did He call and chose Judas Iscariot? "And when it was day, He CALLED His disciples to Himself; and from them He CHOSE twelve whom He also named apostles: 14 Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew; 15 Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called the Zealot; 16 Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot who also became a traitor." Luke 6:13-16
Ha. Just looking at the truth in your heart felt reality. I can only resonate for I am in the same position but I a much worse man than my brother yet he has adopted liberal aberrant theology. He's always LEARNING yet never able to arrive at any sure TRUTH. Very sad but we are to pray, Mitch I'm all in for you big guy. Praise God for Jeff and God using him and for eyes being opened to even have these conversations!
Wow i remember the first time i read ‘He who has ears to hear let him hear’ i cried. That was 9 months ago. What you just described in 1:09:00 was the most reassuring part of the entire teaching. The first time i heard His voice i couldnt grasp where it was coming from or if it was real since i was on drugs and drunk, growing up catholic made me atheist since the whole doctrine made no sense whatsoever at least to me. For 7 years i was an atheist ages 12-19. I met Him on December 9th, 2019. And when i realized it was Jesus talking to me we both started laughing like buddies, then He talked about things that made me feel upset and embarrassed bc i was a horrible person. There are still visions i had that i do not understand but after 2 years ive had a couple of things shown to me that night that have made sense. Only by following His path. But i had friends and addictions and it has taken me 2 years to truly follow Jesus. Ive decided to dwell in the light. I love you all so much. God Bless you.
I've aborted with my girlfriend and I can't say how sorry I am. I'm a disgusting human being and only since I really understood the gospel I realised what I done and I felt daunted and felt that without Jesus I would be sent to hell for sure. I've broken every commandment, without Jesus I'm literally damned.... Forgive me Jesus please
Blue Bird were all sinners man it's ok we all make mistakes and were all redeemable thanks to Jesus brotha stay strong keep going forward you'll see your baby again thanks to Jesus.
God is merciful and forgiving to all who turn to him. Remember the thief on the cross and the Lords response. There is more joy in heaven over one sinner who turns then you can ever know. If you repent and believe you will find Jesus to be a perfect savior. May God bless you and keep you always in his care.
1:09:44 This is exactly what happened when I read John 10:27-30 All those details of my life especially from childhood, have been summed up and boom all of sudden I started to cry imeansly because He knew me... and somehow I listened to His voice in certain moments where I wasn't even aware of... Amazing Grace
Man. Jesus is God. I've doubted before but the more I read the bible and the more I listen to your sermons I am totally convinced that God is 3 in one not 3 separate beings like the Mormon's believe.
This guy is awesome! Really knows his stuff and delivers a great serman. He's an inspiration to an aspiring preacher like myself. God bless him and his ministry.
Jeff, Thank you for this message. Your teaching is a blessing to me. Thank you for so passionately serving God by teaching and loving his sheep! God bless you!
“Who has hears, let them hear” the truth of Grace and Sovereign. Many Christians are not prepared to accept that they don’t have the power to bring anything to the table of salvation. Thank you for this amazing message, Jeff! May God bless you abundantly.
Sara Furtadom Who has ears to hear?..... John 8: 47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God. Luk 7: 29 ¶ And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. 30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. Matt 21: 28 ¶ But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. 29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. 30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. 31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him. Luk 1: 16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. 17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. Those who refused to repent were hardened.... Jhn 12: 39 ¶ Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, 40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. If Calvinism is true, then why did God have to harden them to prevent them from believing?
what you said is so shockingly unbiblical regarding the gospel of Jesus Christ that it is beyond absurd. Throughout Scripture God has held man accountable for his own choices.
@@robertfishter2862 So total depravity is false but God chooses by preventing people from believing and allowing others to believe? Is that your position? Kind of like a bouncer at a door where everyone is lined up because they want in but God just keeps most of them out?
Cecil is the cart b4 the horse on you salvific moment? No one chooses they are chosen and follow because the desire is implanted from the foundation of the earth The Elected, until the quickening, don't know they are being chosen. Just trying to understand your post.
@@IamGreatsword my friend I was not speaking of horses n carts.. You mean to tell me on purpose that GOD doesn't give us a choice whether to love HIM or not? GOD is not going to believe for us my friend this is not scriptural at all anywhere.. Show me where all chosen truly trust in GOD to receive salvation in Scripture.. Show me where all elect are saved and where only the elect are saved.. You simply can not in Scripture my friend.. This was so powerful! It helps me to know how to pray for my husband who isn’t saved. It helps me to take the burden off of my shoulders as it is only something Jesus grants and by nothing that I do that he will have eyes to see and ears to hear. Not my will father but your will be done and than you father for giving me the grace to repent and turn to you when I did not deserve it and did not have anything but filthy rags. God you’re worthy of it all! 😭 🙏🏻 Cause from you are all things and to you are all things. You deserve the glory Jesus.
Thank you Jeff, for your service to the Lord. Thank you heavenly father for using Jeff to bring your truth, your presence, and your love to your people. For Jesus Christ is the king of kings and the Lord of lords. Amen
You just made one thing so easy to understand. By God's blinding people, He gave them what they wanted. He knew that they would never accept or want salvation so why burden them. I realize now that he is doing them a favor. I have tried talking to some people about the Lord and usually they are very polite but after a while I realize that they have no interest in what I am saying, so I stop. I don't need to continue making them feel uncomfortable. But, my door is always open just like the Lord's door is always open.
The WORD doesn't come back void..!! Very Powerful and Annointed Message...Thankyou Lord for your Grace and MERCY!!.. Thankyou Jesus for your BLOOD that saves a wretched like me. God Bless you Pastor Jeff and your Ministry.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙌🙌
@@drawingwithlight2397 What do men have free will in? Sin. Did God predestine my response, typical Arminian objection? If there's something he didn't predestine is ge truly all sovereign?
@@christusomnipotens3751 I'm not questioning whether God is sovereign, but what God's nature is in the scope of our choices during life. The sovereignty I feel you believe in is the kind that is unloving, and therefore not what the God of the Bible is. How can Jesus be in a relationship with you is he chooses everything for you? How can his perfect love be selectively given to a group of people who didn't even want it in the first place? I believe that you are my bother in Christ not because you were on a list of people who would be saved, but because you knew in the core of your being that you were in sin and when the message of the gospel was heard by your ears, your spirit knew it to be true. It might take us time to come to salvation, but we are the ones who freely choose Jesus. I am so grateful for his mercy. This is a disputable point of view, but can be damaging to people who hear the gospel from the Calvinistic point of view. Where is the love and goodness of God in the world of the Calvinist? Where is our brokenness if it is not our own, but one we are created in? I don't have bible verses to quote for you, so this is my own reasoning. Is God writing this, or am I, guided by the Holy Spirit?
@@drawingwithlight2397 "I'm not questioning whether God is sovereign, but what God's nature is in the scope of our choices during life." Well let's look at the scope of choices of other men then. Were the Jews able to accept Jesus of their own free choice? No; "Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep." John 10:25-26 ESV Did Judas have a choice in betraying Jesus? No, Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil." John 6:70 ESV Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve. Luke 22:3 ESV What of the death of Christ? The Son of God HAD to die. And those men HAD to persecute him and crucify him. For God predestined all of it, and it was the most evil event in all of history.
The main concern I have with teaching predestination this way is that people will say "there's no need for me to be concerned about God, Jesus or the Bible because (they say) if it's God's will for me to get saved it will just happen" Jesus said "behold, I stand at your hearts door and knock, If any of you will open your heart to me, I will come in and sup with you" We don't know who will receive Christ. It's our responsibility to tell of Christ to all people. I really love Pastor Durbin's approach on abortion, cult religions, and apologetics, Not so sure about his position on this.
Jeff isn't saying that predestination means we cannot save others through God. Predestination simply means God already knows Everyone who will be saved, but he allows everyone to go through that process to understand the ending they all recieve
This was an amazing message, it brings so much peace in so many areas of our life to know that we can comfortably rest right now in Christ, and preach the good news without the burden of trying to convince people to believe, what they choose to reject, but instead preach like we are fishing for men, we throw the good news out, and whoever decides to take the bait, praise be to God, we will not carry the burden of trying to convince anyone about the truth of our Lord Jesus, because now we know and it is only by the power of God who can do that. God bless all of you.
Very well explained on which can be a sensitive subject to believer and none believers. Very awakening. I pray that it opens hearts for all who watch this video.
Admittedly, it's a hard doctrine to get a handle on. When you can finally flip it in your mind though, and see it through the right perspective it explains so much of this fallen world and the desperate need mankind has for redemption. G-d's grace truly is amazing and totally sufficient. Without it we're lost indeed. Sin and its consequences are real; look around for just a minute; then look inside. We fall short and need Christ's most gracious gift of faith by grace unto good works we cannot accomplish ever on our own. His righteousness & life in exchange for our sin & death...very gracious.
John 3:16. For God so Loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. That WHOSOEVER belives in Him might not perish but have everlasting life. He means everybody.
Look at that again......"God so Loved the world" - His creation, that Whosever believes in Him"- those that believe (not everyone) "shall not perish, but have everlasting life" Lauren peace be you.
Whosoever believes means whosoever believes. And who believes? Only the regenerate because a dead blind captive child of Wrath is incapable of believing or doing anything else that is pleasing to God and remains that way until the son sets him free.
God is not willing that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) We have a free will. God tells us he has given us each a measure of faith (romans 12:3) and it’s up to us who we put that faith in. God does not send anybody to heaven or hell. He offers a way to escape to anyone who accepts his free gift. We must call upon him and put our faith in Christ alone.
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. Romans 8:29-30 ....just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. Ephesians 1:4-6
The way I understand Gods word is that Jesus Christ is at the door knocking, He doesn’t push His way in, He paid our penalty for sin, but it does take us to repent and open the door for Jesus to take residence in us and we are His, whoever won’t accept what Jesus has to offer is doing it by free will and God will give us what we want.
Dear Jeff Durbin: Why then are we rewarded, and for what? “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”(Jer.17:10) ""Behold, I come quickly. My reward is with me, to repay to each man according to his work." (Rev.22:12)
Does man have a choice? "If you repent, I will restore you." (Jer.15:19) "I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve." (Jer.17:10) Enough said!
There is no quality in being loved by someone who does not have a choice. Even the secular world understands true love: "If you love somebody, set them free."
God opens the eyes of some out of pure grace bc He does love us. If God never reached out to us we would always wonder in the opposite direction. We have no desire for God, only to ourselves... We choose the wrong things all day long or they might be "good things", but still selfish so to be seen by others as good or some other kind of self gain. He has to choose us bc we would never choose Him.
lindsay parsons YOU SAID: “If God never reached out to us we would always wander in the opposite direction.” REPLY: I agree 100%. But the Good News is that He HAS reached out to us! Yes mankind has total moral depravity, completely separated from God Spiritually and is totally lost and helpless to save himself and would remain in his fallen state IF left on his own UNLESS God took the first step and initiated the opportunity to be saved. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT WE’RE NOT ON OUR OWN ANYMORE! He sent HIS SON. He sent HIS HOLY SPIRIT. He gave us HIS WORD. He speaks to us through HIS CREATION. What more do you WANT? What more do you NEED? Was God’s plan not sufficient enough? Was it not perfect? Is Christ not sufficient enough? Is God’s word not sufficient enough? Is all of creation not sufficient enough? Is everything that God’s done in taking the DIVINE INITIATIVE AND FIRST STEP towards us not compelling or persuasive enough that He still has to effectually make us believe or else none would come to Him? Do you not believe the Holy Spirit is doing His job properly? JOHN 16:7-9 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, HE WILL REPROVE THE WORLD OF SIN, AND OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND OF JUDGMENT: 9 OF SIN, BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE NOT ON ME; God HAS in fact took that first step towards us in an effort to reconcile mankind back to Himself. While we were yet sinners wanting nothing to do with God and His ways He chose to reach out to us. He chose to reach out to the world while we spat on His face, mocked and shouted crucify Him. HE’S DONE ALL THIS. IT’S FINISHED. He took the initiative and sent His Son not just for you n me. Not just for a select few but for the whole world. That WHOSOEVER believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. The fact is some do perish and it’s because they FREELY CHOOSE TO REJECT GOD’S MERCY. They freely reject the gift offered to them. Not because they weren’t chosen but because they freely reject it.
And remember freedom of choice that he gave also to the angels He gave also to man is one of the greatest love acts that a Creator can give to his creation we must always remember that.
When the Angels left their first estate did they retain their freedom of choice? Jude tells us that they did not. Is it possible to Satan tomorrow will decide to worship God? The Bible says it is not. According to the Bible the fallen angels are not free to serve God. The difference is Christ came to save his people from their sin. He gave his life as a ransom for many. The Bible never tells us this of the Angels so the analogy fails. Grace and peace to you.
20july1944 You're asking me if the decision God made to create those destined for hell is a loving one. I would have to judge God in order to do that. Ultimately it doesn't matter if God does what we call good or evil. He is God. He does what he wills.
“Repent and believe the Gospel” is willingness (head knowledge) to want to turn from sin due to conviction caused by heating the Law and then God sees that and then grants repentance - ability to turn from sin - by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. That makes you for “all to come”. God is not a repeater of persons. Thank - God!
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. Ephesians 1:4-6
“At that time Jesus said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth [I openly and joyfully acknowledge Your great wisdom], that You have hidden these things [these spiritual truths] from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants [to new believers, to those seeking God’s will and purpose]. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one fully knows and accurately understands the Son except the Father; and no one fully knows and accurately understands the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son [deliberately] wills to reveal Him. “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST (renewal, blessed quiet) FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.”” MATTHEW 11:25-30 AMP
From Wikipedia: "Unconditional election" asserts that God has chosen from eternity those whom he will bring to himself not based on foreseen virtue, merit, or faith in those people; rather, his choice is unconditionally grounded in his mercy alone. God has chosen from eternity to extend mercy to those he has chosen and to withhold mercy from those not chosen. Those chosen receive salvation through Christ alone. Those not chosen receive the just wrath that is warranted for their sins against God. So what you are saying is that Adam and Eve were created to eat from the wrong tree. Hmm...
Yes Because Christ was a plan Before humanity Christ was predicted why do you think God told them that Form their womb will come somebody who will overcome the serpent? Why was he always for told true generation about the messiah ?
Why should someone be afraid because they disagree with this? This is an in-house debate, Calvinists, Arminians, and the in between are all Christians.
‘Believer’ in the Greek meant ‘follower’. He gives all the chance but few willfully deny due to love of sin. He grants us an ability to respond to the Gospel- ‘responsibility’ to the Gospel as a gift, so to speak because He is not a respecter of persons. He knows what line He wants each of us to come up to based on past heartaches, etc., but only a few will cow to that place.
Apologia please explain: 1. Were Adam and Eve able to choose to eat from the wrong tree? 2. If they were programmed to commit evil why is God, who created them that way, holding them accountable? Is it because He can? 3. Was satan programmed to turn evil, or did he choose to go against God?
Mario Alleckna, You have excellent questions, That means you really think, not like most Christians who just swallow everything what their pastors say.... We cannot answer everything in the bible, because the scribes who wrote the bible did not explain everything, They just write what the Holy Spirit inspired them to write, So our answer is more of a guess than bible facts.... Question 1. Whether Adam and Eve were programmed or not, I believe that God intentionally wanted them to fall.... Why did God allowed Lucifer to be in the garden where He should placed Adam and Eve? Why did God placed the tempting tree when He knows that Adam and Eve will fall prey? Therefore God wanted that Adam and Eve will fall and the whole world will experienced sufferings.... Now the next question could be: Why did God allowed sufferings when He can bring us to heaven without sufferings, My best guess is: We will appreciate it more when we are in heaven if we experienced sufferings.... Example: Suppose a child was born from a very rich and good parents, From birth until he grow up, he have everything he wanted in life, he did not desire anything that he did not get.... And another child was born from a very poor family.... He experienced lots of sufferings until he grow up, hard works, lack of foods, cannot afford to buy even medicine when he is sick, but later in his life he became very rich because he did everything he can to get rich..... Now, who of the two appreciate being rich in their later life? Of course the one who suffered a lot..... Question no.2 Although they were accountable, God Knows that It was His decision for them to fall..... Both Adam and Eve are definitely Saved because they are the True Children of God by Heredity..... There sufferings on earth for a short time is nothing compared to the joy in heaven for all eternity..... Imagine a line from earth to the moon and think of it as eternity, Our life on earth is just a tiny dot in that line, almost invisible....... Question No. 3 Was satan programmed to turn evil, or did he choose to go against God? This is the hardest question and I cannot answer it now..... On one hand, If Satan choose to go against God, Why did God created him, when God knows that Satan will rebel against Him.... On the other hand, It is written in Revelation that the devil and his angels will suffer eternally in the lake of fire...... I cannot imagine a just and loving God will create someone and let him suffer eternally in the lake of fire.....
Why do always tears come to my eyes when i think about the grace of Jesus? I cant understand why Jesus revealed himself to me. I was never a religious man and i was very evil during my life. Except murder, raping and child abuse i did every other sin a million times. I even hated God and mocked all believers, called them filthy words. Why do I even deserve his mercy? Now i pray, i read the bible, i watch every day christian videos for hours and my character changed. But i still dont understand why Jesus came into my life. I was not worthy at all and i am not even sure i am worth it today. Why do i cry so often by thinking about Jesus and his mercy?
Are you sure you are amongst the chosen? How can you be absolutely certain? Your god sounds very distant, a high and lofty king and ruler who has no children but only subjects. But you are not puppets on a string! You are not slaves, owned by some king who might, or might not, have mercy! You are made in His image! You are His beloved children! And with His Spirit living inside of you, you can know Him as your loving, strong and mighty Father. He loved you first, before you were even born! And when you truly love Him back, you know about His sovereignty and justice. Like a Father, He loves you! Like a Father He wants to guide and protect you! Like a Father He wants to have a relationship with you, based on love! He chose to make you in his own image as a precious son or daughter; you did not choose to make yourself! He loves ALL of His creation because “it was good,” and He IS love! His mercy endures forever! And, like a Father, He chastens whom He loves. His justice is just! He does not punish because He can. He does not harden hearts or blind eyes because He can. He does not show favouritism. He wishes that All of His precious creation would come into a loving relationship with Him. He wishes that all prodigal sons and daughters would turn back to Him! He gives many chances to His creation. Those who refuse to follow His loving, protecting guidelines and have been stubborn will be punished, blinded or hardened, the way He decides because He alone knows their hearts and true intentions! (1Sam.16:7) “Choose you this day whom you will serve.” (Josh.24) Like the prodigal son, we can choose to turn from evil and come back to a loving Father. In His love He will run towards us.
Grace Marie Romans 9:10-14 before Jacob and Esau were born or had done anything good or bad God said he loved Jacob and hated Esau is there any Injustice with God certainly not. Grace, that is a beautiful name and it's a wonderful concept meaning" unmerited favor". Simply existing under the federal head of our father Adam we are deserving of death and eternal damnation no human being has ever or will ever deserve Grace that is why it is so beautiful .he chooses Those whom he will give it to even though they don't deserve it. when we here "Jacob I loved and Esau I hated". instead of wondering why God hated Esau we should wonder why God loved Jacob! Sister, if you have ever come across a scripture that you did not understand because it did not fit with what you already believed please keep digging .God's truth is in his word and he will reveal it to you .God bless!
Christ does give rest and isn’t slow to fulfill his promise. Give him time to accomplish what you ask of him. If it’s his will he will allow it. Have faith that he is working paving that road and removing those road blocks. Be patient as he fills in those potholes so you may safely reach your goal. If it’s according to his will the unmovable mountain becomes movable.
True quality love can only exist where there is freedom of choice! To be loved by a creation that has no other choice holds no quality! And what about satan? Was the devil free to choose evil? If he was pre-programmed then it wasn’t his fault. So why is he condemned to Hell? And why put 2 trees in the Garden to choose from if it doesn’t make a difference? Did Joshua waste his time when asking the people to “choose you this day…?” (Josh.24) True justice can only exist where there is the ability to choose. Is God just? He certainly is! Judgement comes AFTER a person chooses. Without being given a choice there is no need for judgement, and without commandments there is no wrong doing!
Comparing humans to the devil holds no ground. The devil was not fallen man enslaved to sin. Neither was Adam & Eve before the fall. The bible tells us that we are fallen creatures enslaved to sin and by nature children of wrath. It's not that we don't have free will, it's that we will always choose sin over God because of our nature. The only reason we come to faith in Christ is because we are regenerated and no longer are enslaved to sin. Also your comments about justice Paul answered 2,000 years ago. Go read Romans 9.
God the Saviour does bring His chosen ones to a willingness and desire and ability to love Him and that is the work and responsibility of God our Saviour. Man does not decide or determine it.
Keith Fuson, false, it’s completely within our hands whether we go to heaven or hell. Grace extended by God for salvation is only imputed to those who by choice have exercised faith in Christ. Jesus says where is YOUR faith, not where is my faith.
The core of the argument is trying to reconcile the Love of God and the Wrath of God. Romans chapters 1-5 will be a good read on this issue. They will also explain God's Sovereignty vs man's will and responsibility. God's blessings on you all.
Question for my non-Calvinist friends; King Saul wanted to remain king and God clearly didn't respect his will. What makes you think God will respect yours? You did not write your name down in the Book of Life - God did. God decides whether you make it into Heaven or not - you have nothing to do to influence that decision because the decision was already made "before you were formed" (Jeremiah 1:5) .
@Toni: >Question for my non-Calvinist friends; King Saul wanted to remain king and God clearly didn't respect his will. What makes you think God will respect yours?< God respected King Saul's will perfectly - He let him go astray. But as God is God and get what He wants, He didn't allow him to remain king. I'm confused as to what the relevance of that example is. >You did not write your name down in the Book of Life - God did. God decides whether you make it into Heaven or not - you have nothing to do to influence that decision because the decision was already made "before you were formed" (Jeremiah 1:5).< All Jeremiah 1:5 tells is us that God is omniscient, again something that no one denies. Of course he was chosen - but why was he chosen? The problem is that you are declaring God's decisions and man's to be mutually exclusive when there's no reason to think this. Why would God be interested in saving people who will never repent? He's not. He is, however, interested in saving all who would ever repent, and He will accomplish this perfectly. Of course, as a Calvinist, you think man has no ability to repent unless he is first regenerated. This inability is the crux of the issue, and what makes Calvinism nonsensical, for it has no basis for man's responsibility. If man cannot repent, then God cannot hold him accountable for not repenting. After all, the very reason they're unable to repent is because God designed all men to be damned and made totally depraved through the Fall...Creatures can only choose according to their greatest desire. But, then, as Adam sinned, clearly that was his greatest desire, designed by God. So everyone rejects God naturally because God designed them to do so. Hence, a question for you: how is man responsible to God if he has no ability to repent?
"God respected King Saul's will perfectly - He let him go astray." Nope. Saul wanted to remain king and God removed him from power. God had told Saul "Alright, you can be king if you obey me" and since Saul wanted to be king he accepted these conditions. However Saul did a half-ass job obeying God, and yes, God definitely let Saul slip up, but even after Saul had obviously failed his objectives he still very much wanted to be king . Saul's will was so clear, that when God instructed Samuel to go find a new king, Samuel told God "Saul's going to kill me if I go looking for a replacement!". Saul was jealously guarding his position as king - it was his will to remain in power. God didn't respect Saul's will in the slightest! "Why would God be interested in saving people who will never repent?" I'd imagine that answer is somewhere in the concept of "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son" (John 3:16) It is in God's nature to be loving, but don't ever mistake that with the idea He owes us His love (or anything else for that matter). Our life is a GIFT, not something we some how earned - it was given to us freely, and I'm sure you understand how nobody is morally obligated to give you free gifts. The Book of Job is a stunning example of this. God is the master of this universe - He isn't morally obligated to take care of us, otherwise we would have power over Him; anyone who has power over God is the true God. "If man cannot repent, then God cannot hold him accountable for not repenting." Our justice system does exactly the opposite; we take an unrepentant murderer, rapist, or thief and punish them with a jail sentence for being unrepentant. The idea is if the criminal does not repent, he will be jailed his entire life - if the criminal is mentally unable to recognize the wrong they've committed, we continue the punishment of holding them captive regardless. We purposefully aim to hold people accountable for their actions; whether they did wrong on purpose or not, whether they are repentant or not - you will be punished. "How is man responsible to God if he has no ability to repent?" Actions have consequences. It's a universal reality and the essence of justice. If you as a human being do something, your action will have an effect that can be traced directly back to your decision. Your inability to repent has not excused you from the fact that you've done wrong, for example if you murder someone without knowing murder is wrong, that doesn't suddenly transform murder into a good thing. If you do wrong in God's eyes, you're not going to right the wrong by telling Him "I didn't know any better" - you are still personally responsible for turning a living human being into a corpse. You are responsible for your actions because your will is the cause of them. The Calvinist believes humans have their own wills, but that our will is naturally drawn to do evil. Thankfully God intervenes - He manipulates our wills - and when He gets his hands on us we produce good works instead of the evil ones we naturally would choose to produce. This is why as Christians we recognize that ALL good things come from God - we humans are much too sucky to do something good by ourselves. We need God to work through us in order for us to produce something good.
@Toni: >Nope. Saul wanted to remain king and God removed him from power. God had told Saul "Alright, you can be king if you obey me" and since Saul wanted to be king he accepted these conditions. However Saul did a [horrible] job obeying God, and yes, God definitely let Saul slip up, but even after Saul had obviously failed his objectives he still very much wanted to be king . Saul's will was so clear, that when God instructed Samuel to go find a new king, Samuel told God "Saul's going to kill me if I go looking for a replacement!". Saul was jealously guarding his position as king - it was his will to remain in power. God didn't respect Saul's will in the slightest!< None of your reply even addresses the rest of what I said: >But as God is God and get what He wants, He didn't allow him to remain king. I'm confused as to what the relevance of that example is.< Seriously, what does King Saul have to do with free will? Nobody believes God bends to man's whims. >Our justice system does exactly the opposite; we take an unrepentant murderer, rapist, or thief and punish them with a jail sentence for being unrepentant. The idea is if the criminal does not repent, he will be jailed his entire life - if the criminal is mentally unable to recognize the wrong they've committed, we continue the punishment of holding them captive regardless. We purposefully aim to hold people accountable for their actions; whether they did wrong on purpose or not, whether they are repentant or not - you will be punished.< Um...what? Do you think that insane people are morally culpable for committing crimes? They're not being punished, they're kept in custody to protect themselves as well as others. If they were made sane, by miracle or by medical help, they would be allowed to go free and live a normal life. >Actions have consequences. This is why as Christians we recognize that ALL good things come from God - we humans are much too sucky to do something good by ourselves. We need God to work through us in order for us to produce something good.< This doesn't answer the question at all. The reason men are unable to repent is because God designed men to be unable to repent via the Fall. Men would have every reason to blame God if they were unable to do anything but evil, because He's the one who made them that way. There is no one who does not know murder is wrong but the severely mentally disabled. Paul speaks often in Romans how even the Gentiles know right and wrong from the light of creation alone, their conscience being a law unto themselves without the Mosaic law. Completely broken comparison.
King Saul's fall is an example of how God doesn't bend to man's whims. If God doesn't bend to man's whims, that means you cannot convince God to save you. When God calls us to "repent and believe" it's so we can distinguish for ourselves that we have been saved- we know God has saved us because we do feel bad when we disobey Him, and we do honestly believe that His son died for our sins. If you are an unbeliever, you cannot possibly come to "repent and believe" by yourself. For example, if I told you it is completely safe to jump off a cliff, are you going to automatically believe me? Of course not. But here you are, insisting that people screaming "repent and believe!" will make people repent and believe in God's sacrifice :/ "Do you think that insane people are morally culpable for committing crimes?" No, they are not morally culpable but they are still responsible for their actions. If an insane person kills another person, the murdered person isn't the cause of their own death. For the same reason an insane person is still held accountable for causing the death of someone else, unrepentant people will be held responsible (by God) for their actions. Do you still not understand why God can judge unrepentant people?
So then, did Jesus have a choice when tempted by the devil? Or was He pre-programed to do the right thing? To give man a choice doesn't mean giving up sovereignty! It rather means to look for the highest quality in a relationship. Love coming from a Robot is dead! True quality love can only exist where there is freedom of choice! To be loved by a creation that has no other choice holds no quality! Was satan free to choose evil? If he was pre-programmed then it wasn't his fault. So why is he condemned to Hell? Why put 2 trees in the Garden to choose from if it doesn't make a difference? And so Joshua was wrong when asking the people to "choose you this day...?" True justice can only exist where there is the ability to choose. Is God just? He certainly is! Judgement comes AFTER a person chooses. Without being given a choice there is no need for judgement, and without commandments there is no wrong doing! And no, we won't have to choose anymore in Heaven. God's goal to separate the Gold from the rock, those who truly love Him out of a free will (think quality!), is accomplished here on earth. There will be no darkness to choose in Heaven!
Your post reminds me of the question that was asked to a country preacher by a farmer. He asked, "is it ok to pray while I am sitting, or laying down or while I was in the middle of eating a meal or must I be kneeling in my prayer closet". The preacher replied, "Let me tell you about the best, most fervent, prayer I ever prayed. I was staying at a house that had no indoor plumbing but had a well outside and an outhouse. I was thirsty and needed a drink late at night while everybody else in the house was sleeping. I figured I would go out to the well and help myself. It was pitch black out, no moon or stars. but I knew where the well was so I proceeded. Right before I reached the well I stumbled on a rock and pitched forward, as I stumbled, I fell head first into the well and dropped into it about 7 feet before I abruptly stopped falling. I was wedged upside down, stuck tight between the walls of the well. It was then I prayed the most fervent prayer I ever had in my life". So , is it ok to preach in a casual shirt? I don't know the circumstances but my guess is that God doesn't mind .
Spot on anointed message as always my brother and I am eternally grateful for you and ministry...all praises to our mystic man Jesus "Yahshua". How absolutely amazing our Messiah is. 🕊🏳🌈🐝✝️🙏🏽✨. Amen WOW PURE LOVE - correct me father show me your way, not mine. I want to die of this flesh every second of every day. I AM YOURS. My goodness I'm honored to be in his presence...I certainly don't deserve one second...honored am I. Praying for all, please continue to pray for us. Safe travels to all as we do what God has commissioned .
Can I just say: I am a fan of Jeff Durbin and I am completely pro life and have been watching his ministry as well and am completely for what he does. However I do not agree with how you are addressing others on this thread regarding their disagreement or if they may not completely understand a certain point that Jeff is trying to make in his sermon. The undertone is very rude and not professional. If you are going to address a misundertading especially within the body of Christ, even if they are not in your, church I would encourage not to do it in the way it was presented. Thank you.
@Andrew C I finally found you. I hate to tell you this Andrew but you have probably never had one independent thought in your life. You're full of Enlightenment thinking like most people nowadays. You get your ideas from Voltaire and Rousseau and Marx and Nietzsche, though I'm sure you're not consistent with them, and act like you came up with those ideas on your own. The truth is, you're a dead deaf blind and lost slave who is under the illusion of being free. There's no-one so enslaved as the slave who doesn't realize he's a Slave. Like most moderns you have no metaphysics, which means you have no ethics and a very poor ontology. May the God you blaspheme, which you know nothing of, open your blinded eyes and reveal his grace to you so your miserable existence can finally have some meaning!
You inspire me to be a better person and recognize all the hypocrisy in my own life. Many will lash out against you, keep doing God’s work cause it’s not about pleasing people but pleasing God👍🏻
@@a.gadfly9109 What point is there in creating people in such a way (before they were even born) that they can only choose "good" because the Creator created them that way? It is like saying to a tree, "choose if you wish to be a tree." It is a silly exercise! There is no question that we cannot save ourself. However, in the OT we find 17 uses of "free will." How do you explain the following Scriptures: Deuteronomy 11:26-28 (KJV) "Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; A blessing, IF ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, IF ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known." (The word "IF" clearly suggests that one has to choose! Now, you might say that God created a certain number of people with the ability to obey, and also a certain number of people to disobey whereby being cursed through His choosing. That seems like creating Turkeys to be slaughtered, and Peacocks for your Garden, and then asking all of these birds "who wants to be a peacock?") Rev. 22:17: "And the one thirsting let him come; the one desiring, let him take freely the water of life." If God created these with a builtin desire to, freely take the water of life, then why do the silly exercise of asking them to freely take the water? Since you and I are in disagreement, and you view Calvinism as the correct interpretation of Scripture, this would mean that I am lost without having been pre-destined for Heaven. So why bother...??
Mario Alleckna You misrepresent Calvinism in your first sentence which shows that you don't know anything at all about what you're talking about. You should really think about what you're saying and you wouldn't say such foolish absurd ridiculous nonsense. Talking with my pet dog would make more sense then talking to you at this point because he knows more about what he's talking about. Whoever said God created people that could only choose good? Where did Adam and Eve come from under a Cabbage Patch? I think when they chose to eat from the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil they chose bad not good. Honestly I don't know where you come up with these ideas. Not only don't you understand what you're talking about when it comes to Calvinism you don't even understand the English language. If is part of a conditional statement. To prove that man has free will you will have to use indicative statements from the scriptures. Not subjunctive, conditional or imperative statements because nothing about so-called free will can be proven from conditional statements. If pigs had wings they could fly. Does that statement prove anything about the flying ability of pigs one way or another? If you can lift a hundred thousand pounds over your head you'll be the strongest man on Earth. Does that statement prove anything about your ability to lift a hundred thousand pounds over your head? You may need to go back and learn English before you start blabbing in public formats and embarrassing yourself. All this can't be blamed on your ignorance because you've already been corrected about some of it. You've already been told the Calvinists do not teach that people go to hell for not believing in Calvinism people go to hell for their sin and you know this very well. All you're doing is baiting people and making a caricature of Calvinism so it's an easy target to attack. Like $0.02 told you, you try to make a pinata and swing a stick at it but you're too stupid to hit it. You don't even deserve an answer you deserve a good rebuke because you're insecure and disingenuous as well as ignorant of the thing you're misrepresenting. Learn something for yourself and then you can teach others.
@@a.gadfly9109 I am sorry that I have obviously caused your heart-rate to increase. Anyhow, you are saying that Wikipedia has it wrong? From Wikipedia: "Unconditional election" asserts that God has chosen from eternity those whom he will bring to himself not based on foreseen virtue, merit, or faith in those people; rather, his choice is unconditionally grounded in his mercy alone. God has chosen from eternity to extend mercy to those he has chosen and to withhold mercy from those not chosen. Those chosen receive salvation through Christ alone. Those not chosen receive the just wrath that is warranted for their sins against God." You obviously have not looked at any Bible scholars (NO, I am not talking about myself!) who plainly, by using Scripture, show that Calvinistic Theology is flawed. " "Whoever said God created people that could only choose good?" Exactly: Calvinism is teaching that we are only able to choose "bad." Of course, you would say that we are very different from Adam and Eve. They could choose, but we can't; we are doomed unless God chooses... But wait, didn't God choose everything BEFOREHAND, which would mean that Adam and Eve DID NOT really choose! I would really like your expert explanation re. the following Scriptures: Deuteronomy 11:26-28 (KJV) "Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; A blessing, IF ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, IF ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known." (The word "IF" clearly suggests that one has to choose! Perhaps God programmed some to choose "this", and others to choose "that?") Rev. If you would ..., here is Dr. Ravi Zacharias: soteriology101.com/2017/06/16/why-ravi-zacharias-rejects-calvinism/
Mario Alleckna Wow you've gone right to the top Wikipedia who could ever argue with that? Now you're changing things all together, this is what I said. Whoever said God created people who could only choose good? I didn't see anything in your Wikipedia definition the refuted what I'm saying or affirmed what you've been saying. As far as unregenerate people being unable to please God you're not arguing with me you're arguing with the scripture Romans 3:10-18 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. The Bible describes unregenerate man as dead in trespasses and sins spiritually blind deaf to the voice of God a captive of Satan a child of Wrath. Put that together with the text above and tell me about the ability of unregenerate man to choose God or choose that which is pleasing to God. For the third and final time Calvinists do not teach that those who are not calvinist are damned to hell so there's no sense in repeating your same errors over and over, it doesn't make them true. I noticed you never addressed your lack of understanding of the English language and it's obvious because you keep repeating the same meaningless jargon. Unless you have something new to say trouble me no more with your foolishness.
I've only just begun to watch this video, but already can see where it's heading. So I must pause now and interject... The "Bible" you are quoting says, "and no one knows the father except the son, and anyone to whom the son CHOOSES to reveal him."? If that is truley what that verse says that you are quoting, then it does not line up with what the KJV says, as the word CHOOSES is not in the KJV. Perhaps the "translators" of whatever version you are reading from purposely ADDED that word to skew the text to support the Calvinist doctrine that God chooses who is saved or not, rather than allowing whosoever will to choose to believe God and be saved as a result of his decision to trust in Christ for his salvation. Let's look at the King James: Matthew 11:27 KJV All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. First notice it does not say, "to whomsover the Son CHOOSES to reveal him, but WILL reveal him. You know that Jesus clearly stated in John chapter 3: John 3:14-18 KJV And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: [15] That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. [16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. [18] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Jesus said nothing about choosing who would believe. He said whosoever would. That sounds like free will to me. Romans 10:13 KJV For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. But you say, but God predestined whom he would choose to be his elect. But the scripture must be read in its entirety to see who chose: Ephesians 1:5-12 KJV Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, [6] To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. [7] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; [8] Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; [9] Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: [10] That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: [11] In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: [12] That we should be to the praise of his glory, who FIRST trusted in Christ. So you see, God, before the world began decided (predestinated) CHOSE, looking down through the corridor of time after creation, to save those who would trust in Christ.
Free will is ' the heart is wicked and deceitful above all things...' Free will is 'No one seeks after God, not one.' God's sovereignty is from John 6 etc etc, "ALL the Father has promised to give me will come to me."
βούλομαι this Greek word means to will or purpose deliberately which is the same meaning as to choose. God does not look through time to make up his mind. You are gravely mistaken in both your understanding of God and your understanding of scripture. Obviously you're a King James onliest, probably an Independent Baptist which is a huge problem in itself. The 1611 King James, which no one uses by the way, had footnotes and Alternate readings and the translators recognized it to be one of a number of Possible English translations of the inspired Greek manuscripts. Only after the fact did it take on a life of its own like the Latin Vulgate that the Roman Catholics venerated and considered the only valid scriptures for nearly a thousand years. William Tyndale was martyred for translating the scriptures into English based on the same mentality as the King James only people. Think about it!
I've only begun to read your blog and already see where you're heading so I must pause and interject. I can tell already that you've bought into the King James only cult. My guess is you're a fundamentalist Baptist. I know all the apostles wrote in King James English and all but really? Myths can be useful but once they become untenable it should be given up. The 1611 King James had translator notes and Alternate readings Etc but the edited version that all the King James only people use is the Blaney revision from the late 1700s. No one really uses the 1611 King James, they just pretend or think they do. The King James version is fine but it shouldn't be put on a pedestal or setup as a standard like the Roman Catholics did with Jerome's Latin Vulgate translation for over a thousand years. We were warned in that same Bible not to nullify the word of God with our traditions.
All you say that calvinism is demonic, or that it’s evil, a horrid lie, etc. But you have no answer for the scriptures, Jesus himself said, for many are called but few are CHOSEN. after a parable about salvation, and to say that believing in the full sovereignty of God disqualifies us from being saved... be careful, your changing the gospel, you change the gospel from trusting in Jesus’s work on the cross for salvation to if you believe that God is in control of everything, then you’re not saved, and that’s not what jesus said.
Amen.
@@jordanmarshall8397 you don’t if you do you would agree in election God is all knowing so he predestine the elect to get saved ? Ephesians 1:4 -11 Bible perfectly says that nobody seeks after God how can you be saved if you can’t reach God ? arminianism is really dangerous don’t deny scriptures protect God s God chooses you sir You don’t Choose him
Jeff Durbin...Please, feel free to answer my questions! PEOPLE...God is calling EVERY ONE of us, every time we are in a horrible situation we can't see our way out of...We don't THINK to call on our SAVIOR, instead we resist the call, and take the problem on ourselves...and fail miserably! Next time, call on him...he's waiting for you! I hope your lives are blessed daily!
I think Calvinism confuses God's perfect will with God's permissive will. In other words, just because God permits evil to occur doesn't mean he approves of it. God is all powerful and all knowing. He has granted us all the ability to choose good and or evil. He knows already knows what each of us will choose, never the less he gives the window of opportunity to make the right choice (middle knowledge). At the end of the day we get to choose what to do and God is perfectly justified in granting us free will being that he isn't a dictator and wants us to choose him.
FEELSonWHEELS said"'He doesn't know what we will choose because they future doesn't exist yet. He knows all he wants to know, and knows that the future is partly settled and partly open. If he knew for a fact what we would choose we would have no free choice; future decisions would be just as settled as past decisions."" He wrote the book before Creation,so yes,He knows everything from beginning to end, because He imagined it all and He brings it to pass and right, there is no free choice,it's all decreed, but we have no idea what He has decreed until it comes to pass.God made two kinds of pots from the same clay, one fitted to destruction and one chosen for glory before hand, yet everyone is commanded to repent and believe and only those who Jesus died for, will. If men don't like this,Paul has an answer,''Who are you O man to talk back to God and tell Him that you don't like how He's made you",does the pot tell the potter how He should do things? Read all of Romans 9 for a hard truth.
There are none righteous, no not one. Does that sound familiar? It should if you read your Bible. So much for man's ability to do good in his natural state. God does have two Wills his revealed will or prescriptive or will, it could be called any of these things, and his hidden will, which I suppose could be called his permissive will. As long as it's understood that God will permit nothing that he doesn't ultimately approve of and use for our good and His glory. I am a calvinist and it is not us who are confused about God's will it is the Arminians who are confused. If anything is evil according to God's revealed will it would be the murder of an innocent person. The Bible tells us Jesus was the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world. This means Christ's sacrifice was God's plan from the beginning. In Acts 2 and Acts 4 this is stated clearly. Pilate and Herod and Judas and the wicked unbelieving Jews only did what God had decreed from the beginning. The difference was in the motive, the unbelieving Jews acted out of evil malice and are therefore sinful and guilty. God acted out of his love for his elect, to save his people from their sins as the Bible says. As far as God knowing what will happen in the future this is true but he doesn't know it in a passive sense as though he learns or finds out something by looking through the corridors of time. This is a very simplistic and false way of viewing God's foreknowledge. God knows the future because he decrees the future. Middle knowledge was invented by Melina as a way of holding on to free will but most people who speak of middle knowledge don't understand it at all. Most people who speak of Gods necessary and contingent knowledge and knowledge of hypotheticals and counterfactuals don't really understand what they are babbling about. The truth of the matter is most people don't want to admit that God is in control of all things at all times. People are not in control they are under control either under the control of the Flesh and Satan or under the control of the Spirit and God. Romans 6:20 tells us the natural man is a slave to sin and free from righteousness. In John Jesus said that whoever serves sin is a slave to sin but if the son sets you free you shall be free indeed. In John 15:5 Jesus said that apart from him we can do nothing. I always ask people, "What part of nothing do you not understand?" Gods plan is simple but not simplistic. God calls all people to repent and believe the gospel but as the Bible says many are called but few are chosen. Anyone who is willing to come to Christ will be accepted and find him to be a perfect savior but no one should ever think that that willingness was separate from the grace of God. Even the desire to come to God is a gift from God. Every good gift and every perfect gift comes down from the Father of Lights as James says. Bottom line: God gets the glory and is responsible for all good things, therefore there is no place for boasting on my part. This is Calvinism and it is a beautiful thing, all glory to God. Spurgeon once said if anyone ever says to you "give me a summary of this man's Doctrine" tell them this, all glory to God in salvation and all blame to man for his sin. Spurgeon was known as the prince of preachers and he was thoroughly calvinist. Most people are dreadfully confused about what Calvinism really is. it is a system of theology based on scripture that gives God the Glory in all things. Please consider these things prayerfully and try to understand them in the light of scripture not mens prejudices. Grace and peace to you.
Thank u for answering my question on this, Pastor. I've questioned this for a long time! Thank u. Also, a special shout out to all the atheists who flock like black sheep, always following Believers and watching all these gospel videos and spending so much of ur time on something u dont even believe in. Thank u for being so dedicated to a God u dont believe in, and spending ur day stalking Christians so u can spout out ideas nobody asked for so u can achieve ur self fulfillment because ya know, the only thing better than believing in a "false God" is trashing people who simply wanna believe in something good. Thank u guys, I love u all. Just glad to not have ur habits anymore.
I am not an atheist but an open minded agnostic so sure I will watch some preaching of many different kinds and religions. If something reaches me so be it. I never harrass people on the street with hidden video. Plus I've always been drawn to narcissists.

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, AS MANY AS THE LORD OUR GOD WILL CALL.” Acts 2:21, 38-39 There is no Revelation 32:17 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I NEVER KNEW YOU; DEPART FROM ME, you who practice lawlessness!’ “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” Matthew 7:21-27 AS MANY AS I LOVE, I REBUKE AND CHASTEN. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. Revelation 3:19-21 None of these scriptures oppose predestination, in fact they fit perfectly within this Truth.
Apologia: Anyone..., have you ever struggled with temptation? Did you have to battle your thoughts? Did you have to make the right choice? Or was it just a walk in the park telling the devil, your thoughts, your temptations, to get lost because you were wired to just do the right thing? How can it be that Job was a blameless man before God? Was he wired (programmed) to be blameless? Did he battle to remain blameless, or was he pre-chosen to stand firm? Your doctrine causes people to say: "Why bother praying hard and seeking Him, since God picks and chooses anyway. Who knows if I'll be picked since there is nothing, really, that I can do." Your doctrine causes people to stop battling, pursuing, knocking, seeking, pressing onward...
I spent my life clawing my way to the bottom, blaming and deflecting the fact that I chose to do these things out of pure selfishness. I can’t quote the Bible and I could never speak beautiful words of God like Jeff, but could you imagine if God made us to worship him by design without choice. There is no value in this and has no meaning, but imagine when we find the treasure of God in our hearts of our own free will. Could you imagine his tears of happiness when you realise he is beyond faith, God deserves more. I fear to even say the words I have faith in him because he has never failed me and faith is irrelevant. God says he has faith in me and I slag over everything and fail every single second of the day. I humbly beg the Angels in heaven to sing the most beautiful words in praise of the most absolute, real being that exists. There is only one war that exists and it creates everything else. The war that exists from the beginning, the war of Good against evil. Heaven will be attacked once more and your soul is the shield of God.
Why are you saying that you can't quote the Bible or speak beautiful words about God like Jeff? The Bible is available to you is it not? We can't always go by intuitions and follow our heart because the Bible says our hearts are desperately wicked. It also says there is a way that seems right to a man but the end of it is death. I like the spirit of much that you say and perhaps God is working in your heart but I would encourage you to study scripture. In it the gospel is revealed from Faith to Faith so you see it is about faith. The Apostle Paul said in Romans I am not ashamed of the Gospel for it is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes.
I love Jeff and his ministry, but the reason you have to have such a lesson, is because it militates against what the Bible actually and clearly says. "Choose this day..." who chooses? "Repent and believe...", who repents? who believes? "Call on the name..." Who calls? Further, and worse, predeterminism undermines, Justice and Righteousness, the foundations of the throne of God. So it's not that God has become unrighteous, but the predetermined have no foundation for justice and Righteousness, or mercy, grace, and all that results from that foundation. (much the way atheist don't)
God gives grace to who? (the humble) and resists who? (the proud) its not a mystery people.. He doesn't "randomly" choose.. the children of Israel were given for our example. read your old testament and STOP taking the NT out of context!!
You are simply saying that God commands people to do things, this in no way addresses whether God chooses them or not. How does God commanding people to do things address whether God chooses them or not?

+Logan Run God enables them to be humble ENables them. And when they do not resist that grace, their will is deemed 'good will'. And thus, they are: humble. It's simple. Not 'works salvation'. Works salvation is a derogatory term for works alone or something. The Bible teaches neither faith nor works are negligible for salvaiton, both are absolutely 100.0% necessary. works are meaningless without faith, and vice versa. But faith precedes works (for obvious reasons).
“I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”(Jer.17:10) ""Behold, I come quickly. My reward is with me, to repay to each man according to his work." (Rev.22:12)
I like your comment, karinjmeister, but I can think of no prouder person than Paul. He was the proudest, seeker-hostile man, yet he was chosen. I also think of the OT verse "if they would humble themselves and pray to me..." (talking of his own people, not the surrounding tribes -- interesting light bulb going off me me right now). Election is another deep/high way of God, as easy to explain and understand as the trinity. I believe it, not because it's easy to understand but because I read it everywhere in scripture. Man is culpable for his deeds and his rebellion against God, yet God chooses/calls whom he will ... and when the rich young ruler did not choose Jesus over his wealth, Jesus said, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Oh, how controversial - you think that the God of the Universe can actually do what He wants without waiting for man's approval? That is just crazy talk. My god always sends me a proposed schedule and lets me make notes for him before he does anything. Any God that is sovereign over creation just won't cut it in today's market. We need a god that meets the needs of man, certainly not one that would violate their desire to sin, changing their hearts, giving them new life against their will or anything like that.
Men have the desire to sin because God wanted them to, so this argument is bankrupt. If creatures only act according tp their nature, then logically Adam's nature was inclined towards sin. We are all damned via the Fall. Why? Because we all would done what Adam did. If we all would have done what Adam did, then his sin was inevitably determined, and we are thus all damned because God wanted us to be. That is definitely just and loving to damn billions of people for doing what you designed them to do.
Right,God bound both Jews and Gentiles in sin so that He alone could save them. Romans 11;For God has bound up all in disobedience, that He may show mercy to all. This is Paul speaking to the Gentiles about the Jews,ALL or all men means that Jesus died for ,not only the JEWS,but Gentiles too,but this doesn't mean every individual Jew and Gentile. It can be said by taking all of scripture together speaking on this subject, that Jesus died for MANY of all men.The people that Christ died for were written on His hand.Do you think that any of the names of those written on His hand will end up in Hell? No,His blood was the payment for every sin of every person that He died for and 100% of those will be with Him because of it .I was forgiven and saved by Christ at the cross, then 22 years ago God changed my heart so that I would believe it,and I would know what a great and wonderful thing my God had done for me long before I was ever born.He chose me,sent Christ to die for me and directed my steps my whole life through sin and tragedy to finally lead to the point where He brought me to Himself and changed my heart from being dead in sin,to alive in Christ, now He causes me daily to repent and believe and even when I'm faithless,He is faithful and this is how it is with all God's people.
@Tim: No, I don't think that anyone Christ died for will end up in Hell. I just think He only died for those conditionally elected, not unconditionally elected, because unconditional election has no basis whatsoever for man's responsibility.

Brother Durban you really have the true heavenly gift of teaching Gods word. Well done man!

Who has ears to hear?.....
Jhn 12: 39 ¶ Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
If Calvinism is true, then why did God have to harden them to prevent them from believing?
what you said is so shockingly unbiblical regarding the gospel of Jesus Christ that it is beyond absurd.
Throughout Scripture God has held man accountable for his own choices.

This is a wonderful sermon and this is of the caliber of many other great preachers of the Gospel of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.
You just made one thing so easy to understand. By God's blinding people, He gave them what they wanted. He knew that they would never accept or want salvation so why burden them. @@christusomnipotens3751 did God make you write that response? What aspect of life do we have free will in, if predestination is true?
@@drawingwithlight2397 "I'm not questioning whether God is sovereign, but what God's nature is in the scope of our choices during life." Well let's look at the scope of choices of other men then. Were the Jews able to accept Jesus of their own free choice? No;
"Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep."
John 10:25-26 ESV
Did Judas have a choice in betraying Jesus? No,
Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil."
John 6:70 ESV
Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve.
Luke 22:3 ESV
What of the death of Christ? The Son of God HAD to die. And those men HAD to persecute him and crucify him. For God predestined all of it, and it was the most evil event in all of history.
The end of this sermon is EXACTLY what I needed to hear. I believe, and I am not resting. Something IS wrong with what I believe. Thank you Jesus.
Such a beautiful message - He is so good😭 and this brought tears to my eyes because He chose me to reveal Himself 😭🙏🏼❤️
Amen. Same here.

God is not willing that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)
We have a free will. God tells us he has given us each a measure of faith (romans 12:3) and it’s up to us who we put that faith in. God does not send anybody to heaven or hell. He offers a way to escape to anyone who accepts his free gift. We must call upon him and put our faith in Christ alone.
Romans 12:3 is speaking of all members of the Church, not all people in general.
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
Romans 8:29-30
....just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
Ephesians 1:4-6
no such thing as free will that would contradict the bible where it says we are dead in our tress passes

Dear Jeff Durbin:
Why then are we rewarded, and for what?
“I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”(Jer.17:10) ""Behold, I come quickly. My reward is with me, to repay to each man according to his work." (Rev.22:12)
Calvinists like "bible, beer and tattoos pastor" Jeff have selective hearing when it comes to verses like that.
We don't do anything to earn the salvation of the Lord, however, we serve God through works, which we will be rewarded for.
Hearing Jeff preach on election makes me broken every single time. Praise God for the glory of His grace.
Thank you Lord Jesus
Blown Away, Amazing message, Thank you for explaining in away that it can be understood.
Does man have a choice? "If you repent, I will restore you." (Jer.15:19) "I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve." (Jer.17:10) Enough said!
Man's choice is always to sin.
On top of the overly childish way of discussion.
God our Saviour chooses His chosen ones: 1Cor1: 26-31 Eph1:4 Ph2:13 Ph1:6 1Th5:23,24 2Th2:13 Jam1:18
Thanks pastor for that message
There is no quality in being loved by someone who does not have a choice. Even the secular world understands true love:
"If you love somebody, set them free."
He has to choose us bc we would never choose Him.
lindsay parsons YOU SAID: “If God never reached out to us we would always wander in the opposite direction.”
REPLY: I agree 100%.
JOHN 16:7-9
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, HE WILL REPROVE THE WORLD OF SIN, AND OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND OF JUDGMENT:
9 OF SIN, BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE NOT ON ME;
God HAS in fact took that first step towards us in an effort to reconcile mankind back to Himself.
This is true love - Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

Truth
“Repent and believe the Gospel” is willingness (head knowledge) to want to turn from sin due to conviction caused by heating the Law and then God sees that and then grants repentance - ability to turn from sin - by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. That makes you for “all to come”. God is not a repeater of persons. Thank - God!
So basically you are saying it’s actually God’s fault that people won’t repent and obey Him?
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
Romans 8:29-30
....just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

From Wikipedia:
"Unconditional election" asserts that God has chosen from eternity those whom he will bring to himself not based on foreseen virtue, merit, or faith in those people; rather, his choice is unconditionally grounded in his mercy alone.
Hmm...
Yep.

Mario Alleckna,
You have excellent questions, That means you really think, not like most Christians
who just swallow everything what their pastors say....
We cannot answer everything in the bible, because the scribes who wrote the bible
did not explain everything, They just write what the Holy Spirit inspired them to write,
So our answer is more of a guess than bible facts....
Question 1. Whether Adam and Eve were programmed or not, I believe that God
intentionally wanted them to fall.... Why did God allowed Lucifer to be in the
garden where He should placed Adam and Eve? Why did God placed the tempting
tree when He knows that Adam and Eve will fall prey? Therefore God wanted that
Adam and Eve will fall and the whole world will experienced sufferings....
Now the next question could be: Why did God allowed sufferings when He can bring
us to heaven without sufferings, My best guess is: We will appreciate it more when
we are in heaven if we experienced sufferings....
Example: Suppose a child was born from a very rich and good parents, From birth
until he grow up, he have everything he wanted in life, he did not desire anything
that he did not get....
And another child was born from a very poor family.... He experienced lots of sufferings
until he grow up, hard works, lack of foods, cannot afford to buy even medicine when
he is sick, but later in his life he became very rich because he did everything he can to
get rich.....
Now, who of the two appreciate being rich in their later life? Of course the one who
suffered a lot.....
Question no.2 Although they were accountable, God Knows that It was His decision
for them to fall..... Both Adam and Eve are definitely Saved because they are the
True Children of God by Heredity.....
There sufferings on earth for a short time is nothing compared to the joy in heaven
for all eternity.....
Imagine a line from earth to the moon and think of it as eternity, Our life on earth is
just a tiny dot in that line, almost invisible.......
Question No. 3 Was satan programmed to turn evil, or did he choose to go against
God? This is the hardest question and I cannot answer it now.....
On one hand, If Satan choose to go against God, Why did God created him, when
God knows that Satan will rebel against Him....
On the other hand, It is written in Revelation that the devil and his angels will suffer
eternally in the lake of fire......
I cannot imagine a just and loving God will create someone and let him suffer
eternally in the lake of fire.....

Mario Alleckna Ephesians 6:6 we are either slaves to sin or slaves to Christ!
Human sentimentality and Enlightenment philosophy are no substitute for the word of God.
Did Joshua waste his time when asking the people to “choose you this day…?” (Josh.24)
True justice can only exist where there is the ability to choose.
@@Matt-ox2qc Did God then create us to sin?
This is such a great sermon! Well done!
What makes you think God will respect yours?<
God respected King Saul's will perfectly - He let him go astray. But as God is God and get what He wants, He didn't allow him to remain king. I'm confused as to what the relevance of that example is.
>You did not write your name down in the Book of Life - God did. God decides whether you make it into Heaven or not - you have nothing to do to influence that decision because the decision was already made "before you were formed" (Jeremiah 1:5).<
All Jeremiah 1:5 tells is us that God is omniscient, again something that no one denies.
"God respected King Saul's will perfectly - He let him go astray."
Nope.
"Why would God be interested in saving people who will never repent?"
I'd imagine that answer is somewhere in the concept of "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son" (John 3:16) It is in God's nature to be loving, but don't ever mistake that with the idea He owes us His love (or anything else for that matter).
"If man cannot repent, then God cannot hold him accountable for not repenting."
We purposefully aim to hold people accountable for their actions; whether they did wrong on purpose or not, whether they are repentant or not - you will be punished.
"How is man responsible to God if he has no ability to repent?"
Actions have consequences.
None of your reply even addresses the rest of what I said: >But as God is God and get what He wants, He didn't allow him to remain king. I'm confused as to what the relevance of that example is.<
Seriously, what does King Saul have to do with free will? Nobody believes God bends to man's whims.

Um...what? Do you think that insane people are morally culpable for committing crimes? They're not being punished, they're kept in custody to protect themselves as well as others. If they were made sane, by miracle or by medical help, they would be allowed to go free and live a normal life.
>Actions have consequences. It's a universal reality and the essence of justice. This doesn't answer the question at all.
But here you are, insisting that people screaming "repent and believe!" will make people repent and believe in God's sacrifice :/
"Do you think that insane people are morally culpable for committing crimes?"
No, they are not morally culpable but they are still responsible for their actions.

He asked, "is it ok to pray while I am sitting, or laying down or while I was in the middle of eating a meal or must I be kneeling in my prayer closet". The preacher replied, "Let me tell you about the best, most fervent, prayer I ever prayed. I was staying at a house that had no indoor plumbing but had a well outside and an outhouse. I was thirsty and needed a drink late at night while everybody else in the house was sleeping. I figured I would go out to the well and help myself. It was pitch black out, no moon or stars. but I knew where the well was so I proceeded. Right before I reached the well I stumbled on a rock and pitched forward, as I stumbled, I fell head first into the well and dropped into it about 7 feet before I abruptly stopped falling. @@a.gadfly9109 What point is there in creating people in such a way (before they were even born) that they can only choose "good" because the Creator created them that way? It is like saying to a tree, "choose if you wish to be a tree." It is a silly exercise! There is no question that we cannot save ourself. However, in the OT we find 17 uses of "free will." How do you explain the following Scriptures: Deuteronomy 11:26-28 (KJV) "Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
A blessing, IF ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, IF ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known." (The word "IF" clearly suggests that one has to choose!
From Wikipedia:
"Unconditional election" asserts that God has chosen from eternity those whom he will bring to himself not based on foreseen virtue, merit, or faith in those people; rather, his choice is unconditionally grounded in his mercy alone. God has chosen from eternity to extend mercy to those he has chosen and to withhold mercy from those not chosen. Those chosen receive salvation through Christ alone. Those not chosen receive the just wrath that is warranted for their sins against God."
You obviously have not looked at any Bible scholars (NO, I am not talking about myself!) who plainly, by using Scripture, show that Calvinistic Theology is flawed.

Let's look at the King James:
Matthew 11:27 KJV
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
First notice it does not say, "to whomsover the Son CHOOSES to reveal him, but WILL reveal him. You know that Jesus clearly stated in John chapter 3:
John 3:14-18 KJV
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: [15] That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Romans 10:13 KJV
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
But you say, but God predestined whom he would choose to be his elect. But the scripture must be read in its entirety to see who chose:
Ephesians 1:5-12 KJV
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, [6] To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
So you see, God, before the world began decided (predestinated) CHOSE, looking down through the corridor of time after creation, to save those who would trust in Christ.
.
Free will is ' the heart is wicked and deceitful above all things...' Free will is 'No one seeks after God, not one.' God's sovereignty is from John 6 etc etc, "ALL the Father has promised to give me will come to me."
So he had to look towards of time to see you would trust in him? That means he learned. Wow! And I thought God was omnipotent!
βούλομαι this Greek word means to will or purpose deliberately which is the same meaning as to choose.
Thanks 🙏
That’s an awesome message.
Amen.

If he knew for a fact what we would choose we would have no free choice; future decisions would be just as settled as past decisions.""
He wrote the book before Creation,so yes,He knows everything from beginning to end, because He imagined it all and He brings it to pass and right, there is no free choice,it's all decreed, but we have no idea what He has decreed until it comes to pass.God made two kinds of pots from the same clay, one fitted to destruction and one chosen for glory before hand, yet everyone is commanded to repent and believe and only those who Jesus died for, will. If men don't like this,Paul has an answer,''Who are you O man to talk back to God and tell Him that you don't like how He's made you",does the pot tell the potter how He should do things? Read all of Romans 9 for a hard truth.
Tim Ballentine God's word does not start or end in Roman 9...as all calvinist believe...you err much
traykunable in no way does Calvinism say that God approves of evil
FEELSonWHEELS you're an open theist

Truly Powerful and Well Recieved
Can you give me Scripture that says man has the power, in the flesh, to obey God?
P K your avoiding the issue, which means you see the problem. Justice presupposes freewill.
And why did God chose Israel, because they were humble?
This is beautiful
God gives grace to who? (the humble) and resists who? (the proud) its not a mystery people.. He doesn't "randomly" choose.. the children of Israel were given for our example. read your old testament and STOP taking the NT out of context!! #urkillingmesmalls
How does their humbleness come about?
You also make it into a works based salvation that way.
Thank you.
FEELSonWHEELS weird how people who make up their own version of God think they have a relationship with him.

Right,God bound both Jews and Gentiles in sin so that He alone could save them.

No,His blood was the payment for every sin of every person that He died for and 100% of those will be with Him because of it
.I was forgiven and saved by Christ at the cross, then 22 years ago God changed my heart so that I would believe it,and I would know what a great and wonderful thing my God had done for me long before I was ever born.He chose me,sent Christ to die for me and directed my steps my whole life through sin and tragedy to finally lead to the point where He brought me to Himself and changed my heart from being dead in sin,to alive in Christ, now He causes me daily to repent and believe and even when I'm faithless,He is faithful and this is how it is with all God's people.
@Tim: No, I don't think that anyone Christ died for will end up in Hell. I just think He only died for those conditionally elected, not unconditionally elected, because unconditional election has no basis whatsoever for man's responsibility.
