This new method also supports weight painting, allowing you to give more UV density to important areas of your mesh. Check the "importance weight" checkbox in the unwrapping parameters window.
I've been using Blender for 5 years after using Maya for 8. Blender keeps getting better and better each year. There are still a few things I miss from Maya (mostly the graph editor and animation tools), but there's not much to complain about when one is free and one costs thousands a year. It still blows my mind.
That just means you can 🏴☠ the latter while still have proof you used a free software. Nothing to lose. The biggest winners of Autodesk are the board members and the investors.
Blender have been remaking their animation tools from scratch for over 3 years now. Checkout their project baklava. Its gonna be miles ahed of Maya, saying that because they are working with the animators and rigging TDs who've worked in major animated movies and hollywood blockbusters.
@@cd2028 Yeah the addon is like 5$! I don t know if the thing will be merged into blender at all! Imagine all the people that already paid! It should be up to the guy who made the addon! So if he said no, then it is no!
This gets even better because this also features another mechanic: you can use weightpainting to make the unwrapper pay additional attention to an area so you can improve the ears even further.
I'm glad the uv gubbins is finally being added, I hope they work on uv maps of mirror modified objects too to give both sides unique texturing without having to halve the scale of what was made and sticking it to one side. Also the thing I'm now most happy about is learning about that first person fly mode i had no idea that was a thing but now I'm gonna be using it all the time. And for people who dont know how to enable it its SHIFT+` with ` being the little dot fukker beneath the escape key
They already have that. That's been in the modifier for years. Just open the Data dropdown in the mirror modifier and tick on either or both Mirror U and V. You can also offset the mirrored UV's using the sliders. Tip for seeing what the mirrored UV's look like without having to apply the modifier: go to the texture paint tab. The image editor in paint mode on the left shows the full UV's while the UV editor won't.
Man, I feel old, I really can't see the text of the GUI in Blender! Is it just me (probably I need glasses?) or something wrong about the DPI in this video?
Does anybody know if this new algorithm is more targeted towards people who can’t unwrap correctly or if the algorithm will benefit even more from correct seem placement. I really hope it’s the latter as it’ll probably solve a lot of those issues where you have a nice unwrap but find yourself still having to layer on seems due more complex angles in a mesh or many of the other annoying niches u sometimes run into using conformal.
Depends on what you focus on. If just pure modeling then its not different much, but Asset Browser that came with 3.0 is very handy if you reuse own assets a lot. For animating, you'd want at least version 4.2 with new bone collection system that is more robust and easier to work with than old layers. For grease pencil usage, wait for the 4.3 with geometry nodes support, new eraser, brush assets and performance improvements.
Those blender dev make the 3D model easy. There are features I have not see is cool how those people work hard to make it easy tool better. I would call it multi tool switch knife for jack for all trade style.
3ds MAX user here. Looks like Blender actually tries to develop some professional qualities every now and then. I would have bet that they would have built in the ability to do spreadsheets and web design instead. 😁
3dmax as well, but switching to blender, its crazy that the paid tool autodesk there is never anything new, yet blender is full speed with new features lol.

Wow! Freaking awesome! Thanks for pointing it out :)

Hopefully the new animation system will be good
Couldn’t get used to blender animation tools went back to Maya and working with both isn’t too bad
@@LOC-Nessany idea when they are planning on updating that?

I can't believe we still don't have little pictures in our nodes showing previews of textures. Like unreal engine.
Would be nice.
There is an addon for that!
@SuperSertyuio yeah but like 3 years ago blender said it was gonna merge it into official releases. Isn't the addon paid too? I can't remember

It was planned for 4.1 (was in Developer Extras menu in beta) but not heard about it ever since.
Wow, this Is nice; the Blender goes slowly like it said, finely the fixed little uv, and keep going!

Thanks for this Detailed Demo!!! 👍😎
commenting to give you more algo traction! These little feature showcases are awesome!
could it be? will this finally dethrone Wings3D’s unwrapping experience?
1:01 Mike also has EVILish Tone 💀💀💀
That is really cool.
Anything that improves UV stuff is welcome. I hate that workflow sooo much...
This seems like a very cool feature.

i wonder when are they going to add a way view fliiped normal faces in the UV..😅😅

i am on blender 2.9 lts, i am a bit confused on how to move on to newer versions, is it worth it to go to these latest versions?
New features are good, but Blender 4+ has performance issues.
Yeah it’s 100% worth it
