So I was rewatching the episode when Uhtred left Ragnar again to save aethelflaed. You can see the pain in Ragnar eyes for having to disown his brother he legit almost started crying. Ragnar was really a good man and a very reasonable one.
Ragnar deserved so much better.. Uthred May was born a Saxon but true family are those that love you and treat you like family and Ragnar did more than that! Uthred failed his real family
Ragnar always loved Uhtred and welcomed him back with open arms but as soon as Aethelflaed came calling, he runs to her aid when she’s practically given him nothing (as far as I know, I’m only season 3). But it’s so sad because Brida is totally right.
Uhtred had to much pride and was to fixated on his old life where he’d lost everything he couldn’t see the one he had in front of him where he was given all that he’d lost a new family who loved and cared for him
Imagine seeing your father and family killed in front of your eyes. I understand the ragnarsonns took him in as their own (after he fought to protect thyra as a child) but what he saw as a child will never leave him. Of course he would want to take back his home, what’s rightfully his. That’s not to much pride, that’s dedication to his bloodline.
@@Thedragonondrugs yes and he saw his family die twice before his eyes Ragnar was more a father to him than his own. His father from the looks of it had tolerance for Uhtred when he was known as Osbert possibly because from the sounds of it he was a bastard son of his father. He showed neither love nor care for Uhtred as a father should the father only had the slimmest sense of protectiveness over him simply because he was the last of his bloodline. Ragnar was altogether different when there’s the time jump you can see the care he has for Uhtred and giving him advice on love and making sure he knows he’s one of them whether he marries a Saxon born woman or Dane woman. He had two people brida and Ragnar ragnarson who treated him as family who loved and cared for him unconditionally even when he chose to stay and fight for the saxons and he still chose to side with Alfred in the hope he’d have his lands back. It wasn’t about avenging his fathers death or care he had for his old life as a Christian born Saxon he prefers to live as a Dane and his biological father was killed by the men of his adoptive father if he’d had any loyalty to his bloodline he would’ve found a way to escape the Danes to take revenge for his father. But the only people he was willing to avenge was the death of his adoptive family and his brother Ragnar Ragnarson. He wanted the land simply because his father told him it belonged to him and his pride knowing he’s a lord and bent on getting it back pushed him down a path that furthered him from the ones he loved. Honestly had he’d listened to Brida I’m sure he could’ve convinced Ragnar Ragnarson to help him avenge their father killing Kjartan and Sven and take back the land belonging to Ragnar. After which he could’ve asked for his brothers help and men to orchestrate a siege of bebbanburg cutting off their food supplies so that they eventually would have to surrender. Im sure Ragnar would’ve agreed since he helped him avenge their family, Uhtred could’ve take back his land and with Ragnar together they could’ve ruled the north both taking back what was stolen from them. Why he continued to trust Alfred I’ll never know I’m surprised he didn’t do what I said after Alfred screwed him when he had Uhtred marry a woman indebted by 2000 shillings. When he cut ties with that wife he should’ve left to find Ragnar.
Ragnar was always here for uhtred and waited for him for years but uhtred left him for that woman within days.... Leaving him vulnerable to those sharks... Brida is right... Uhtred didn't deserve Ragnar.
Apart from distinguishing between Saxons and Danes, Uthred just wanted to save an innocent women of enemy side from being killed or worse. I am with Uthred in this case.
I really hate that Ragnar was always there for his brother but Uhtred was never there for his brother! Uhtred would have dyed many times if it wasn’t for Ragnar!
Aethwlfled wouldn't even give uhtred soldiers to save his daughter. I found her super annoying and the way uhtred followed her around was stupid. I love Ragnar and it was messed up he was killed by a fool
Uthred was born a Saxon but he was raised by Danes and Ragnar loved him like a brother and after years was he being separated he walks out on him again he failed his true family
Ragnar is the big brother we all need
