I was there - 5 days after college graduation from NIU with my girlfriend at the time, now my wife of 36 years. If I remember correctly, Weather Report, Spyra Gyra and Miles Davis all three played on this day - So cool to have seen Miles Davis at the Hollywood Bowl - .... and to think I wanted to go to the Baked Potato that night when our Uncle drove to the Hollywood Bowl and informed us that he had tickets for us all to see Miles Davis. Such a great memory - We named our second son Miles as a remembrance of this. Our son, Miles attended Temple University for jazz guitar and is now a jazz guitarist in the Philadelphia area. Thank you for posting this great memory
I was there that weekend. A lifetime dream to see Miles. Only $22 per day for box seats for the 2-day festival which included: Miles Davis, Mel Torme, Andrae Crouch, Al DiMeola, Art Blakey, George Howard, Rare Silk, Rob McConnell’s Boss Brass, Herbie Hancock with George Benson, B. B. King with guest Stevie Ray Vaughan, Nina Simone, Maynard Ferguson Orchestra, Kenny G, Azymuth with Flora Purim and Airto, David Murray, Honi Coles, and Juggernaut, Jazz Legends.

Synth's never got any better than this example. Amazing palette of colour, what a beautiful blend of instruments.
Miles still innovating and leading the pace for even pop groups like The Police and Talking Heads at the time.
This is exceptionally rare. I have 50+ hours of 80's Miles video and have never seen this one in particular. Handheld camera is even more rare making this only the second I have seen. This is the only complete set of a handheld source that I am aware of. This is quite a treat for the Miles completist! Thanks for this.
Don't be shy, can you post some?????
@@widescreennavel For the most part they are all available on youtube already That wasn't the case years ago when I was trading VHS tapes and DVDr's.
I saw Miles and Dexter Gordon at the Bowl in the late 80's. Was this the concert?
playboy festival?
yes
How did you find this gem?
'86... I don’t remember, long time ago...
