Jeff brought up a point that I have also noticed constantly when people bring up the question of "What about free will?", which is "Where are you getting this concept of 'free will' in the first place?" Many simply assume that such a thing even exists and then when Scripture directly contradicts that belief, they go on a crusade to try and subjugate God's Word to fit their sensibilities. But sadly many dig in their heels and double down, even going so far as making God into the big cosmic cleanup maid or simply the biggest fortune teller or even worse, stripping from Him His omniscience and sovereignty. A perfect example of having our natural ideas/intuitions corrected by Scripture has to do with something that at one point or another practically EVERYONE genuinely believes in: the concepts of luck and chance. Many people have lived and died truly believing that luck/chance are real things and live according to that belief, that sometimes you just have good luck and sometimes bad luck. But when you read: “The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision is from the Lord.” Proverbs 16:33 you must face the reality that your intuition has been wrong and you should discard a closely held belief and instead believe what God's Word says so clearly. Such is the case with "free will", which Luther and others recognized is not only foreign to Scripture, but in direct opposition to it. At around 43:30 when he mentions Ephesians 1:11, I'm so glad he brought this up because this is a HUGE stumbling block for traditionalists who adhere to traditions rather than scripture such as this Stoic philosophy of free will. In Ephesians 1:11, we see that God “works all things according to the counsel of His will.” This “all things,” according to verse 10 includes all things in the heavens and all things on the earth. And according to Colossians 1:16, this “all things” both in the heavens and on earth includes all things “visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities,” so it isn't just physical things, but also actions, circumstances, and even the thoughts and wills of men (Cf. Psalm 105:25). The word translated into English as “work” is the transitive verb “ἐνεργέω," which, as a transitive verb, it has a direct object (“all things”) and it means “to effect” that direct object. Since all “effects” must have a sufficient cause, this passage quite literally makes God the ultimate cause of all things in heaven and on earth. The same transitive verb construction is seen in Ephesians 1:19, 1 Corinthians 12:6, 11, Galatians 3:5, Philippians 2:13; see Thayer’s, pg. 215.
@lawrencestanley8989 you’ve been called out before on twisting this passage so it says something it doesn’t. And yet here you are again doing it. There's no such Biblical thing as the sovereignty of God as the Calvinist's teach. Calvinist's must believe that God contradicts Himself. Calvinist's must believe that God is an unjust sinful dictator who is the author of every bad and evil thing. God, in His sovereignty, has put His will in His word, the problem with calvinist's, is they don't know the Bible, either that or they don't believe it.
@alanhales6369 amen exactly. Sovereignty does not equal exhaustive divine determinism. Never has and never will. God is not sovereign in Calvinism because He’s not free to do what He wants. Calvinists confine God to a tiny little man made box and tell Him who He can or can’t save. God’s revealed to us in His Word that He’s pleaded to save anyone who believes. The free and genuine gift of salvation is to whosoever and not just a select group of elitists.
Doesn't God having control over everything, every detail mean we have no free will. And he's likes some of us and condemns some of us because of his will?
God is indeed in control of all facets of life. However, your second statement could use some clarification. In His sovereignty He has decided to show mercy to some undeserving sinners and has decided to not show mercy to other undeserving sinners. The reprobate are not condemned because God didn't give them mercy; they are condemned because they have sinned and hate God.
You are making it sound like God is coercing/forcing people into sinning, which is not at all the case. You seem to imply that people don't want to sin and God comes along and makes them do evil and then punishes for doing so. Is it not true (if you are brutally honest with yourself) that every time you have committed sin, it is because deep down you wanted to? People make these kinds of choices all the time, but in the unregenerate state their decisions will always be sinful and wicked because that is their nature. They are more than happen to be enslaved to their sin. It is only when God steps in and gives a new heart that the desires change from wanting sin to wanting righteousness and holiness.
@@douglasmcnay644 if he has written the story from the beginning how is that not what he's doing. For there to be true free will he would have to not no the outcome of the story. It's like saying a character in a book has free will

What translation yall reckon he's reading from, ESV perhaps? He seems to like the ESV based on conversations I've heard him have.
Yes all Calvinists do.
The ESV twists words and phrases in order to support Calvinism.
@@apilkey “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.”
John 6:44 KJV
What translation would tickle your fancy?
@@thomasberar4311Thank you for proving my above point.
John 6:44 doesn’t say some people aren’t drawn but that’s what it would need to say if Calvinism were true.
Please show me 1 passage of scripture that states not all men are drawn?
...because I can provide a passage that clearly and explicitly states all men are drawn:
JOHN 12:32
32 32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw ALL men unto me.
I’ll wait for a passage of scripture that explicitly states not all men are drawn or only some people are drawn.
If you can’t provide one then that means your religion is not based on scripture but is man-centred.
@@apilkeyJohn 12:32 Greek to English And I, If I am lifted up from the earth, all will draw to myself. That’s talking about Jesus sheep or merely everyone in the entire world ? You wouldn’t call yourself a universalist would you ? Meaning you think everyone in the world will go to heaven ? That’s heresy. Is Jesus merely talking about the whole entire world ? Or is he speaking about his sheep which he called, justified, and redeemed. I would reckon he’s speaking about his sheep because that call is EFFECTUAL not merely him trying to save and it not happening. What you are saying my friend with all due respect is that God has failed to effectively call his sheep which isn’t the case he has effectively called and justified his sheep who he died for. John 10:11 Greek to English I am the Shepard Good. The Shepard good, the life of him lays down for the sheep
@@apilkeyshow me where Christ says he lays his down life for the whole entire world cause I don’t see it I think John forgot to add that part
I like when you say you don't understand certain things.. but , I don't want to darken council by words without knowledge, ,answer me this? so God so loved the chosen, that he gave his only begotten son, ,that the chosen that believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life .,,or God is not willing that (any) ,,I mean that the chosen shall not perish, ,but come to repentance, or go preach the gospel to the chosen because we don't know who they are ,,or,, Adam and Satan was predestine to sin,,,, or God's sovereignty means he has to orchestrate in order to know everything. was Satan's will free?? was adam 's will free?? I believe that God's allowance, and his wisdom of his omniscient ,and his sovereignty are truths that worked together, you know,, like three in one, one in three. if this is not the case, God let (choose) some to perish, . yes,, who am I ,oh man to question the potter, as in romans 9:20-21 I truly don't understand. please explain ,If you can. yours truly ,two sides{truths) of the same coin. GOD Bless.
@richardcarthorn6408 Calvinism is unbiblical flee this doctrine and don’t listen to a word these men preach.
They are fools professing themselves to be wise and leading thousands astray.
God died for all of humanity without exception and the genuine offer of salvation is to whosoever.
God is no respecter of persons.
Calvin's words: “The first man fell because the Lord deemed it meet that he should.” Book 3, Chapter 23, s. 8
"I admit that in this miserable condition wherein men are now bound, all of Adam's children have fallen by God's will." Book 3, Ch 23, s. 4
"Again I ask: whence does it happen that Adam's fall irremediably involved so many peoples, together with their infant offspring, in eternal death unless because it so pleased God? ... The decree is dreadful indeed, I confess. Yet no one can deny that God foreknew what end man was to have before he created him, and consequently foreknew because he so ordained by his decree." Book 3, Ch 23, s. 7
BIBLE SAYS: "The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord regretted that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him to His heart."
Gen. 6:5, 6
QUESTION for Calvies. if God predestined Adam to sin because it was His will for this event to happen, WHY was He shocked when He saw how corrupted mankind became? WHY did He regret creating man if God knew this would be the outcome of Adam's sin? atheists have asked this question to many Christians. WHAT SAYEST THOU?
There's no such Biblical thing as the sovereignty of God as the Calvinist's teach. Calvinist's must believe that God contradicts Himself.
Calvinist's must believe that God is an unjust sinful dictator who is the author of every bad and evil thing.
God, in His sovereignty, has put His will in His word, the problem with calvinist's, is they don't know the Bible, either that or they don't believe it.
@alanhales6369 amen exactly.
@@douglasmcnay644 yea but they sinned and hated God because it was his will. They had no choice
@@tree777tree3I see you didn’t view the video.
@@douglasmcnay644 if he has written the story from the beginning how is that not what he's doing. For there to be true free will he would have to not no the outcome of the story. It's like saying a character in a book has free will
