I was just shopping for Shea Butter and was so curious about the refined vs virgin (unrefined). And, here you are! Thanks for the info - I so appreciate your mission to provide the best!
I am about to buy raw unrefined shea butter but I was reading alot about it and I just wanted someone to tell me the scent and thank you for just saying it straight forward 👏🏾. Now I can continue with my purchase
Thanks for the info! Unfortunately, I bought my shea butter from the beauty supply store and then…trying something new, heated it up in hot water without opening the container…thus…and because I was masked up to handle the lye, didn’t realize the unpleasant smell until too late…
If you smell Hexane you have purchase cheaply refined product. The loss of "healing properties" ie Vit E, A, Fatty Acids, Allantoin will be minimal (from 20%) if processed properly. If you dont buy cheap butter and you wont get the smell, not all processes use hexane. Personally I don't like the smell of unrefined or the thought of a product with mystery impurities.
I had no idea the butter was "cheaply refined" until AFTER I started doing my research and never purchased it again. To each their own. I don't mind the natural smell of shea butter and prefer to have maximum healing properties, so I'll deal with the "mystery impurities".

@@doriskeith4605 I appreciate you!
Wow, it's crazy that I happened to watch your video and when I first opened my shea butter from Amazon, I smelled gasoline SMH. I ordered 5 lbs!
Oh no! I hope you're sending it back!
😂😂😂
Okay thanks interesting ☺️ just bought refined shea butter what now
Interesting
Is this shea grainy?
I've received grainy shea before when it melts during shipping in the summer. When that happens I melt it down then use it.
