Bob, this really is so magical. Rob did study opera in college, but he hasn't really sung any of it for over 15 years....Austin studied musical theater in college, and when Austin approached Rob about this project, Rob was a bit hesitant but with several practice sessions they gave it a go. Please react more of their Home Free songs....they've been on such a tear the last year...it's been one great one after another
Yes, as well as Austin being employed on the tour ship as a Player in the theatrical musical shows .... where the Home Free ensemble then was wowed by him, later offered him a shot with Home Free - which obviously he excelled in. I feel for the lower Baritone-Tenor register Rob is anchoring the Aria in HE IS CREDITED with sounding more "OPERATIC" - well yes for experience you mentioned as well as his natural register being lower than Austin's ... which is still stellar in performance - remembering this is a visual Lip Sync production as MOST ARE .... and therefore replicated looks, mouth placement etc - enjoyed your comments, GBjj
Rob study opera in college but hasn't sung it in 15 years and Austin has his musical theater background and as I have read has some college classes. Both gents were nervous about how well this would go over with their fans. I love you reaction, as I have traveled from reactor to reactor the face is always the same, surprise, enjoyment and amazement and some cases shock. And I believe that fans want more.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I've done the same... I get such validation watching their wonder of it all. Don't forget to check out Austin's solo on his channel of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables.
Austin studied classical singing from adolescence and went to college on full scholarship to one of the most prestigious schools for voice. A little different from "some college classes."
I grew up listening to opera (had two opera singers in the family) and arguing with my dad over who was better-Placido Domingo (his preference) or Luciano Pavarotti (mine). I’d actually rather hear Rob sing like this than even Pavarotti, who was technically one of the best ever. It’s just Rob’s tone-it’s like warm honey. And I love Austin’s bright, sweet sound as well. Rob has operatic training and it is obvious in his awesome voice. Austin has the voice of an angel. Together they are sheer magic. I have listened to this song probably 30 or so times in the past couple of days. I just found it and I can't stop listening. I think they put as much feeling into this as any professional opera singer I have ever heard perform it. I'm not sure how they would work this into their concerts with Home Free but I would bet the farm that concert goers from now on will DEMAND that Nessun Dorma be performed.
Well I was just at their concert last night Maryann and they did not do it. The concert was fantastic!!! One of thr best I’ve seen and Tim Foust is a pretty funny guy. The whole group was amazing and it was an unforgettable night. Wow!!!

It was neat to hear you say Rob sounded like Pavarotti... Lyle (aka Patrol Nation) called Rob "PavaROBi" 😂 (Incidentally, you remind me of someone I knew in college Cornhusker Marching Band, I played trumpet 🎺 😎) Looking forward to your next Home Free reaction ❣
Great Reaction! I have never been a fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.
This is insane. It is so extremely good. Fantastic. Both are doing great. But Rob, I'm perplexed!!! His voice is just magical, so rich, so warm and powerful. Chills just ran through my body. It flows into my heart. For me he will be able to stand with the greatest of opera singers. It's not often that I listen to songs by opera singers 5 times and more in a row. But here it is. Of course I hope that both will always continue to do Home Free, but I wouldn't think it wrong that such "trips" are made more often. Opera, country, ballads, soul etc. I think anything is possible. Even if you don't like opera, you have to like it.
Personally, I KNOW they performed "right up there" (on that level)... but not perfectly! And how can we (or any one) expect perfection. : ) When opera singers/performers (and the like) tear apart the little things ---- It's accolades to these 2 for sure!!!! We get a lil bit out of Austin on some of his solo stuff ... but Rob - always knew he is a beast ... and now TOTALLY VERIFIED!!!! After hearing that --- think he was just getting warmed up, huh!?! I loved that song by them. I always knew that Rob had a real good voice (as they all do) but man he really has got some wonderful classical pipes, fabulous. Thank you boys. ❤
The other thing is that Nessun Dorma is a solo, not a duet! What I read is that Austin wanted Rob to sing this, and Rob said he would only do it if Austin did it with him. The other thing about singing in a different language is emoting it properly in the song so that the emoting is in sync with the meaning of the lyrics! Love your reactions!
Yep you are right Richard this is a solo but with both singing it I called it a duet. It should be called a solo since there is a solo part sung by more than one. But you are right the original is a solo. Thanks.
Rob was actually trained in Opera in college. But he has not done it in quite a long time. Austin was a musical theater major. I could only say omg, over and over again. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction and analysis of this song.
I have been a lover of Pavarotti since the late '70's and truly believe he is the most technically correct and renowned opera singer (also love Lanza and Bocelli.) Luciano emotes especially well in the clip from the movie "Yes, Georgio" in which he sings this aria from "Turandot"/Puccini. I can honestly say that I've always been partial to Rob's voice, but the warmth he projects in this aria is even more moving and inviting than Pavarotti's (never thought I'd say that!), while still maintaining the appropriate operatic style. Austin has an amazing voice, range and beautiful style of his own which is and of itself quite an accomplishment! I hope those who are not fond of opera will broaden their horizons to give this song a listen and a thumbs-up (listed under Austin Brown's channel) because they were nervous to step outside of their comfort zone and fan base to record and upload this. Peter Barber did do a great technical breakdown/reaction to this. Bravo sirs Lundquist and Brown, and a BIG thanks to you, Bob for a wonderful reaction!! p.s. PLEASE do react to Home Free's cover of Crosby, Stills and Nash - "Helplessly Hoping." It's hauntingly beautiful and yes, once again they manage to perform an upgrade of an amazing song (harmonies!!)
I’ll add that to the list Carolinasbeauty. All fantastic points and I applaud them to taking this chance and to me it paid off. They sounded amazing and people are listening to opera. I hope they do another one.
Yeah I thought I was going to be rickrolled and then this happened. I had heard Rob studied opera in college but that was years ago. Austin studied musical theater. I knew they could sing but not like this. They can really project their voices. It was stunning. Loved it. Great reaction Bob!🥰
I have watched people's reactions to this so many times. I love it! I don't know anything about opera. But this has running through my head since I first them. Sure they might not be "perfect" to the professional opera singer but I think they were amazing. And honestly, they have made me check out other opera performances. So that alone is special.
You are so right Alana. This was not perfect but for these two guys to do this well in opera is outstanding. Also if it helped non opera people to listen to an aria from an opera then they achieved what they set out to do. I loved it and I applaud them for steeping out like this.
When you watch the live videos of Home Free (taken by audience members), the band members trade looks and/or use hand gestures to cue each other. There's a video of Home Free and Texas Hill singing "Dreamer" where you clearly see Austin & Rob do so and another with Home Free, Jeffrey East & the Oak Ridge Boys singing "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" where they're also doing this.
There's a video of a duet with Tim Foust and Austin Brown "What's It To You" where that eye contact isn't just between them, but also between the guitar and mandolin players (Jeffrey East & Chris Chatham, respectively).
Lots of us out here 'stalking' reactors to see the shocked looks on your faces. You didn't disappoint. Hope y'all don't mind us having what has been two weeks worth of fun...so far. I think this mix of classical opera (Rob) and classical-crossover (Austin)(as Maggie R describes it) is great. Thanks again.
Thanks John for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. They blew my mind with how good they did in this song. It’s not an easy one either but they hit a home run in my mind.
Yes, this is Amazing. I am not really suprised because they are such talented singers. But, in the truth I did not know that Rob had so much operatic training in college. I knew it has been mentioned that Austin had been approached by his teachers to try opera. They did an outstanding job !!!!
I’ve been watching for your reaction to this, and you did not disappoint me. It’s truly something to behold when these two decide to do go outside the box. Thank you, Bob!
Enjoyed your reaction, Bob. A number of reactors (unsure how much credence to give the word 'try') anticipated some typical Home Free comedy or that it would be lipsync'd. Rob and Austin really wow'd us! Applaud them both for doing something different (thanks to Austin for encouraging Rob) and hopefully taking the overwhelmingly positive response to do even more. This venture also potentially introduces more fans to their work, individually and collectively, as Home Free. Recall, in one of your previous HF reactions, saying you'd be seeing a Home Free show this month(?). If so, you'll certainly see Rob and Austin in a new light after viewing this performance.
I am going to the show next week and I am so excited to see them. I hope Rob and Austin do this song live. I would love to hear it. I feel like we are so lucky to have people like these guys showing us it’s ok to step out and try something new.
@@bobcieslinski unfortunately they have said that they will not be doing opera at live shows, but they never stated that they will not try another video. We can hope.
I agree. So many times people focus on Austin's voice, but Rob's voice is just so soothing. And here singing opera, damn. It was so deep and rich, like melted chocolate. Not to throw any shade at Austin, but this was Rob's song all the way.
Nothing the members of Home Free does even surprises me any more. We are so blessed to be witness to the talent and skill of these guys. I don't think there's anything they can't do musically if they put their minds and talents to it. Thanks for a great reaction.
Enjoyed your reaction to this lovely performance by Rob and Austin. Wish that it was possible to click like many times. Glad to have found your channel and subscribed . With your music background you might consider listening to Peter Barber's reaction to this video. Be aware that the reaction is about 45 minutes long but well worth it. I know you are relatively new to reviewing HF but there is another video featuring Rob that does not seem to be covered very much. A fan recorded it quite awhile ago at a holiday concert in Minnesota. It is a very different rendition of Joy To The World (Jeremiah was a bullfrog version). Also, to hear HF spur of the moment they had a concert cancelled (maybe in Iowa?) because of a thunderstorm. They joined a group of their fans in a picnic shelter and sang How Great Thou Art. This shows that HF does not have to necessarily use electronic devices. Be well.
The storm 'How Great Thou Art' off mic was in Kearney, MO. Many people in different places under the 'tent' recorded it. Patrol Nation had it on a few weeks ago. I saw and then saw there more recordings. You can tell whose voice 'projected' (Austin's word) the most. It was HOW Rob sounded that shocked me. I found Maggie R's explanations a bit fairer than Peter's just because she was more accepting of the crossover style that Austin used.
What did I tell you Bob? At first I thought it was going to be a funny take, but then again knew that they wouldn't disrespect the Opera world by doing that. Rob actually studied and sang opera in college but hasn't done it in 15 years. Austin with his theatrical background I knew he would come through. I was floored when I first heard it and knew you would enjoy it.
@@bobcieslinski absolutely! These guys never cease to amaze us. Every time you think you've heard them at their best they blow us away with something else. Great reaction. Take care.
That's what I thought as well.... Austin is good and I honestly believe that opera is not the best vehicle for his voice. Rob, on the other hand, is made for opera...yes he was trained and trained well. The fact is if you shut your eyes, you can tell it's Austin's voice. What you can't tell is that it's Rob's voice. So if you listen to this video blindly without knowing who it is, you would clearly come to the same conclusion. Still, stunning and I can't get enough of it. Brings chills every single time.
You know, Grace, I have never mentioned this before, but I wasn't at all surprised that Rob could do this; not only did he major in music in college, but being from Minnesota, he and Adam are not trained country singers and only adapted to that style when Home Free changed to a country a Cappella band for the Sing-Off. I think his real achievement for years has been his convincing country style...but like you, I still was blown-away at just how professional and different his operatic voice is 😃
@@bobcieslinski absolutely. I take nothing from Austin. He has incredible talent as do all the members of Home Free. That is why they do so well. They aren't stuck in any genre...not really.
They are amazing, aren't they? And to think -- this is the same Austin who sings Justin Beiber's 'Baby', and the same Rob who sings Rebecca Black's 'Friday' in their 'Guilty Pleasures' set-piece in their concerts!
The concert last night was one of the best I’ve seen. They just entertained for about an hour and a half. Awesome singing and some great jokes and such a connection with the audience.
Rob apparently is classically trained Whereas Austin is not but he is trained in the classical crossover sort of style Rob really sounds amazing in this
really hard to reconcile Rob of Broken Roads with this Rob. Austin never disappoints. Excellent job by these country boys. Great reaction thanks for sharing.
One Italian voice teacher/reactor said she forgot they weren't Italian. Yrs ago Rob's voice coach said he could have a big career in Opera. Thank the heavens he joined Home Free!!!
They were not the only ones who could sing both styles. Judy Canova could also sing country western as well as opera styles which she did in her movies of the 30's and 40's.
I noted in your Man Of Constant Sorrow you wanted tight harmonies. Look at Crosby, Stills and Nash cover they did of Helplessly Hoping. No beat boxer just 5 man harmony.
Did they or did they not have the passion for that last phrase. I saw a reactor who was comparing numerous opera singers singing that last phrase. I hope that guy will see this. Loved your reaction 🙂 You probably know they both have music degrees and Rob studied opera, but hasn't for about 15 years. Austin's training is musical theatre and you really should react to his solo of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. It's awesome. The four guys (sans Adam) performed this at one of their concerts also, I think I personally enjoyed their concert performance better, but definitely worth watching.
Seen one reactionest that was comparing them to the great Pavarotti. Him with decades of practice and performances. Against Rob and Austin Rob trained in opera in college and hadn't sang opera for over 15 years. And Austin trained in theatrical performance and had sang opera in more of a theater movie style not quite as bold as Robs. They sang two different operatic styles and combned them to make this wonderfully powerful performance.
Yep I did the same thing. This was amazing. Of course their is a difference but for guys who don’t do this everyday it was completely awesome and impressive.
In addition to rob been trained in opera while he was in college he had not sung it for 15 years. Austin was trained in musical theater but his college teachers tried to get him to sing Opera. Austin had to push rob into doing this. They were afraid of how they're fans would react. The response by the fans has been overwhelmingly popular. This is the link to an extremely in depth reaction and analysis of this pc by a professional opera singer music producer and bass.singer himself ua-cam.com/video/qBWtR0bQDKE/v-deo.html
One of the best versions I have heard is Adam Lambert singing this live at a Queen concert, these guys are great but for me Adam gave me goose bumps, I am not even a huge Adam fan.
Rob has trained as a classical opera singer in college. His teacher wanted him to become an opera singer as he is so talented. It is not his favorite. Austin is trained and has a degree in theater arts. Austin also is very talented. They both are very talented and are a pleasure to listen to. In Home Free they are great.
@@bobcieslinski The greatest tenor ever. Listen to Nessun Dorma and O Helga Natt (Oh Holy Night). Pavarotti was once asked if he was as good as Björling. - I'm only human.
You do know that this is a video and that they are not singing this live while doing the video? The recording is done in a studio, and they are lip-syncing here.
These guys are awesome. There a metal singer who is classically trained who does an amazing job on this song. His name is Dan Vasc. He also does sone Nightwish covers. I think you will like him. He does a huge variety of covers
I don't say this to be rude, but I sometimes think of the shape of opera singer's mouths remind me of a nutcracker. Just because of the vertical opening to create the depth and warmth of sound. I've actually noticed that mouth placement in Rob before in some of his other performances in Home Free. And we all had a taste of what Austin could do with his release of Bring Him Home. Great reaction! I'm glad to see reactors loving this since the guys were a bit nervous about it. You can be certain that many people have checked out other opera performances due to the exposure that Rob and Austin have given us. ❤
Right now I can only get about 2 videos a week working full time teaching plus teaching lessons in the evening. I’d love for this to turn into a full time thing and then I can make more videos. It would tak fan support for sure. Thanks!

Our two country singers outdid themselves. Rob,s voice especially is so rich and warm.

What they did is mind-boggling.
For sure. Just watched it again last night. I saw them in concert last Wednesday. Wow what a concert.
Yeah I thought I was going to be rickrolled and then this happened. I had heard Rob studied opera in college but that was years ago. Austin studied musical theater. I knew they could sing but not like this. They can really project their voices. It was stunning. Loved it. Great reaction Bob!🥰
Thanks Baby Fry! I was awesome so glad it was legit.
Just magnificent!
It really was Ann!
This was so amazing. And brave of them to go so far afield right out there in front of the world. They are so talented.
It does take a brave person to do that. I’m so glad they did and I think everyone else is glad too.
Beautiful, honest reaction! ❤
Oh yeah, knocked that one out of the park. Raises the hairs every time I hear it.
Me too
Yes, this is Amazing. I am not really suprised because they are such talented singers. But, in the truth I did not know that Rob had so much operatic training in college. I knew it has been mentioned that Austin had been approached by his teachers to try opera. They did an outstanding job !!!!
They sure did Terri! I hope they do more of this style.
I’ve been watching for your reaction to this, and you did not disappoint me. It’s truly something to behold when these two decide to do go outside the box. Thank you, Bob!
Thanks Cynthia! This was completely awesome. I hope they do more.
watch Austin watch Rob to come in, totally live!! unlimited talents!!!
Nessun Dorma and the Butts Remix .... 🤔
Now that's versatility.
Omg, this is my favorite Opera. It was absolutely Beautiful. Thank you, for playing this video. They knocked this out of the ball park!!!
They sure did knock this one out of thr park. Blew my mind how good they were.m at opera.
@@bobcieslinski Have fun at the show and make sure to report back!
@@bobcieslinski unfortunately they have said that they will not be doing opera at live shows, but they never stated that they will not try another video. We can hope.
I think this is Austin's way of highlighting Rob's talent.
I think you are right.
I agree. So many times people focus on Austin's voice, but Rob's voice is just so soothing. And here singing opera, damn. It was so deep and rich, like melted chocolate. Not to throw any shade at Austin, but this was Rob's song all the way.
You are right AMAZING
Nothing the members of Home Free does even surprises me any more. We are so blessed to be witness to the talent and skill of these guys. I don't think there's anything they can't do musically if they put their minds and talents to it. Thanks for a great reaction.
Thanks Linda and you are so right.
At this point, I don’t have clue as to what they can’t sing-and do it well!
So true Carol.
Oh WOW....absolutly amazing !!!
Rob has been trained in opera but it was 15 years ago. Austin is trained in theater. They were beautiful.
This was awesome!
jaw droppingly brilliant ❤️🏴
They did well! Thank you ^_^
Enjoyed your reaction to this lovely performance by Rob
and Austin. Wish that it was possible to click like many
times. Glad to have found your channel and subscribed . With your music background you might
consider listening to Peter Barber's reaction to this video. Be aware that the reaction is about 45 minutes
long but well worth it. I know you are relatively new to reviewing HF but there is another video featuring Rob
that does not seem to be covered very much. A fan
recorded it quite awhile ago at a holiday concert in
Minnesota. It is a very different rendition of Joy To
The World (Jeremiah was a bullfrog version). Also,
to hear HF spur of the moment they had a concert
cancelled (maybe in Iowa?) because of a thunderstorm.
They joined a group of their fans in a picnic shelter and
sang How Great Thou Art. This shows that HF does not
have to necessarily use electronic devices. Be well.
Thanks for the kind words and for subbing Susan! Also thanks for thr suggestion and story too. I appreciate it.
@@johntucker4296 Maggie Renée wants to sing with Rob and Austin some time too.
I loved it Ande! Oh my gosh this was incredible. I hope they do more of these. I would listen to all of them.
@@bobcieslinski absolutely! These guys never cease to amaze us. Every time you think you've heard them at their best they blow us away with something else. Great reaction. Take care.
@@1aleckman1 thanks you too!
I think his real achievement for years has been his convincing country style...but like you, I still was blown-away at just how professional and different his operatic voice is 😃
@@laurah3152 said perfectly!! ☺
They were amazing Grace and yes you could tell Rob had thr opera training but both guys were excellent. I loved this one.
@@bobcieslinski absolutely. I take nothing from Austin. He has incredible talent as do all the members of Home Free. That is why they do so well. They aren't stuck in any genre...not really.
I think they should sing am opera song at least once every 2 or 3 months. This was so very beautiful.
If you want something different can I recommend Tom MacDonald "I wish". Great reaction, enjoyed this video. Blessings
Awesome 👏 bravissimo ❤
Rob apparently is classically trained Whereas Austin is not but he is trained in the classical crossover sort of style Rob really sounds amazing in this
He really showed his opera chops in this one.
Beautiful
Loved it!❤❤
really hard to reconcile Rob of Broken Roads with this Rob. Austin never disappoints. Excellent job by these country boys. Great reaction thanks for sharing.
Thanks Linda!
Fantastic 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️
For sure Elizabeth!
One Italian voice teacher/reactor said she forgot they weren't Italian. Yrs ago Rob's voice coach said he could have a big career in Opera. Thank the heavens he joined Home Free!!!
I totally agree Penny!
Rob is operatically trained and Austin is classic trained
Did they or did they not have the passion for that last phrase. I saw a reactor who was comparing numerous opera singers singing that last phrase. I hope that guy will see this. Loved your reaction 🙂 You probably know they both have music degrees and Rob studied opera, but hasn't for about 15 years. Austin's training is musical theatre and you really should react to his solo of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. It's awesome. The four guys (sans Adam) performed this at one of their concerts also, I think I personally enjoyed their concert performance better, but definitely worth watching.
I can’t wait for the concert next week Delores. I hope they do this one. Thanks!
They did great for county boys. I was imprest.
This is the link to an extremely in depth reaction and analysis of this pc by a professional opera singer music producer and bass.singer himself

Thanks I already watched Peter’s video.
Magnifique
Wait for it……wait for it……yep that’s the face.
One of the best versions I have heard is Adam Lambert singing this live at a Queen concert, these guys are great but for me Adam gave me goose bumps, I am not even a huge Adam fan.
Wow I’ll have to look that up. I can’t picture him singing somethibg like that. He’s a great singer so it had to be good.
@@bobcieslinski apparently he trained as an opera singer, who knew?
Rob has trained as a classical opera singer in college. His teacher wanted him to become an opera singer as he is so talented. It is not his favorite. Austin is trained and has a degree in theater arts. Austin also is very talented. They both are very talented and are a pleasure to listen to. In Home Free they are great.
This was fantastic! I loved it.
So no problem that Austin just did an F# landing in a G major chord, right? Yeah, didn't think so either.
We all know (including Luciano Pavarotti) that the only version for this song is sung by Jussi Björling.
I’ll have to look him up. I am not familiar with him.
Was he the Swede in the 1940's that Recky talked about? The guy that Pavarotti said was the only interpretation/arrangement he would perform?
@@johntucker4296 Yes.
@@bobcieslinski The greatest tenor ever. Listen to Nessun Dorma and O Helga Natt (Oh Holy Night). Pavarotti was once asked if he was as good as Björling. - I'm only human.
When I heard this, I thought of how I felt the first time that I heard Freddy Mercury singing "Barcelona ".
You do know that this is a video and that they are not singing this live while doing the video? The recording is done in a studio, and they are lip-syncing here.
Yes Rogue.
👏👏👏👍
These guys are awesome. There a metal singer who is classically trained who does an amazing job on this song. His name is Dan Vasc. He also does sone Nightwish covers.
I think you will like him. He does a huge variety of covers
Thanks Tricia!
No beh, meglio che cantino qualcosa d'altro, povero Puccini...
I think that is a good analogy. I hope these guys do more of these pieces.
gig you know they both stugied oprah when they were in university
Rob studied opera...
I had no idea until I did this video Marable. He was sooo good. Austin was pretty awesome too.
Why haven't you reacted to Shirvans song Woman Life Freedom?!
Right now I can only get about 2 videos a week working full time teaching plus teaching lessons in the evening. I’d love for this to turn into a full time thing and then I can make more videos. It would tak fan support for sure. Thanks!
@@bobcieslinski My friend I thank you for responding to my comment. I understand what you are saying. Who knows perhaps reacting to this song it'll help you reach your goal. Good luck any way :)
They are good, huh?
Yep
