American 4x4 Trucks in Oz - Hummer vs Jeep - Nitto Challenge
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 жов 2017
- In this 4x4 video we have two iconic American trucks battle it out at Wheeny Creek aka Gees Arms South Trail. These two beasts of the 4x4 world go head to head choosing the most difficult lines and in some cases opening up new lines.
Both the Hummer H1 and Jeep Wrangler JK are both running Nitto tyres. The Hummer is sporting 40 inch Nitto Trail Grappler tires while the Jeep Wrangler is running 37 inch Nitto Mud Grapplers tyres.
The Hummer H1 is pretty much a standard 1996 model with some Alpha bits and pieces. the 40 inch tyres fit with no lift. Its still running the standard Torsen Diffs. It has a custom made front swing down bar with a Warn high mount winch.
The Jeep Wrangler JK 2 door is sitting on a 3 inch lift and is twin locked with ARB air lockers. The front has a Dana 44 diff and the rear is a Dana 60 high clearance unit.
Both trucks performed exceptionally well. We had a blast of a day and hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed the trip. Be sure to subscribe for more 4x4 videos and feel free to comment and share. Dont forget to give us a thumbs up if you liked the video. - Авто та транспорт
Hey guys check out our latest video where this Hummer takes on a well built JKU. ua-cam.com/video/oI6VOtcY8sA/v-deo.html
Its an interesting battle as the wheelbases of both trucks are more similar than this match up.
What brand of fender flares are on this Jeep?
Put same tires..... same weight load ratio... and same driver expertise behind the wheel, that would make it a fair competition... otherwise this becomes a dick measuring contest in which no one wins as both are tiny ;) thanks sharing!
@@budnixon interesting allegation
@@heavenleigh111 they are cut standard jk flares with some rubber extensions.
@LROR Thanks. They look real good like that. You should market them, or at least the rubber as a kit
The Jeep driver is very skilled and cool looking, the guy in the Hummer needs a cigar too like Arnie lol. Love the slower technical drives rather than the flat out cv snappers. Great footage, thanks.
I'm glad there's no background music. I love hearing that diesel engine in the Hummer sing!!!
Jerry Cannon it really does have a humm to it doesn't it
What about the knocking in the jeep motor!?
Turbo diesel, probably a v8 or v10.
Jon BERTOCCHI
V8 Chevy block
@@brumph7256 that's perfect
19 minutes of Jeep vs Hummer gold. Nicely done.
Two good drivers, not idiots like most i see on youtube as well as legit obsticles/mountains to climb. Best video by far to date.
Brian Oberlin Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to drop us a comment 👍 Glad you enjoyed the video.
It's all about the driver, you can have top of the line fully equipped vehicle but if the driver doesn't know how to use it, it's meant to fail.
Nicely stated from someone who grew up kn Telluride, Colorado and has been offroaging for 50 years.
Another Arm chair driver
Agreed. Finally a video on how to do it effectively without spinning tires.
I find slow technical driving so much cooler than rock bouncers.
Soon you will have to crawl slowly and here is a form of transport: ua-cam.com/video/36lTXSZxBSE/v-deo.html
It seems like you have in America, they are planning to produce a Bremach Taos car soon
Right I don't understand why people think that going fast with a XJ or something like that demonstrates capability it really doesn't.... The slower you can go the more capable of your vehicle is.
I find it boring.
@@frankcastle9691 definitely why there is both I suppose!
The jeep driver is very skillful. Also I didn't realize that hummers were great rock crawlers . It's a pure billy goat.
ad mobile4 They both performed great. It was an awesome day having them both out.
The hummer has the advantage it has a longer wheelbase its 8 ft wide and it has Gleason lockers front and rear them things are bullet proof
@@seanmares2406 also the H1 has a low center of gravity so tipping it over is very hard it's slides more than tips
@@seanmares2406 with stock 37 inch tires
@@seanmares2406 The Gleason Torsen, being a limited slip, is great for high speed traction on terrain like dunes and maintaining normal steering/handling characteristics.
In more technical terrain where wheels lose contact, it requires constant brake input to manage wheel spin, there's still always going to be some, and not as good as fully locking diffs on rock crawling.
The other problem H1s have is the independent suspension, like a Baja racer, it's best for high speed invasion across dunes, not as good as solid axles for this rock crawling terrain.
Long wheelbase is good and bad, stability going up a hill, but gets hung up easy
I cannot thank you enough for keeping the original audio. So many people feel that adding music "enhances" their videos. I love that sound of raw engine power. Thanks for the vid mate.
Great video with great drivers. I'm a Jeep guy but LOVE seeing H1s in action.
They are a great sight and very rare on Australian roads let alone off road.
wow...great video...the main reason these rigs are so great is because of the DRIVERS..BOTH THESE GUYS ARE FANTASTIC..THEY MAKE ALL THE DIFFERANCE....THEY OUGHT TO OPEN A DRIVING SCHOOL ..THEY WOULD BE BOOKED SOLID FOR A YEAR...GREAT JOB !!!!
jon b. Haha im in agreement, they are definitely top drivers.
Impressive vehicles and drivers! Looks like a fun spot to go wheelin'. The Jeep is setup perfectly
These guys can drive, I love it!! Great video as usual!
I like the back ground wind instead of music and motors 😆
Not bad for the Hummer driver not using brake throttle modulation. And anytime a Jeep is comparable to an H1, you know it’s the real deal.
Good job fellas!!!
David Finn Thanks for watching and taking the time to drop us a comment 👍 And your right this jeep is definitely the real deal.
That was excellent, I was twisting and turning in my chair, and yelling out loud like I was watching a heavyweight fight. They both drove their respective vehicles as they were supposed to be driven. True professionals, they both have brass knockers...lol! I now want a Hummer H3 Adventure for sure.
👌👍🍻
Another Great video. Superb Driving of two Great machines
Excellent driving. Amazed that big Hummer could climb with Jeep.
Very good vid. Shows the capability of both rigs not just a video bashing one or the other. Looks like a very fun place. The first shot where the jeep was coming down the off camber rocks i thought he was going over.
TrailMix Yes it was close but rather than slam the brakes hard and shift the weight of the vehicle he had the experience to power out. Thanks for dropping us a comment.
Both awesome vehicles! That Jeep is badass and I love how the Hummer can just drag itself over anything. Great vid!
helical/torsen diffs, torq-converter transmission and just the right amount of left-foot-braking make such a smooth ride
Proper gearing will give smooth ride
as an American 4x4 enthusiast as well as a Hummer fan and former owner of an 06 H2, I must tell you, while I do wish you all the best with you, your fam, and your truck........The fact you are driving from the passenger seat IS DRIVING ME FLIPPING INSANE!!!!!!!
It really shows the difference a wheel base makes to the most appropriate lines a driver could choose.
Blue Rock Spot on 👍 Thanks for watching
Wow, those tires hook up amazingly, perfect air pressure, plus high quality tires will definitely impress.
Still so impressed by the Hummer. A vehicle designed so much time ago and so good in every conditions... Sometimes i forget it but when i see that i remember what a beast it is !
Extremely capable they are 💪
Great video ! two greats playing chase down under. Noticed my fav green 110 lurking in the back. Thanks for posting.
Great video. I have gone off roading a few times in my Humvee with people out here in Virginia, USA. The trails out here are groomed for Jeeps. If you're lucky, the Humvee fits. But you only get to choose one line. The Jeeps get to choose left, right, or center.
It was nice seeing a video with a little more space, two good drivers, and no stupid music added. Thank you!
Austen Schwend Glad you liked it. We too have many trails that wont be suitable for such big rigs but have others that are.
At first I thought the jeep will come as a winner, but I was surprised that even the humvee can do the same and at some point without a hiccup, good drivers and spotters.
Wow what a great display of what both vehicles are capable of doing. I absolutely enjoyed watching this, so thank you for sharing. It was really cool to see the ease of the H1. Now I'm looking to buy another XJ.....👌
There’s no “car vs car” here. Only two great off-road drivers.
Both drivers have very good driving sense. They understand own cars very well. Good line good accelework. I like this movie
suncraft40 Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching and leaving us a comment 👍
After WATCHING the video, I have respect for the Humvee driver. He did a good job with what he had. Good driver.
Reminds me a lot of some of the trails here in Texas. Best part of video: "How do you stall an auto?" LOL Priceless.
Vas Def Haha we always have a laugh out on the trails. Glad you liked the video. Thank you for watching and taking the time to drop us a comment 👍
Was the Humvee on 40s
great video. the Jeep driver is really good. I also have to admit, that I was impressed by the hummer. So far I tought it was just a piece of... but it showed here that it can do a lot more than I expected.
Both are good drivers but the jeep pilot is fearless. Im glad the video has showed what a hummer in capable hands can do.
Loads of fun! great driving skills!
Steve Finch It sure was a lot of fun. Thanks for dropping us a comment 👍
Obviously they were expert drivers. The H1 was a beast.
Good raiwe
When I was serving we would say a Hummer would climb a tree if the bark stayed on
What an amazing video you guys sure know how to entertain, wicked display of 4x4 rock krawling and am amazed on how well both rigs performed.
1Massiso Glad you enjoyed watching and thank you for taking the time to drop us a comment
I think this is one of the best performing Wranglers I've ever seen. I really like those tires.
I think you've got that tire pressure really tuned at The Sweet spot also.
That's the real deal. Amazing job guys!
Great Cars & Great Drivers, Respect
Nice to see some good driving skills. Amazing vehicles too. Thanks!
You're welcome. Thanks for stopping by 👍
Both are incredible, drivers and trucks !!
Two very capable vehicles - great vid✊
Mat Black Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Both incredible rigs, and the drivers are even more impressive. My f150 probably couldn't do half of this and i built it pretty good.
Trucks are great but drivers have amazing skills!!! BRAVO👏👏👏
georges mally Thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Love everything about that Jeep !
Awesome video. I really enjoyed watching
RC Play Ground Glad you liked it my friend 👍
BOTH RIGS ARE GR8!!!!
first wheeling video on youtube with skilled crawlers 👌🏼
Thank you, i hope you can find more on our channel 😁
Wow that last hill was really amazing! Especially when the hummer went up it! Holy cow!
Spiez RayPatrick Its a huge step on a decent incline. Thanks for commenting 👍
Thank' for this amazing video
Great drivers! This stuff is so much more interesting than racing.
You surely don't know how a McLaren accelerating from 0 to 60mph in 2.9sec feels like
A very good video! Both drivers have a lot of skill and it really shows. This also makes for an awesome comparison between a really-really good off-road vehicle and a hummer h1. Meaning that while the Jeep kind of shows what are the limits for a normal purposely built off road truck, the H1 just straight up breaks said limits with no sweat at all.
Nicely built vehicles and smooth driving!
I have had the pleasure of being able to wheel with a H1, and its really an awesome machine! One thing I have learned over the years is a camera cant show you how harsh this terrain really is, and these vehicles make it look easy!
That Jeep with what sounds like lifter tick is driving me crazy!
You can tell that it wasn’t these fellas first rodeo. They both make it look effortless. You’d find me top down screaming for Oprah and Tom Cruise to come help me over any of these obstacles.
That hummer is a unique and awesome off-roader. Regular cab proportions just work for that vehicle.
Very impressive 😃 great vid fellas 😁
Hey jeep driver... great skills not easy on that terrain with short wheelbase, myself would like the h1 on that run , great video to you guys
OMG, tie goes to the runner. It's up to you who the runner was. They both crushed it, but the Hummer looked much more stock.
Best video on offroad climbing mountain
And that wrangler sooooooo cool its my dream car hahhah
Im glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for commenting.
Good video. I'm looking forward to getting a military Hummer in a couple years. It's just nice that they're ready to go, no mods needed. 👍
I've done the jeep thing and am totally over that. So many mods needed to make it keep up with a hummer that already costs WAY less.
Great video. No nonsense footage without blasting Nickleback or some crap ruining my web wheeling experience 👍🏼
Luke Davis Glad you enjoyed it man 👍
One of the best rock crawling videos I've seen. Both rigs are awesome and the drivers have great experience with their vehicles. Thank you for posting this cool session. _/O|||||||O\_
Ronald Quin Thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
The grip on the hummers tires are God like
google to weight of a hummer 1 haha
You guys make it look so easy! Cool!
Thanks mate
Both were very skilled drivers, but I will go for the jeep 🚙 Thanks for the great video! I have got to learned lot of things.
These guys can DRIVE!
Awesome video Sir
Danny Rc Thanks my friend 👍
Awesome vid guys, very entertaining
i haven't ever seen driver like the rangler guy he is perfect one Bravo 👏👏👏
mrrespect He is a top driver and fun guy thats for sure.
Haha thanks guys
The H1 is almost stock and it still makes it look easy.
Apparently the only not factory part are the 40s and from the looks of it they aren't new either.
They are new Nitto Trail Grapplers so not the most aggressive looking tyre yet performs really well.
A stock h1 does come pretty well equipped
The Hummer is a Beast. Love it.
Highly experienced delivers.👍👍
Loved it. Thank you.
You're welcome thank you for joining us.
This is by far my favorite JK. Just awesome to see this Wrangler do amazingly well. One day, I will get those mammoth tires and lockers to do this stuff.
They both Have their perks. Jeep doesn’t scrap as much but has to gas it a lot more and bump its way over a lot of stuff. The hummer seems to be a lot more easy throttle over everything.
Looks like some great wheeling areas!
Xterra Fy Definitely man
Amazing video
i want to smoke cigars and rock crawl... badass image bro.. awesome
netslave 🤣🤣🤣😎
Yes thanks mate come down to oz and catch up with us!
sweet, im in brissy anyways, just subbed ur channel aswell. hopefully gettin a jeep early next yr so il hit you up one weekend.
Awesome!! No words OIIIIIIIO
goddamn that hummer does it all so easily!! can't believe how capable it is offroad
The piston slap on the jeep haha probably still going good today
Great work mate! That hummer is a beast so stable on its 40’s
Nicholas Klapsogiannis Thanks man 👍 That JK doesn't do to badly even though its a bit tipsy at times 😉
LROR Land Rovers Off Road Its a jeep so they tip easy. If i ever flip my Jeep XJ im welding that thing back together if i have to. My grandfather would be proud.
awesome video!
The Cat Felix Thanks man 👍
awesome drivers, awesome machines
Awesome No words 👍
I have personally wheeled my Jeep with a group of Hummers and they are very capable vehicles (the old military ones like shown here). However, since they don’t have any flex in the drivetrain they spent a great deal of time on only three wheels. Also due to low ground clearance and long wheelbase, they became high-centered quite a bit.
The HMMWVS have 16” of ground clearance that’s more than most of the vehicles out vehicles out there
@@grantshepherd94 They're also the length of a football field so it's required
That isn't a military hummer. It's an H1.
Land Rover in the back is like “c'mon guys, let me play.”
That H1 did great!
Liked and subbed! Great content. I love that you didn’t have music!!!
Thank you and hope you continue to wnjoy our new content every Saturday.
again great video that hummer craws up anything! and the jeep driver had some balls on him!
540isilver Yep the hummer does well. We all love the jeep drivers attitude 💪💪
540isilver
keeping in mind....the jeep was modified for this....lockers, ect. And the Hummer is an all terrain truck, not only rock crawling, and looked pretty stock. Not to mention one long ass wheel base... I was very impressed with the hummer. I was however, alittle thrown off at the Hummers lack of articulation. I expected more for some reason
matt sez not sure why you'd expect any articulation out of independent suspension
ok....more wheel travil. as i said, i know its ALL terrain, not rock crawling only. I just expected the tires to have more down ward reach when the Hummer was off kilter. Still did awesome
awesome video. i like how you showed the 2dr jeep instead of the 4dr
Nate than Thanks for watching 👍
Nate than I think it would have been more comparable if they did the 4 door wrangler.
"what four door jeep?"
*sees soccer mom drive by in her jk*
I thought that simpson episode where the hummer goes over the brick fence was unrealistic after watching this I am almost certain it's possible 🤣
I must give credit to the drivers, and tyres are awesome.
Rafaqat Hussain Thank you sir and i agree both them nittos are amazing.
Both trucks are incredible, is it me or does the Jeep have some noisy lifters? Funny that both were creations of the US military even if they are improvements on the originals.
Flyanb yeh engine has a nice tick to it 😂
It's the beautiful 4.0 tick
Cesar Mercado pretty sure that's a JK not a TJ. so it is either a 3.8 or 3.6 V-6
Mike true that all 4.0 had square the headlamps
Cesar Mercado sorta the 4.0 inline 6 started life in the YJ which is the mid to late 80's to mid 90's "squared light" wrangler and it also last the whole life of the Tj series of wrangler from 96-06 which had round headlights like this jeep but the parking lights were rectangular and on the fenders. This jeep is a JK variant 07-17 the little round lights on the grill are the parking lights
Man the original hummers are such amazing vehicles as is.
You guys are dam good
Here's the honest part of this. Hummer is stock and jeep needed several thousand dollars worth of upgrades. Think about it.....
I thougjt that jeep was tipping for sure right at the beginning.
Steve EAB It was close.
Power out 🤙
I found myself reacting and I was just watching.
Thank you for no music. Both are great drivers! Hummer is a beast great video!
Your welcome and thank you for joining us. Yes the Hummer is a real weapon.
No doubt , both are very good drivers.
