Let me tell you, I’m so tired of working for people loosing time with my family, my kids, over the past year lawncare and landscaping was just a dream, 2024 here I come first year of Mitchell lawncare, and let me tell you I’m scared as no one can imagine but it feels right I’m excited and I feel more dedicated than I have ever been.
Man I love this. I wanted to have a business like yours all my childhood and teenage years but it wasn’t encouraged at my house. I worked 16 years in a factory then quit a year and a half ago to do woodworking and carpentry. My schedule is full of things that I do not want to do and I am looking at going back to what I originally wanted. Now that I’m 40 it almost seems impossible but your videos are encouraging. I live about an hour and a half north of you.
Same here just completed my 3rd season. I’m 44 years old. I worked construction for 15 years 13 of those years as a welder. I made great money but hated everyday of it. Finally at 35 I had had enough. Chased my dreams as a firefighter became full time paid and started a lawn care business that I had originally wanted to do out of high school. It’s never to later bro. Just do it!
It’s not too late, man! I turned 54 this year. I work in a bank and it’s stressful as hell. That’s why I’m quitting my job next year early and starting my lawn and gardening business. Let’s BOSS IT!!
Don't let age affect you. My previous boss still does landscaping during late spring to early fall seasons in North Dakota. He is 77, has had a hip replacement, and back surgery. We worked 5 hours shift 6 times a week. My last day at work before I moved out of the state I told him, don't stop working, once you do you'll decay quick. I love that man, working for him helped me finish college
Hey I’m also in Pittsburgh. Last year I started Mighty Green Lawns. We are an all electric lawncare and landscaping service. Hoping to network and expand the business this year.
Great video. I just got a push mower yesterday, looking at a weed trimmer and I am going to trade my car for a truck. I have to start small with some lawns in the evenings, but I am putting in the effort on UA-cam right now learning these little things that will ensure I’m off to a good start when I explode down the line. I have been a stay at home dad for a while and I have always wanted to give my wife the option to be home with the kids if she wants to. I love being home and it’s been such a blessing being with my family. I have never liked any job I have had, but I remember being 16 and mowing 2 lawns in the summers. I am hoping this can be a real blessing for me in the future. I think I have the values and honesty and pride in my work that I could be successful and do quality work and mowing could be a great fit. Keep hustling man! God bless =)
You been putting out some really good videos. Love watching things like this. Keep on putting out that good energy and you will continue to be blessed.
Software, I am old, and I remember the days you paid a one time fee for software and updates if you wanted them. I get the whole monthly fee thing but it's just crazy to spend a monthly fee on software which once established doesn't really change. Now if it tracked all accounting related items and actual does a tax return that's worth it. Just CRM should be a one time fee, account software I can see paying monthly for that. Just IMO, but if they really want to own the market, add all aspects of accounting. Still going to check it out and see if it does what I need, thanks for information about them. :)
LOVE this Mack! Such great advice! Great point as well, we are in the customer service industry, learning to manage expectations and delivering high end results is what will take us all far!
Love the videos you make just started a landscaping business definitely love the ideas you have I was stressing too much but saw this you’re right we have to do what we love !!!
@@mack_landscaping412 one of my customers I’ve had for almost over a year. It started out good at 1st then later on it was starting to stress me out. I don’t have a ton of customer, 99% really like my work, but that 1% really stressing me out. I would stay up late, trying to figure out how to do the job better. I was trying to wait until the end of the season to let that person go. ( if I was going to a restaurant with bad service or the food wasn’t good would I continue to keep going back, maybe one or two time, then after I would have to stop going) So today I fired her, I feel less stress. It was meant to see your video. Thanks for sharing. Thanks
Those are all lovely tips for a stress free business. I know we need to implement some of those. First video of yours that I watched and I subbed. Love the energy.
I do pay day of cut no problems yet but it’s about the trust and the communication that you have with each other I feel it works if you just take a minute and talk with your customers if they want to talk for a minute
hey Mack, you can add the term and conditions on the quote just go to settings/ branding / and pdf style and quotes do the contract disclaimer option! another thing you can easily do is check on iphone text replacement you can type terms and all that text will show up instead of copy and paste Go to Settings > General > Keyboard, then tap Text Replacement.
Really appreciate your videos man and I love your prepay model. I am requiring cards on file but have concern with charging the customer the processing fee… how do you handle that?
The card processing is just included in the price …ex: If your price is $50 and the card processing is $1.60 just make the price $52…that’s how I handle it 💯 Hope that helps🫡
I love your energy!! Keep it up buddy. And there are days 5 outta 7 ….🤣. I wish it was me and one guy in a truck again. Employees are more stress then it’s worth sometimes!!

What is the best way to find customers. Just a cut and trims jobs to start out?

I have always asked for pre-payment, and if the customer is with me for at least 6 months, if they run late (2 weeks paying me) no big deal. If someone walks up to me to take care of their yard, it's a pay upfront, no upfront no work. It's worked out great. Lost a few one time jobs but better to have that than do the work and not get paid.

Great idea. We get paid on the day of service for every service. We send out a invoice as soon as we have completed a service. Getting paid monthly....no, no, no. Brisbane, Australia
