Great driving and great knowing when to quit. Me..... I probably would have said screw that and went up on the left side instead of being in the rut but I wasn't there so my opinion doesn't matter. Great video.
I mean sure they are great for this, but for the average driver who wants them traveling across the Simpson or on the highway. If it's not a touring or daily driver they are good but it's single purpose.
I see why everyone had some sort of trouble with that first climb, the driver’s seat is on 5he wrong side of the vehicle! Great vid, nice assortment of vehicles.👍👍👍
Great channel just found it. I'll have to admit at first it's a little freaky watching them come up that hill and seeing what the driver side is here in the USA empty.
Not only 40 inch tyres Maxxis Trepador, high performance suspension, front and rear diff lock, automatic transmission, very low gear. I´m impressed with the skills of the red LC80, he knows the limits very well!! No fear at all
The patrol had much better spotters, and picked a better line than the rest right from the start. Everyone tried to go straight up, while the patrol took some nice sharp turns to get around the bump
absolutely awesome driving skills by red TLC80 driver! and kudoz for having good load front (passenger). helps a lot on a steep hill. possibly saved rollover... He should have hanged spare from roof rack onto front bullbar (easy to secure with winch), it would possibly helped to get above cliff... 40' maxis are the king of the hill though. awesome vid, what a pleasure to watch! thanks a lot!
I enjoyed the video! I agree with some comments, i would max at 15psi for a hill thats knocking back so many comers. Plus, i think a lot of the guys were afraid to succeed, they were a bit habituated to failure. They need to tackle it like they will succeed, without stopping, by pacing better, throttling on when they can, to climb each obstacle at the right speed.
I have had a patrol, landcruiser and a pajero and have done lots of offroading. Agree with another comment that the patrol should have gone last they are far better than toyota’s!
Everyone nearly had to much Air Pressure in the tires, except for the first vehicle who was running the best to grip or roll over the rocks vice make it loose the traction.

Nice drive from the patrol, up the Nissans. (40” tyres helped 😂) got a gq, building her up to be a rock crawling beast. What would you recommend with a gq, 37” or 40”. How much more do you think cops pull you over with 40”. What gears did that patrol have in the low range. Does he have crawler gears 70-80% reduction?
that must have a hill from hell if only 40inch tyers made it up... we done to all the drivers for giving it a go, would have been interesting to see that SWB JK with the 37s giving it a go.
Yeah, the JK couldn't join us that time, but surely 37s would've made it. And yes, it's a very steep hill, but the terrain change constantly. Sometimes you can climb it with 31s, other times you can't do it on 35s etc. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment mate.
it's all about the spotter in these situations. first one spotting for the patrol was best. I think he came back to guide the burgandy cruiser out of trouble. just my opinion .

Why didn't you guys use a winch? I see most cars are equipped with it. It would help so the track wouldn't wear off so quickly and other vehicles might pass it. Cheers!
You're 100% right that it's much worse in person, almost looking vertical. Yes, there's a reason, back in the 90s only a Unimog was able to conquer the trail without using a winch. There used to be a massive step.
@@AussieFourWheelers I've had (still have one) 2 unimog 404's, and when I get them stuck on hills I probably shouldn't be going up, I hate backing down. I laid my radiobox on it's side as I backed down a very steep hill in the dark, only to get off the trail which caused the cg to shift. Best not to back down without spotters!
Good video. But word of advice. If one of those rigs came down off there backwards not only would it be destroyed but the ones parked at the bottom are in danger as well plus human life.
