You can like Max Payne 3, there's nothing bad in liking it. Take it from a fan who played every Max Payne game at release, multiple times, and years apart. Played Max Payne 3 on PS3 raising difficulty every year, and the only con is that I can't skip those damn cutscenes instantly.
Compare to other Rockstar entries, Max Payne 3 was NOTHING like a Rockstar game design. MP3 had the potential of intense storytelling and a possibility of a semi-open world, but none of that exists. On the bright side, the gameplay itself is satisfying and the "bullet time" system received incredible improvement, with every moment of the slow time events being memorable. My favorite chapter is the 3rd "Just Another Day At the Office". I can't wait to see Remedy's remakes of the first 2 games. Speaking of, I myself made a simple thing where In the Mansion mission (at the end) I have Vinnie with me fighting Vlad's men while Mona provide support. The map is on moddb. Fun fact: In MP3, you can fill up your bullet time bar by simply letting the enemies shoot. Every single shot they fire regardless if it hit or miss fills up your BT bar. This helped me beat the game in hardcore difficulty.
26:07 Love this Game.. and how the start menu is always different based on your real time progression throughout the campaign.. The campaign hits different because of it.. personally to me. 43:15 this song goes so hard .. Health is Awesome 👍
Great video! The quality of this video reminds me of Raycevick. I never thought you’d had 200 subs this whole time, like your editing and writing as well your microphone is all top notch! I’m excited to watch more of your videos game reviews
The reason him feeling different after getting shot in the football stadium is because well... he got shot by a Barrett rifle (which is not present in any of the previous games + the 50 BMG it shoots is pretty damn massive)
Max Payne 4: Payne and Pasos Victor Bronco faked his death and comes for max and pasos, having pasos go through a throwback experiance max endured as giovanna and his daughter are killed by victors goons, and when we comes to max for help, maxes new fiancé is brutally shot down on an attack on his home, prompting both men for a final fight against victor bronco and his hired army in South America. My idea for a max payne 4 🤷🏻♂️
I know not everybody likes Max Payne 3, but for me it's actually my favorite out of the whole series. It really does feel like a once in a lifetime game, to the point not even Rockstar could do it again if they tried. Sure, the story was awful, some game mechanics are rough or missing, and the level design could've been a bit more accommodating for shootdodge. But for me, this is the perfect third person shooter.
One of my fav aspects of Max Payne is that you feel the power of guns you use. In Mp2 i felt like shooting peas or ASG replica, the guns had so awful sounds it was ruining fun of using them. What happens to your opponents here give another level of fun, all those cracks in skullls, blood stains etc. feels awesome. Pity there are no grenades or molotovs, those were fun in previous games.
Gunna hard disagree on the quality of writing between dan and sam. Look at the difference in legacy between the two: alan wake, control, and quantum break; versus gta 4, rdr1+2. It’s not even close. You may have liked the tone of earlier max payne more but tone isn’t indicative of quality. If anything, lake relies of pastiche, cliché, and tends to overwrite, especially in max payne - where max blatantly narrates things that are happening clearly in front us, which is the cardinal writing sin in using narration: guy gets shot; max: “he was dead, colder than the asphalt that would soon engulf his memory like some callous concrete coffin.” Yeah, it’s a cheap imitation of Raymond Chandler, but I argue Lake seldom pulls it off.
This game is awesome

Max Payne 3 on PC with fps above 100 is a totally different game.
Max Payne 3 on PC is the best 3rd person shooter of all time. The combat, gunplay and physics are unmatched to this day.
Honestly yeah, the combat is still sooo satisfying even a decade after release. GTA V's combat is merely mediocre by comparison.

I can't actually agree that the story was awful, it was pretty good, even though I didn't feel much at the end.
