This is exactly the video I needed to see as I'm considering doing the same for our soon-to-arrive 85" Samsung "The Frame" TV, which has a completely flat back. The "flush-to-wall" distances for all their mounts are about 5.4" when surface mounted and 1.75" when recessed using the $200 BB100 recess box.

This depends on your county's fire code. However most flus are must positioned at least 5" behind the wall, all of the MantelMount inset boxes will penetrate 3.5" less the thickness of the finished wall covering.
The metal brackets are included with the MantelMount. They are used to attach 2x4 to the vertical studs. We cut 2x4s to the proper length in order to install custom horizontal studs so that we could properly install the MantelMount enclosure.
