I have seen so many negative comments about people buying the machine and then can't figure it out....well please check out all the video first!!! I did when I was keen on getting my Sentro, I was literally addicted to it...I watched so many tutorials and since I love crafting, I learned a lot and then got my machine...unless you are into crafting and knitting you need to be patient..Love this video btw..Thank you!
Very true. I am into crafting very much, but like anything, you have to be patient and learn tips and tricks of the craft. There is a lot to learn using the Sentro machine. It is so worth it though.
I have never knitted in my life nor have an interest in knitting. My daughter picked up an interest and I decided to encourage her by buying all the necessary equipment, including the sentro machine. Before she used the machine, I watched a UA-cam video on how to use the machine while at the same time having a go with the yarn. I couldn't believe it, I made a scarf 🧣. I was very proud of myself. The next day, I taught my daughter how to knit with the machine. Who could have thought I would enjoy knitting. I had to post a short video on my channel. 😊
I had a go with the yarns that came with the Sentro machine, my finishing off wasn't perfect but it came out really nice still following your instructions as a rough guide :)
How I do it when I cast on my yarn I go yes no yes no if you finish with no you've made a mistake, it is so easy to undo the stitch then start again, if you practice this you'll be fine. I've a 22 needle knitting machine I would love to have a 48 knitting machine. ❤
❤ great video - not very long, easy to follow step by step instructions!! I have been knotting my starting yarn after a few rows and then having to hand stitch around to cinch. Do you block before you close up the ends?
I have just purchased my unit and I love it so far. I am using it mostly just to do baby hats for the Nicu to use up some misc. yarn. Is your unit older? Mine had a black needle for the start and I don't have a counter? Just wondering if yours is newer or older. Thank you for the tutorial. It was very informative.
Mine is quite a few years old, but the model still exists. You likely purchased a different one than mine. For baby hats, you'll want to get one of the smaller machines with only 22 needles.
Great tutorial, thanks! Can you show us how to purl on this machine? If it's possible? I can't figure it out on this, although I can purl on my old flat machine.
You can technically purl, but it's a manual process of removing stitches and then using a crochet hook to make the purl stitch. If you're trying to do a rib stitch, it's easiest to knit all the rows normally that you want to end up as rib stitch. Then undo the column of stitches that you want to purl and use a crochet hook to make a purl stitch.
Thanks, glad you like it! I would not recommend using the 48 needle for a child's beanie as it will be too big. I recommend using a 40 needle machine. For a baby, I recommend using the 22 needle machine.
I tried this and when I changed colors, it dropped a stitch. Is it because when we changed colors, the yarn left under the white hook and the yarn we added under the next hook is not connected? How do I fix this? :'(
Can you clear up something for me. I am thinking about getting a Sentro knitting machine . But I hand knitted a hat last week and did everything by the pattern according to my head size and it had me cast on 100 stitches , so by the time I finished it would have been so big around it would have fitted a football helmet. So the Sentro casts on 48 stitches and all the hats I've seen by this machine look great. So I casted on 48 stitches on my number 6 circular needles using a 4 ply yarn and knitted about ten rows, the I cast off and put it around my head to see if it fit. It was horribly tight. What do you think about that? I am really confused how this happens.
Oof, I know how frustrating that can be! The difference is with the gauge of the machine and the tension being used. You did the correct thing by essentially making a swatch to test first. Since all yarn is different it's difficult to say whether the yarn you're using on the machine is too thick, but the first step could be loosening the tension while you knit.
It depends on the yarn you use, how tight your knit is, and how long of a brim you want. Therefore the best way to decide how many rows is to knit a few rows (e.g. 10 rows) and you can then measure how long those rows are and use that to determine how many extra rows you should knit of each color.
oh no, that's so frustrating! I have found going slowly helps to prevent dropped stitches. It can also be a tension issue - so I recommend doing the first few rows holding the yarn in your hand and manually adjusting the tension you give to the yarn. Once you know how much tension the yarn needs to not drop any stitches, then you can place the yarn in the tensioner with the same tension. Let me know if that fixes it!
It depends on the yarn you use, but likely around 200-250 of each color. In my case since I was using multiple strands, it was multiplied by the number of strands.
I really love your tuto, i'm gonna follow it 😍 I need your help 🥺 Any advice please ! I have a simple sentro without the counting tool, how should i count to avoid making mistakes ??? And another thing Plz, i have 100gr of yarn, is it enough to do this reversible beanie ?? Or i need more ?
Thank you! You can use a stitch marker just like in regular knitting/crocheting to mark the start and a handheld stitch counter you can click each time the marker passes. It depends on how many yards the yarn is, but it's possible it will be enough. You can always try it and then unravel it if it doesn't work out. That's the advantage of using the machine - it's super fast!

Thank you! The careful and detailed cast on steps is exactly what I needed!
I just started making reversible hats and I love it, they're so quick and easy to do.
Needed this! Most other tutorials are much longer. I needed one that was much more succinct. Thank you!
Glad you liked it! I'm the same way - I prefer succinct videos so that's what I like to share.
I agree. There was nothing drawn out and boring about this. Terrific video. Subbed

How do you make a hat for a small breed dog when the opening of the machine is so big ?
You would need to get a smaller machine
I love it!

It takes quite a goes to crack the process but worth persevering.

Mine gets dropped stitches no matter what I do😭😭😭 Ive tried multiple different yarn
