This was a great project. My local codes say no power cables can be routed through walls 😒. If I ever decide to do it anyway, and it catches fire, at least the evidence will burn up 🤷♂️
Ann Latham vinyl flooring also makes for a great (and cheap) accent wall. Plus it’s a good project to build up your skill with using it before tackling the floor.
Good job! I would have ran a data line as well ( Cat 6 or Cat 5e ) just in case you want a wired connection to the TV for streaming. I know that TV has wireless but wired is always better when possible. Thumbs up!
The "yawn/stretch/arm around shoulder" move was my go to back in high school. Great project, but I really just showed up to watch you climb through a tiny hole in your wall.
Love the project, did this myself last year only I have an actual fireplace with 3 inches behind the plaster and lath (house is circa 1916), and the adjacent wall only had 1.5" I also chose to run 3 hdmi, ethernet, optical and usb, even trickier, I put them all on wall plate. Plus I ran a dedicated power line for the tv, overkill I know. I spent a good 8 hours fishing all the wires but in the end it was all worth it. It looks amazing and my Partner is happy!!!
I have the same TV and maybe the same mount. I do have a serious surround sound with Denton and Martin Logan that rally makes it seem incredible. Oh, not to mention the Philips Hue lighting. Makes for a GREAT experience. Anyway, you’re gonna love the TV. I hope you’re able to up the audio and lighting experience too.
Just a tip for anyone else attempting this. Every fire place will have technical specifications of minimum distances for things like mantels or TVs and they must be followed exactly or you will be voiding your insurance if you happen to burn your house down. Nice video Brad 👍🏽
@@larrybrown7299 This video has a modern fire place Larry to which i am referring, I actually do this in the real world Larry. i also wasn't referring to your old fireplace Larry. Welcome to the real world Larry. I am also a firefighter Larry and so i see it from both sides. Hopefully you don't burn your house down Larry
@@LeeroyReading You're great at sarcasm, you must be a fun spouse. Unfortunately you're not so great at helping me follow your pie-in-the-sky fantasy advice.
Pretty decent for a diy. As a professional, we ALWAYS route wires through the attic or down to boxes. Hmdi wires should be at least 12” apart from romex to prevent distortion. Nice job
Brad, I thought I had a challenge hanging my TV. This makes my situation seem so much easier. Also gave me a few ideas on how to overcome wiring and stud challenges. Thanks.
Definitely what a man does to get a free TV from LG!!! Bro, there are easier ways to hide the cables than all that crazy hard work!!! Just keep simple ........
I've seen some of your videos and have never subscribed. I just subscribed to your channel because you shimmied into that small hole in the wall. I laughed out loud and told my wife to come look. I'm a handyman and have no footage to show my wife the craziness of my day. Well done!!!
Funny, I was thinking of getting that OLED tv but settled for the LG 43" recently! Very informative, my parents and I have been thinking when they buy a new tv again I want them to have their tv above the fireplace but my dad has some concerns about the heat of the fireplace (wood burning) and the tv
Love it. I have a similar project, challenge is I do not have built ins or where to snake the power from. Also, fab TV, thinking by now they should have those on great discounts
You need to put an RGB LED strip behind the TV!! I think it would accent the fireplace so much more too.. even just a dim white light around the back would look awesome. But either way, this looks amazing and you did a great job!!
awesome video, I have one question for you or someone reading this. If you would have to charge for this job? how much would it be approximately? given the amount of time, steps and tools involved?
Great job, Brad! Love the TV choice as well. Trouble is, I am way bigger than you and would never fit through the hole you cut out, but my wife said it would have been fun to watch me try. Thanks for sharing.
Really liked the video. Wondering if you considered a temporarily way to bring the TV down to eye height when watching TV. My issue TVs over fireplaces is you're looking up when watching. Your's isn't that bad because you have no mantel.
Look at Brad you ole sly dog you woof woof. The old yawn and reach move. Classic. Great video you learnt me some good info on this one. You should make a video with the behind the scenes deal. You make it looks so easy boss. Took me two hours to mount my TV
Well done. So I fhad a similar setup situation and followed you direction and have TV's on stone wall over fireplace... However, the heat of the fireplace seems to be too hot (I do not have a mantle. Have you experienced the same issue? What's best way to deflect heat?
The fireplace you have is actually a prefabricated fireplace with vented gas log system, which you would want to always burn with glass doors open. Closing the doors will not allow oxygen flow to the unit. Anyways interesting video and I'm curious on if the TV will hold up without having a mantel installed to deflect the heat.
I know the video is old but just in case you see this - how did the wiring hold up with the heat behind the wall? We’re looking to do something similar but wondering whether the wires can stand up to the heat. Thanks.
How would you rate this LG tv now ? I’m on the fence between a 55 vs a 65“ also LG vs Sony ? Over the fireplace, brick install some what same scenario as yours.
OK that was informative. I’m looking at a TCL 75 inch QLED on sale at Sam’s Club but it’s got a three year warranty. I’m hiring someone to do what you do question is do I need the HDMI cords running through the wall and what would be the reason for that please advise. Thank you.
Awesome! Nicely done and looks amazing! And by the way I want that TV as well now, so congrats to LG for the product placement at the same time. ;-) Keep up the good work, man!
We use drop anchors and then all thread coming out of the stone making sure its as perfect as possible elevation and plum and level. Then you can use nuts to set a flat base all the way around. So the mount in many cases, does not ever touch the wall . Very strong and very durable esp in real stone work and masonry thats thicker then 4”

What do you think about vinyl plank flooring? I am about to put it over concrete floors . Do you know much about it?
@@annlatham I have a video on it! ua-cam.com/video/6KEthELQfro/v-deo.html
Fix This Build That woohooo! Thank you very much!
Dude, so many good, funny moments in this build, especially the arm move at the end 🤣. Awesome work
Thanks, dude 😀
I don't plan on mounting anything on my fireplace, but boy this gave me some hidden storage ideas!
Mark Loveless what a waste of space! Everything is fake and cheap.
If you've got a similar setup there are definitely somethings you could do there!
Perhaps lure the Donald in with a trail of hamburgers.
Hidden storage ideas in this case probably means where he's going to hide the bodies
Good job! I would have ran a data line as well ( Cat 6 or Cat 5e ) just in case you want a wired connection to the TV for streaming. I know that TV has wireless but wired is always better when possible. Thumbs up!
Must be nice to be able to crawl/look behind the fireplace. But what about the other 99% of us?
That’s so unnecessary
I can't get behind mine
was about to post the same exact comment haha but so true i would need a chinese man to call
The "yawn/stretch/arm around shoulder" move was my go to back in high school. Great project, but I really just showed up to watch you climb through a tiny hole in your wall.
The hole climbing was by far the best part. Yawn move was a close second 😀
Sounds like you did a great job!
The picture frame mode is awesome.
Yeah, it's pretty sweet. And you can choose from tons of art and photos
I'm so happy to see that you actually tested the heat of the fireplace!
Great explanation on how to search and identify if blocking exists and what type of structure it may be.
Thanks!
Did a general search on how to mount electrical above a fireplace and look who showed up! Now I have all the info I need. Thanks and rock on Mr. R.
This guy is very smart , creative, and detailed orientated.
Shimmying through that hole reminded me of the Ace Ventura rhino scene lol. Great project and video Brad, smmooooth move too.
Put a 3x6 mantel over the fireplace made of cherry or walnut to deflect some of the heat.
We rarely use it, so we opted for lowest mounting we could get
I have the same TV and maybe the same mount.
I've got Hue in the room, just need some speakers to match 😀👍
Wow! What a thorough install video. And I really appreciate you vacuuming as you work. Nice work, thanks!
Wow brother!! You went above and beyond on this one! You did a great job and this one was a lot of work but well worth it! 👍🏼

Great info, didn't know that
My house is 50 years old, the builder is long since retired and dead. How am I going to discover those specs? Real world calling....

This is especially crucial when all you have is space for the flute. I don't have a side wall like this guy.
Hella cool. We just bought a house and we are installing a mount and this video is a great stepping stone for us
Brad, I thought I had a challenge hanging my TV. This makes my situation seem so much easier. Also gave me a few ideas on how to overcome wiring and stud challenges. Thanks.
How did it go?
Wow that's actually a boatload of precision work! Wonder ow much would it cost to hire someone to do that....
$2200 (I'm guessing)
Amazing you tested the temperature. My first impression was puting a TV over there is gonna catch fire for sure...
Wow the TV, wow the installation, wow the Shawshank Redemption move. Cool video Brad.
Thanks, JC!
Wow amazing work 👍👍👌
finally appeared. after all this time waiting for your tutorial video. greetings from Indonesia

You always have such great tips in your videos! Love the PVC channel idea for the wires! Much easier than running a line each time.
That was quite a project but totally worth it. Looks so good there.
Totally agree!
Yes, we love how it brings the family room together and a new focal point for family movie night
This was amazing! Such a professional job!!! I need to hire someone in Long Island because I dont think I can pull this off lol
Cool project Brad! I’m going to tackle a similar project later this year 👍🏻 But i doubt I’m climbing behind the wall 😬
Come on, go all in 😀
Did a similar mount. Wish this video was available back then
Yeah, I wish there was one out I could have seen as well!
Enjoy your videos Brad. I have used your designs for some of my garage storage
Beautiful TV. Great video, great job
I don't even have a fireplace and found this video still very informative! Awesome Job! (as usual)

Just saved me hours of head scratching and unknowns! thank you!! watching in 2022 aye!
Great job, hope you've put led colour change strips on back of TV for backlighting, it would look awesome shining against the natural stone.
I too love sneaking in and out tight places. Nice job and nice piece of technology. Cheers
Great job and great idea to test the heat before mount tv to the wall above fireplace 👍
Well done looks great . I had the idear of putting a TV on a chimney breast and where the fire would be to put the PlayStation and other bits .
Good work and the finished job looks good as well. Man, I like that LG TV a lot! Good video.

Great job , but I've had problems with every LG TV I've owned ! Hope yours holds up! Mine didn't last 4 years and I paid wayyy to much for it lol .

Love the static load test!

don't worry, this took me two days, lol
this was a great video! love the detail you went into
When you do your built in you may want to incorporate a removable panel so you can get back there again if you have issues. Nice work
Awesome job Brad! Nice TV too! 😃👍🏻👊🏻 .... I felt every bit right along with you as you crawled in and out of the wall! 😁

Great job! Quick question.. what was the size of your fireplace?
are there any you tube award honors? crawling through the wall has to be nominated for something.
Great job on the video. Very descriptive
NICE JOB!!! Coming from a retired electrician.
