This is so awesome to have, as a reference point. I can't play a lot of that shit, but dammit I want to. And this vid shows me quickly what every beat/pattern is supposed to sound like, and I appreciate that. Now I'm gonna do a deep dive into different South American music and African music, just for fun.
Great work! I am more of a rock drummer but as a brazilian guy, the only advice I can make about samba it’s to search about “telecoteco”. It’s a fundamental thing for the rimshot patternn, the basic concept. You are doing great anyway. Cheers!
thanks for putting a name to it. i watched Edu Ribeiro's videos on samba, and i get why people want to play an easier rimshot pattern. the telecoteco is hard XD
@@Dyingwood. There is a great video about samba called “Como o samba era tocado antigamente- mestre Tata”. “How samba was played in the old times” .That’s pure brazilian gold. Cheers!
@@alexalja thanks man!! hard to find good resources. i mean i speak a little spanish, but Portugués is not my strong suit. looking forward to developing my skills there (on the drums, languages are brutal lol)
Hey man i was searching for latin inspired grooves after jamming with a beast drummer and i think the drummer in question is you (at justins place). If you give drum lessons id be interested in you teaching me!
Would've liked to see you improvise more with your left hand, to help your viewers understand that these patterns aren't set in stone but are the rough outlines that so many "Latin" percussive traditions revolve around.
Very impressed! Did not expect anything from this, right on.
This video should be wacthed more!! What a awesome grooves I was so impressed!

Killing man! Your playing is awesome to see too. I'm so bad at writing drum parts so this will be a great resource for me!
