As someone who liked the whole season (and read all of the books a decade ago) - the first few episodes definitely felt slow for me, but thankfully they released the first 3 episodes at once so I didn't have to wait for 3 weeks to get past that part (honestly, episodes 1 and 2 are my least favorite of this season) BTW. regarding the Selene line - she's the innkeeper, so he's saying he can't pay the rent for his room And about Siuan - it's a Covid issue - the actress had scheduling conflicts which reduced the amount of episodes she could be in this season
Yeah, I'm in a similar situation. I still remember the books well enough to appreciate all the foreshadowing, but they're not so fresh in my mind that I'll get hung up on the changes.
"Let's go, Shirtless!" is my favorite and 8 wholeheartedly agree. That's Arnas Fedaravicius and I wanted so much more of him in this. He was amazing as Sihtrik in The Last Kingdom. One of my very favorite characters in one of my favorite shows (you should totally watch it).
The Last Kingdom's unreal. I didn't like Vikings but TLK is perfect. I didn't recognise Masema as Sihtrik until that fight scene, his style and long reach just screamed TLK. Plus it's quite accurate historically - Bamburgh/Bebbanburg is older than the Tower of London where the WoT premiere was held, which itself is about 950yrs old.
On the scene in The Dragon Reborn you cited, when Rand repositioned the bodies to kneel, he was shocked to discover a thirteenth man with nondescript features (Grey Man) so yes, they were hunting g Rand or his Ta'Vareness was working in his favor.
She knows someone has freed lanfear and there are probably signs of a forsaken being freed (ishamael). She also knows that like evil had carried on in the world in the past 5/6 months so the dark one is not dead
32:00 "I'm just waiting for our characters to do stuff" sums up half the word count of The Wheel of Time. :) As for knowing Ishy was free - well, she wasn't dreaming when he took her power away, and I doubt she thinks the Dark One himself did it. That kind of just leaves the Forsaken.
Took me a couple of episodes to realise why they were doing what they were doing with Moiraine and Lan. (vague spoilers but spoilers) - - - There's no early plot to explain the importance of stilling in the way that would be useful to a viewing audience, until it is one in *the* event much later on.
Rand totally did all of that to get in to see Logain. Job working there first. Find out where Logain is. Beat the shit out of the dickwad who is working with him, get that job. He has agency here, so nerdy's take that no one does falls flat for me. Moiraine saying she'll force Alanna to take his bond is a harsher way of putting it, but she essentially said she already did pass it on to Myrelle at this point in the books.
As someone who has not watched the show (but really enjoy your reactions), the Moiraine threatening Liandrin with her son part might just be because a lot of the Reds have a less than great opinion of men so might not be happy with the idea of one of them having a child, just a thought.
It's also possible moiraine didn't know he was her son and was just threatening to reveal a secret which liandrin is clearly trying to keep hidden (while bluffing a little and making some assumptions)
@@purpleajah7425 I assume someone told Moiraine that Liandrin goes to some sick man she is hiding, and Moiraine thought she is protecting a channeler and decided to use that information to shut her up. She is hesitating for a moment as if she wasn't sure back then whether to use this information.
Thanks for the reaction as always! I feel like the season gets so much better from here and finally gets back to a place by the end to get back on track with the books. They just needed to do a ton of rewrites due to the COVID situation continuing on from S1. I realize that the added Moraine and Lan stuff was probably added so that Rosamund Pike actually had something to do this season, but I agree that is just falls flat.
I won't spoil things for you guys, but season 2 is designed to be rewatched. You'll pick up a lot more on a second watch that would answer so many of the questions you two are having right now about how Moiraine knows these things, her bond with Lan, what Rand is doing, what is Selene doing, etc...
Yes! This. The first time I was watching there were so many things I didn't understand , and I had the same questions and was confused about the same things they are. Well at least about some of them. But after the end of the season, when I came back and watched again it made perfect sense.
One thing I'm quickly learning from this show (and also the audiobooks and other stuff) is that whoever wrote the pronunciation guide for the Swedish book translations was clearly just making wild guesses...
Рік тому+3
Agreed! The translation of Wheel of Time to "The Saga of the return of the Dragon" is.... An interesting take.... 🤣
It hurts my soul to watch book fans watch the show because I really love the show and haven't read the books and it just feels like book fans just shred every little thing. My only complaint about the show is that I wish there were way more episodes so that we could really bond with the characters but I guess money.... yeah.
Not all the book fans dislike the show. I know, I'm one of them. It took a few episodes and a few show only reactions before I started coming around, but this season sold me fully on their ability to execute on a Wheel of Time show, and the changes they've made aren't as irksome to me as they were at first. I can appreciate not fully knowing everything that is going to happen, or how they're going to do stuff.
Books are my first love. The show was hit and miss the 1st season. 2nd season was great, and I see why they made some of the decisions they made in both seasons. I hope they get to fully realize the story they're telling on screen. But you should read the books if you like the show. They're just so good. Been rereading them for nearly 30 years
Book fan here. Loving the show too. Re-reading The Great Hunt at present and picking up stuff they put in the show from the books that I didn’t even remember.
Amazing reaction! Havent got to the end yet but it seems like yall were really appreciating the writing, acting and production quality in this episode. Elayne is perfect. Liandrin is dommy mommy. Selenefear is built up great in this episode and it only gets better and better!
Not a book reader but I understand they’re giving liandrin a bigger role in the show I think they may have realized they had a really good actress in that role and are giving her more to do because my understanding is that there is a fair amount different from the books to the show
My headcannon, because it has to be to not ick me out, is that since Selene is getting what she wants she has *not* been using Compulsion on Rand. She clearly did in the books.
Elayne steals it all season long, she rocks. I get your criticism of many of most of the characters not feeling like they have their own goals they are pursuing, but I think some of that is a criticism of the source material. I remember feeling pretty similarly about the early books until Rand takes the sword from the stone (though its been a while so I could be misremembering).
If you [JUMP CUT] think reading this [JUMP CUT] comment is [JUMP CUT] annoying, then [JUMP CUT] just try [JUMP CUT] watching a [JUMP CUT] action scene in this [JUMP CUT] show.

Trust the story as they tell it to you.🙏 This season is a RIDE!!!!! I've been in heaven for the 2nd season, I'm back to theorizing again! Wooooooo! 🎉
At the end of this season the only question u will ask about all the characters on the show will be, what was their character arc, what did they do or learn, n what will they do. Then u will ask what was the reason for all those senes n plots the show focused n wander is the little screen time the show has to adapt the 15 Books of content was used wisely. Don’t get me wrong u can sit down n enjoy what u see n the moment n u can call that entertainment, but u can’t call that a storytelling when all the developing the characters n storyline on the entire season can be cut to 2-2.5 episodes n watchers would had learn the same at the end. All the extra stuff doesn’t enhance anything on the show no world building ur important knowledge for the future ur has any impact on the characters. At the end it hurts the show since it adds things that the viewer doesn’t understand what is going on n in many occasions it contradicts previous information already explained making the viewers even more confused. This should had been a 6 movie adaptation each from 2.5-3 hours long instead of a show if they were going to add so much filler on each episode that has zero relevance. A 3 h movie with that same budget would had used every seance wisely n audience would had been more understanding of the Writers having to cut alot from the books n string line it for the movie adaptation that makes it feel like it own thing.
You guys catch how Verin knew that the dragon reborn was a male? She said, "he will proclaim himself on top of Tomain's Head". Kinda of made season one whole "Who is the dragon reborn kinda of a waste of time"

I really want they change Alanna plot as well, they could merge her with Myrelle or Bera/Kiruna, because the actress is doing very well and is likeable, pls don’t do that Alanna I’m begging you…
Nerdy's critique of the show's plot issues is accurate, and very reminiscent of Brandon Sanderson's take. The Rule of Cool trumps plot points making sense in-show (and forcing the audience to make stuff up ontheir own). I'm just confused with the ranking that goes with that critique...
Play the episodes on a loop after finishing all eight episodes and repeat so that Amazon gets high completion rates for its metrics and then will green light season 4.
@@houseofaction That is interesting because I have been told that they count how many times an ID address/ prime member completes watching all the 8 episodes.
