Did you not read ANYTHING anyone typed just now? You can't construct an argument based on nothing. The dude's one argument for the improving economy was "tariffs", even though not a single serious economist would corroborate it, was already rebutted, and no other arguments were made. It's not the other person's responsibility to make a counterargument against you if you can't form an argument in the first place, though it is funny that you're using the exact behaviors used by the fiscally conservative dude in the clip to try and assassinate character. A failure to make an argument leaves little room to counter.

I mean destiny started out the first 15 minutes of the conversation equating the guys total beliefs to that of radical conservatives, can you really blame the guy for not wanting to partake in a fruitful conversation with him?
A good example is when destiny said 50% of the population dont believe in climate change, and that simply isnt true.
A small minority of right leaning people actually believe that. Most conservatives thinks its a problem that we eventually need to solve, but they either
a) Dont think we have a good solution to solve it (an example would be they think all we can do is wait for renewable resource technology to get better)
b) They think there are other more important problems to solve, and the likelihood of us making it better with some stupid carbon tax isnt going to help.
This is a perfect example of destiny's cognitive dissonance coming into play. If he wants to play that game I could then assume that he is for socialism because the dems have socialists candidates (this isnt a good thing to assume, just using it as an example).
Every time I talk to my dad about Trump at family barbecues and holidays I literally ask him the same thing: Just name one policy of his that you've liked, he couldn't name anything and he kept trying to change the subject. That's the thing. If many republicans had any of the sense about them they'd be voting democrat. Any moderate republican or even "extreme" republican from 30 years ago belongs in the dem camp now. I know nobody that really "identifies" as a democrat. It's simply where they fall based on their beliefs. But Republican is almost a synonym for American in these guys minds. And complain when we call them out for voting in what inevitably ends up being insidious koch shills, racists, sexists, terrorists of the country and agents of misery.

Don't concede that the economy is doing well. Wages have been stagnant, cost-of-living (healthcare, education, rent, mortgages, food, gas) is through the roof. The stock market is high, but that only benefits a small amount of wealthy Americans.

Feudal lords generally made a fortune on selling grain during famines and plagues. Economy isn´t the stock exchange.

Senate Bill 219 states that it is unlawful to “willfully and repeatedly fail to use a resident’s preferred name or pronouns after being clearly informed of the preferred name or pronouns.” The crime is defined as a misdemeanor. It is a *senior rights* bill, designed to protect LGBT seniors from discrimination in places such as hospitals and retirement homes. Jesus. It's damn near impossible. I've tried to gently debate my family and friends who are conservatives and it's this brutal, man. The thought of ever talking to my beloved sweet aunt about Trump is so maddening I stopped eventually for my own sanity. Once, when I asked her why she liked Trump, she said "because he's not a politician." Ok, fair enough. But then, literally one minute after that I asked her what about AOC she hated. She said AOC "didn't belong in politics." When I asked her why, she no shit said, "because she's not a politician." I said, "but that's what you JUST SAID you LIKED about Trump!! How do you reconcile those two?" She had zero answer at all. I don't mean she gave a bad answer, mind you, but literally had no answer. Assuming you have a job where you're lucky enough to have 401k. The stock went up when companies did stock buy backs because of Trump's corporate tax cut. Which is exactly what everyone said they would do. They didn't share that wealth with their employees by raising their wages.

This is important for debate against real opponents. It's not giving up the point in a debate because you are able to take the current economic trend off the board by conceding it and showing its irrelevance (like Destiny did.)

Capitalism makes videogames (and all art to an extent) worse by perverting the creative visions of the creators with the profit motive. Under communism there would be no lootboxes, no day one dlc, and absolutely no fucking pay to win. The death of bullshit jobs ( strikemag.org/bullshit-jobs/ ) would mean people would have more time to follow their artistic passions, meaning we'd be seeing a lot more of those excellent indie passion projects that crop up. In addition there's no reason to think a society that democratically manages its resources (and that's what we're talking about here) wouldn't put at least as much funding towards the arts (including videogames) as we do now through market forces, as it's not like the desire for art would really change (actually, it might go up thanks to the aforementioned boost in free time), the main difference would be that the games wouldn't be designed with wringing as much cash from the audience as possible as the goal, and the people making them wouldn't be exploited and forced to work in brutal conditions (seriously, the game industry is *cruel* to its workers, look it up).
Also worth noting is that Tetris, one of the most popular games of all time, was made by a Soviet.

Debating these people is pointless. They're playing teams, and they're going to defend their team no matter what. They didn't arrive at their positions through facts, as evidenced by this guy being unable to bring forth a single thing to defend his positions. They will vote for and defend anybody, as long as that person is a republican. In addition to that, human beings in general are like non-newtonian fluids. The harder you push, the firmer they become. The more you yell at them, the more they will dig their heels in.
The best mentality you can have when debating these people is recognizing that you probably won't convince this specific person, but by calmly exposing them you might convince people who are watching to the sane, reasonable side.
You cannot reason someone out of a position they never reasoned themself into. That said, it's worthwhile for Destiny to have these discussions because of the audience. There may be people watching who could be swayed.
