northumbria too. He retook Dublin and Waterford from the native Irish, and allowed Viking power to last on the Isle for another 200 years. Sitric Silkebeard. Legand.
I hated this character. Killing messengers by the dozen. Maiming peasants and priests then claiming he is all about honour. Having massive plot armour one season and absolutely none in the next. Such a weird character.
Besides Uhtred he was the Most respectable Male character. He had a short run on the show but it was very impactful his death Probable hit me thae Hardest he went out like a Gangster. He had all the qualities of a Great Leader.
They were lucky, the Danes and Norse didn't pay them quite as much attention as England and didn't land there in such large numbers as they did in England. It's easier to defeat a band of Vikings than a great Heathen Army of Vikings
Sigtryggr did not deserve to die, he would have been able to take able was was rightfully he's; just like uhtred, sigtryggr could have had made a bigger name for himself, he could have even helped uhtred the most considering that they both had things stolen from them... he didn't deserve to die. He was and will always be a man of honor
What happened to two babies. Edwards other twin and Uhtreds baby who’s mother died in child birth. No mention of either in season four. Hope this will be cleared up in season five.
In the books, Uhtred's first born becomes a priest which he detests and disowns him, giving his second son the name Uhtred. Aethlstan is given to Uhtred to protect under the instructions of Lady Aethelfed, under his protection he learns to become a warrior. Aethelstans twin sister is sent to a coventry and anything more will spoil xD
It was Aethlhelms doing that caused the death of Sigtryggr and arguably Stiorra and brother. The scene where he dies gave me such heartache and i just wish Edward couldve pardoned him seeing as they all found out that it was Aethlhelm behind it all.
wow amazing, wonderful video 😍. I discovered the character with your video and I, who am a fan of Ivar, can say that he has a quality successor (from a French fan ❤️)
This show is too saxon biased. They portray Valhalla and Vikings in a complete false way. Vikings were explorers, traders, and innovators plus you didn’t have to hold your sword til death to go to Vahalla. They discovered America 500 years before Marco Polo did.
History is writing by the victors, although I agree with you foreigners are historically always seen as bad just as we see today with immigrants everywhere. Idk if you are into gaming but check out assassin’s creed Valhalla they take the opposite approach and depict Alfred and the saxons as the bad guys making it an interesting change. It would be good to see a neutral story about saxons and Vikings tho, one that leaves the audience to choose who they sympathizes with
Hue Janus i am into gaming and I have seen gameplay of AC Valhalla but I’ve only seen Alfred in the trailer. If you watch the tv show Vikings they don’t depict Alfred as a bad guy. According to a lot of Christian chronicles Vikings only intention was to rape and pillage villages, that’s not true at all. They settled in England because they wanted better lands for their families. Otherwise what would be the point of sailing all that way from Scandinavia?
Not really, there are a great range of characters all with different personalities and beliefs and motivations in TLK. It goes into the relationship between the English and the Danes alot more deeply than Vikings does and gives a much more balanced and fair portrayal of both sides. The Saxons were not all mewling wimps who couldn't fight and the Danes weren't all 7 foot hulking all conquering warriors who could cut swathes through all of their enemies with one hand whilst drinking ale with the other from a horn.
@@andrewesch4699 They did want better lands for their families yes, but to do that they had to displace the English people who lived there and they usually did that by killing them and burning down their farms so any survivors would starve. They repeatedly invaded and raised the coasts carrying English folk off as slaves, and they didn't stop it until the English defeated them once and for all at the battle of Stamford Bridge. I'm from England, I know alot about our history having grown up here and I'm also a historian in Germanic history and culture. Although the relationship between the Saxons and Danes was very complex and layered, they weren't always enemies and Danes would fight for the Saxons for varying reasons at times. They also intermarried quite alot, my surname is a reflection of this as it's an Anglo-Danish surname from the Danelaw, it means Jackdaw. So one of my ancestors was a Dane who married a Saxon or a Saxon who married a Dane. Either way. But yeah, it's better than Vikings which is very biased and slightly offensive in its portrayal of anyone who isn't a Viking

@@rahulcasam Wrong? He got killed because of Stiora. He predicted his own death beautifully.
and that is his downfall
I ain’t kno about y’all but he is a Fineeeeeee man
Sigtryggr and Stiorra are the most interesting characters in this show. It is a pity they had so little screen time.
His voice omg
I really really liked this character, he’s intelligent and rational and isn’t driven by hate for the christians, i also draw comparisons between him and ragnar from vikings as they both value knowledge very highly, that’s why he chose to protect uhtreds daughter and why he chose to take her with him after he got what he wanted
Anyone else gonna mentioned how he was the only one who ignored Brida ?! He wisely realized that she ain’t shit. And he didn’t see her as a leader
Jesus Christ. Finally. I saw a good comment. Brida is such an overrated character. I hated her. And i dont think they chose the right actoress too.
@@Mamadbazargan I’m surprise that it wasn’t noticed as well
@@Mamadbazargan I mean I feel bad for her a lot.
Brida was brutal and ruthless. I had no compassion for her even when her child died.
Came to this after his death. One of my favourite characters. So sad and underserved
I like how they gave Sigtryggr Ivar's iconic blue eyes, his brains & his strong will.
Great - grandpa Ivar would definitely be proud of him.
We don’t know what colour eyes Ivar had
Sigtryggr wow great addition to the show 👏👍, hope to see him in season 5 😊...kinda crushing on him 😍😉
Within a few minutes of Sigtryggr being introduced I knew he was gonna be awesome. And even at Winchester I knew he wouldn’t be killed. He’s gonna become almost as loved as Uhtred in TLK fandom
my new favorite character, he's the only logical mind in the show. He has reason for everything and sees other ways of living unlike the dane's closed mindedness. He has honor and is a man of his word.
i wish he had more screentime.. one of the best characters in the whole show
I facepalmed when they decided to kill him... why? why tho? they transformed him from this mastermind viking full of tactics and wistom to... man forget it it's not worth it.
Mate I 100% agree
The way he yelled shield wall during that battle will stick with me forever. That's what led me here.
He is the grandson of the great Ivar the Boneless and has his grandfather cunning nature..
So ubba was his great uncle?
@@huejanus6459 Yes..
Hue Janus ubba is his grand-uncle aka his grandfathers brother
He has mind of ivar but not cruelty like ivar.
@@hopelfreyamikaelson9348 yeah he looks like a way softer version of ivar
A calm leader. A trained and superb tactician, a thinker with long-term goals beyond war, no hot-headed ego. I’d say he was the best tactician. I was saddened to see him die. He was absolutely awesome.
When you hear hear he is the kin of ivar you know he is the real deal
This season introduced such good character with same good writing to them, I hope they keep this good writing in S5 as well
Eadith, sigtryggr and And Stiorra just made this season more interesting
OH MY!!!! The newest Dane, SIGTRYGGR took the character and is now one of the most interesting, delicious and smartest Actors on the show. I look forward to seeing him much, much more. I love his vocal range too. SO MUCH TALENT, should not be wasted. ty
I hope his character remains
Hopefully he helps uhtred take back bebunberg now that he is his son in law lol
@@huejanus6459 Stiorra and Sygtryggr aren’t married (yet) although in the books they are but hopefully in s5 they get officially married with Uhtred’s blessing
I hate the man Edward has become, if I were Uhtred I would've told him that he could have built England without the sword that has served the crown longer than his father's and his reign (Uhtred helped Alfred's brother when he was king)
Edwards sons were no better either
@@bonbonvegabon Edward had a great role model, Alfred. That failed though. Edwards sons are like they are because of the guidance they had.
Sigtryggr is a kin to Ivar the boneless
It's because the stereotype of cunning guys are calm and calculating. They made them talk in a gentle and cool manner so it appears that they're always thinking and aware of what's already and will happen.
The voice! So soft, so wise, but so much more! A beautiful & deadly man! Finan..? Love u both.🥀
Damn sexy ! Best actor in the series
Edward is the most foolish king I've ever seen. Boy does he rattle me.
"kin to Ivar the boneless"
no wonder I liked this guy
(different shows i know, but still)
i’m assuming this is the child he had with the Rus woman, even though it’s not historically accurate.
It was nice to see a Viking who rule and fought like Alfred
Sigtryggr, a revelation in season 4. He actually wants to settle in the new lands, not just raid, just like his great grandfather Ragnar Lothbrok.
Most of the time, I tough TLK is better than the Viking series. But, this Sigtryggr is clearly inspired by the characters of Ragnar Lothbrok and Ivar the Boneless (his father). The speeches, the personality, his intentions, his regards.
Ivar isn't his father but his kin. He is his great-grandfather exactly
@@denadra I thought his grandson
Rest in peace. He was my favourite character
I was so disappointed that it happened.),:
Me too
his voice is calm whicj i like about him
Compared to his Dane similars, Sigtryggr is fucking Alfred lol.
the best character on the show since alfred died
Of all the TLK deaths, Sigtryggr's was by leaps and bounds the most crushing. I absolutely hated his death, screamed at the screen. 💔
My new favourite villain. Can’t wait to see him on season 5.
His death actually got to me the most after Beoche
He was the best actor in the whole series🙌 outstanding and an incredible carisma and a voice to die for🔥🔥 Cant wait to see more of this actor in the future, its not often one come adress such raw talent!
I have fallen totally in love with Sigtryggr! Not as pretty as Uhtred, but 🔥
I was angry when I saw that the director didn't put Ivar the boneless in the series. At least, they put his son.
Who is his son?
@@motherhoodsbeauty9279 i think he got confused and thought siggtrigr was ivar's son

My favorite character of this season. I hope we will see him in the next season
Sigtryggr is literally me calm and smart, he’s my favorite more than uh

Is this what we do? Strike those that are weaker than ourselves? (Proceeds to bitch slap the hell out of him) Go on! I like this game!
One of my favorite and best videos on yt I've ever watched! Thank you for great tribute for Sigtryggr!
If what is based on the History books, this comes as no surprise about his cool, calm and collected ways. After all he's supposedly a descendant of Ragnar.
So excited for season 5... Hope to see Stiorra and Sigtryyggr more screen time! And no more deaths in new seasons please..
So many characters in this show that could have easily stayed and didn't need to die : (

@@topacybits3576 yep Ragnar didn't die in battle like he was meant to, he was killed because cnut convinced aetholwold that his life was in danger.
He reminds me of ragnar from vikings
What's going on with his stroke? Yeah sure, he was a great man, but no descendants? Five years with Stiorra as queen and not one pregnancy? Even Edward moved quicker than that and he just met that other chick. Missed a birthright side story as the Heir to the Dane High King after Edward kept playing "among Us" with that old man's scheming.
i remember when he first appeard i was questioning him, didn't like him at first but realized he was a good person
It’s refreshing to finally get an intelligent Dane. I was getting bored of the cnuts and Ragnars and ubbas and the rest and especially bridda I swear in season 4 there wasn’t a character I despised more lmao.
Why did he leave Dublin to go to Wallia in the show?
I loved his dual intensity on screen, so well played... I wish he didn't fall into Edwards hand, soo wicked.
I hated this character at first but he turned out pretty awesome and acting was great.
Most wise Dane
He proves that wisdom isn’t acquired by age but rather by experience learning and reflection. Other Vikings were arrogant and did not think strategically only tactically and paid the iron price for giving in to anger

Kin of Ivar the Boneless. Would have been epic to seen Uhtred face Ivar.
Great Charakter, who should get his well deserved spin off!
I cried so damn hard when uhtred had to kill him....I didn't even cry that bad at the final end!

Alfred is dead.
This season didn't let me down! Tbe Last Kingdom, best series ever!! ✊
King of Dublin, a king in Northumbria too.
He retook Dublin and Waterford from the native Irish, and allowed Viking power to last on the Isle for another 200 years.
Sitric Silkebeard. Legand.
Yes I will agree with you he is so nice snd special in his way. It will be fun to follow him in the future of tlk.
I hated this character. Killing messengers by the dozen. Maiming peasants and priests then claiming he is all about honour. Having massive plot armour one season and absolutely none in the next. Such a weird character.
The only competant Dane in the entire show
Sigtryggr and Ragnar Lothbrok from Vikings would've gotten along well.
Besides Uhtred he was the Most respectable Male character. He had a short run on the show but it was very impactful his death Probable hit me thae Hardest he went out like a Gangster. He had all the qualities of a Great Leader.
He was clearly very crafty and intelligent in season 4, they kinda dumbed him down in season 5.
who is here in 2023?
Damn Ireland sounds like bad asses in the show😂😂 everytime their mentioned it’s always about them defeating the Danes
They were lucky, the Danes and Norse didn't pay them quite as much attention as England and didn't land there in such large numbers as they did in England. It's easier to defeat a band of Vikings than a great Heathen Army of Vikings
He is my second fav character after Uthred
Excellent video 😁
Sigtryggr did not deserve to die, he would have been able to take able was was rightfully he's; just like uhtred, sigtryggr could have had made a bigger name for himself, he could have even helped uhtred the most considering that they both had things stolen from them... he didn't deserve to die. He was and will always be a man of honor
Awesome!!!!!!
@@BlatantlyJohn "Convent" not "coventry".
It was Aethlhelms doing that caused the death of Sigtryggr and arguably Stiorra and brother. The scene where he dies gave me such heartache and i just wish Edward couldve pardoned him seeing as they all found out that it was Aethlhelm behind it all.
Sigtryggr Good Man
Sigtryggr saw the bigger picture (just like Alfred). Unity, settlement, trade and peace. That's how a civilisation thrives.
wow amazing, wonderful video 😍.
Actually one of mý favorite characters!
In the books, Sigtryggr is a very good and honorable man. I'm now reading Warriors of the storm. All of the books have been really really good.
I have read (and reread) the entire series. Sword of Kings arrived on my doorstep on one Saturday morning and I read all 381 pages by the evening! War Lord I took slightly slower!
He is a better character than uhtred , he lived a warrior and died a king❤....I hated how uhtred was played by these kings like he was a hound , until the end I waited for uhtred to raise but noooo he wants to stay like a nobody till the end.. I came to hate his character and love sigtryggr ❤❤
Ivar taught him how to actually won war.
To those of us who have read the books, the shows depiction of sigtryggr is a disappointment.
He is supposed to be blonde and handsome, and a formidable warrior. His men called him ‘a god come to earth’ he almost beats Uhtred in a fight, in which he loses one eye.
And gloats that he is Odin, made me LOL when he said that
My favorite character in the series. Done dirty in the series.
