@jboog7848 look at my short called “Monday funday”. I started in 2018 with 30 accounts, now I have 102 and I’m solo. I’m at $28,400 a month from maintenance, so I’m here to tell you you’re gonna crush that 100k….IF you want to. I will say, it’s become insanely stressful for me because I have to keep a strict schedule. Monday-Wednesday I have 68 accounts, 21 of them are small beach yards but it’s still a lot. I haven’t been able to find a balance, and this last summer was brutal. However, it was still better than dealing with guys expecting $25 an hour to use a weedeater with a bad attitude. Also, you can charge more because you’re the owner doing the work and you care. Hmu whenever man, I’m always around to talk.
one thing younger people won't understand until they have done this for years is how much vibration causes your soreness..... your arms neck and back is almost 100% entirely from the string trimmers....an elastic shoulder sling will remove alot of this stress on these areas of your body. great way to get tennis elbow & carpal tunnel at the same time. darwins grip saves on alot of this soreness pain as well and makes it easier to reach under and around pine trees and bushes
Awesome video I learn something every time I watch one. I own a small yard business in far Northern California and half my biz is spring and fall cleanups. Bought a used 6x10 dump bed trailer which saves so much time and labor. A tip I got from another landscaper is using tarps to load the leaves instead of wheelbarrows. I use 8x10 tarps and a good quality leaf rake, wind row the leaves lay the Tara out and rake the leaves onto the tarp tie one end and drag onto the trailer saves so much time and is much quicker this way. On average we haul 1,000 yards a year to green waste site. Keep up the good work Mack I love your videos
I’m at 28k a month solo, but it’s too stressful. 68 yards over three days was too much in the summer, I ran myself down. I’m at 101 over 5.5 days and it’s just a lot along with running the channel. Ironically, I grew up in Longwood where this is filmed. I went to lake Brantley high school, then UCF, then I worked or the Orlando Magic for a decade. Ricky, I miss it there, I’m in Jacksonville now. Glad to see you holding it down, love that area you live in.
20 yards a day is my limit period solo and that's make up days staying current as i can. i don't do more than 15 on a regular but i am geared for larger noncity lots and i take an hour lunch at the hottest part of the day. you need a helper, even if it's just part time at the end of your day with a high schooler looking to make some cash for 2-3 hours as long as they can meet you on site or a college student with just a morning or afternoon free 1-3 days a week there is enough of them just looking for grocery money...same
If you guys ever get into welding or blacksmithing you can use those old scrap blades to make some little swords or knives lol. Thanks for the vid and the time. Looking in starting up my business in the next few days! This is good inspiration
Lol I’ve thought about buying a lil welder to mess around with…now you got me thinking I should 😂😂😂 I’m happy to hear you enjoy and get some value from the videos💯🫡
I 100% agree! I didn't have this truck when I bought it and that's why I bought this one. The truck I had before I bought this trailer couldn't handle that much weight. A double axle trailer is next on the list now that I've got a stronger truck.
I keep seeing people talking about these Darwin’s grips, another banger by big Mack man. I had to bust up an oak tree yesterday and I was like damn I wish Piper and Mack showed up real quick lol
Starting my second business this spring, this time a lawn care business BlueGrass Lawncare here in Utah .Been watching lots of videos and you guys are amazing. Thank you for sharing. Keep it up. 👍 💪🏼
Awesome setup. As far as the Darwin Grip I fell for the hype and bought two for my trimmers. Tried to make myself like them for a couple of months. Hated the crap out of them from the beginning to the end, The screws stripped on the mounting brackets on both trying to keep them from slipping around on the shaft. They limit your reach in certain situations going under things to trim . no longer can you reach over in ditches with one hand because of the extra weight. Gave them to friend who had back problems. within a week are so he took them off and gave them back. now just taking up space in my shed
What's up brother? Good content. I'm in the business also in The Lehigh Valley area. My son's team was also down and the flag football tournaments. Small world.

I don't know the specs on them. It wasn't even what I has asked for originally. I wanted some springs because I had seen them on other trailers, they said they couldn't do that for this trailer but that they could this. When I walked out, I noticed they had them on multiple trailers, too. I paid $150 for it. I'm sure any trailer supply shop nearby could do it or something similar.
Hi, wanting to startup lawn buisiness hire someone. Any tips tho at finding a trustworthy smart worker? Think it would be tough these days. I guess have gd insurance and all their info.

Not sure if it would be the same where you live, but I can say with Indeed where I live in the last year I've used them has brought tons of applications but a lot of the guys have no call no showed and flat out just not check out. You have to pay for the applications too, fyi. Last month, we went through 260 applications, 18 qualified in paper. People, spend a little more on a good trailer. This guys trailer is rated to carry up to 2000 pounds. He is right at 2000 with his set up. He is maxed out day in and day out. Very unsafe with all the bumps in the road he is hitting on the road (greatly amplifying weight impact to that poor trailer). Just run a tandem 3.5 trailer.
He’s working on upgrading to an enclosed trailer…This is working for him and we all start somewhere…He knows the ratings/specs of his trailer and has a very tight route…It’s not like he’s speeding on the highway, he’s got a 1.5 mile service area and it’s all flat … thanks for your comment my friend 💯🫡
The idea is to get a bigger and more solid trailer. This is what I got before my other truck broke down. My other truck probably couldn't have handled a better trailer lol. The axle on this trailer is rated at 3500 pounds and like Mack said my radius is 1-5 radius. I also drive carefully. If I was over on weight, it's not by much. Both mowers are less than 1000 pounds. These trailers are very commonly used out here for this stuff and people beat the snot out of them. I appreciate the input🙏
@@rickyrodriguez6476hey I know this is alittle old and you’re upgrading. Yes you have a 3500lb axel but remember to factor in the weight of the trailer. Useful load is less.
You should switch to the shindawa trimmers really the grips are way more comfortable for all day use especially if your solo that hard pistol grip on those echo sux
He is solo…A lot of people say “we” naturally because they’re explaining how or why they do something in the business and not really describing themselves…1st time on camera too so it probably didn’t occur to him as it was happening … I think he actually did explain why he was saying “we” instead of “I” but it didn’t make the video
We're a family owned business. I bring my wife and kids out a few times a year to show them a thing or two. My wife is going on second year with me helping me with my website and socials. The idea is to build up a team this year. I'm getting the practice in now.
He's saying "we" alot, though. Is he saying that in general consideration of his wife, or does he habe occasional help or something? And 250 for a motorized chute blocker??? No brainer....might ditch the homemade stuff and add a couple of those to the setup this year.... and even get the fella who owns the brand to fab something for my 30, because even my 30 has a chute blocker 😂 Actually, so does my 22. OCDC all day. Ricky seems like a cool dude.
Yea, my route density is solid. My properties are within a 1-5 mile radius. I really don't have that many properties. I have 32. My landscaping goes further than that. The trick is NETWORKING AND SUBCONTRACTING! On the "we" its a habit to include my wife who helps in the background a little. This year she is taking on more. I've done most of it. Labor, scheduling, billing, emails and social media. She doesn't work in the field with me, maybe a few times a year. My landscape jobs I hire for the day. When we say solo it's I don't have any full-time employees. I don't even have part-time employees. I am currently trying to hire people to get myself out of the truck.
@@rickyrodriguez6476 only 32 lawns?? You're pricing must be astounding 🤣 So day labor is your ticket. Because I've been literally solo, and coming nowhere near that number. I'm definitely looking into bringing on one part timer this year. It's cool that you consider your wife so much. Plenty of married dudes are out there on youtube saying "I," "my" and "me" like they're all by themselves 🤷♂️
@grassmasher22 again, I do a tooooooonnnn of subcontracting. I network with a lot of companies around me. I have one company that does most of my tree work and the other sod prep, ground leveling, landscape, and hardscapes. I work hard to take care of everything outdoors for my clients and other people. I also do quite a bit of irrigation. I also use lead generating platforms to help sell the high ticket items.
I am curious what his profit margin/net profit? I see the gross income thrown about often. He has a 60k truck that he is financing.I'm thinking $1000 a month payments. He may be financing the mowers as well. Another $500 a month. How much advertising advertising and marketing is he doing? The profit margin for lawn care companies range from 5% to 20%. If he is solo I am guessing it is on the higher end, but the wild card is he is financing everything. Let's say it is 10% profit margin. He is only making $20,000 a year. I think you can make that at Mcdonalds.
With the right pricing, marketing, advertisements, and networking you can be very profitable. The last several years, I've been in the 50-55 percentile by design. I am getting to a place where I want to hire, which will then bring down a bit more. But if I continue what I am doing my profit margins will remain high. It's all about being a good salesman and setting hard boundaries. It's hard for sure. BUT it's not as hard as people make it seem.
I’m 41 homie…l’m not wrestling anyone anymore to have fun 😂😂😂 I’m gunna continue to throw flag football td passes …but you can do MMA for me bro if you don’t mind💯 😂😂🫡
From what I hear the grass slows down in the winter and they move to biweekly or even triweekly (i dunno if that’s a word or not😂) but they do work year round
5:00 i heard DAT, echo is the poor mans Stihl, just sayin...not a clap back attack, Good tools ain't cheap, and great tools are too damn expensive, there is a reason why stuff is priced CHEAP. the old single line .50mil trimmer bought in 1984 still runs because it's a Stihl 100+ trees on 2.5 acres a week. what you pay for today is speed not reliability, the 1980's hustle lead to disposable everything...even women are treated like cars now.
I don’t know. It would vary based on the person, their situation, and their market. Ricky lives in Florida so he can work 12 months someone in the north may only have 4-9 months depending on location if they don’t do snow …so its hard to say what someone could make
Solo here. Shooting for 100k in 2024 200k coming soon. Thanks for showing it’s possible.

For real! Best pants at the best price for me💪
People, spend a little more on a good trailer.
Always find “experts” in online comments
@@rickyrodriguez6476hey I know this is alittle old and you’re upgrading. Yes you have a 3500lb axel but remember to factor in the weight of the trailer. Useful load is less.
You should switch to the shindawa trimmers really the grips are way more comfortable for all day use especially if your solo that hard pistol grip on those echo sux
In the 1st minute you said "WE"? I thought it was solo?
He is solo…A lot of people say “we” naturally because they’re explaining how or why they do something in the business and not really describing themselves…1st time on camera too so it probably didn’t occur to him as it was happening … I think he actually did explain why he was saying “we” instead of “I” but it didn’t make the video
We're a family owned business. I bring my wife and kids out a few times a year to show them a thing or two. My wife is going on second year with me helping me with my website and socials. The idea is to build up a team this year. I'm getting the practice in now.
What’s go florida ❤

🤯🤯 200k He must have hella route density and excellent pricing, but still, I'm embarrased.
And a fresh trailer setup in January? 🔥 👊👊🏽👊🏻
You have 32 residential properties in monthly maintenance and are grossing 200k?
That’s a question you can ask him @rickysprolawnservice on Instagram💯
Truck and mowers are financed. My profit margins are right at 40%.
Love all the knowledge your giving out appreciate it but u said flag football y’all boys better toughen up get into mma or something

The contradictions😂😂😂
😂😂😂
I know... what a shame....🤣🤣🤣
Have Stihl and Echo I like better Echo great video Bro!!
Thanks buddy 💯🫡
Echo is the way to go!
so florida can cut grass all year pretty much?
From what I hear the grass slows down in the winter and they move to biweekly or even triweekly (i dunno if that’s a word or not😂) but they do work year round
Yea it's all year long over here. I go bi weekly in the dormant months.
@mack_landscaping412 there are some tri weekly guys out here 😆
Before or after taxes?
I dunno buddy
Before taxes
I wouldn’t be in this profession without Darwin’s grip. Went from most hated duty to favorite thing to do.
Game changer 4real💯🫡
Can use a trimmer without a Darwin’s grip
I love em too homeboy 💯
theft in lawn care is often a former employee than a complete stranger.

No he did not, this is a scam
Thanks for you’re opinion💯 Have a blessed day 🫡
😂😂😂😂
So without the “networking and subcontracting” how much can you make in a year with just the equipment on the trailer as a solo operator?..
I don’t know. It would vary based on the person, their situation, and their market. Ricky lives in Florida so he can work 12 months someone in the north may only have 4-9 months depending on location if they don’t do snow …so its hard to say what someone could make
