Perfect instructions! and perfect fridge. I didn’t think I will find a right find. Then I found you who is very clear and had the same fridge as mine. Many thanks!!!!
I followed your instructions in the video and my ice dispenser is working again. I don’t always try to do the DIY stuff, but I have now replaced the ice dispenser and the ice maker in my Kenmore Elite refrigerator that I have had since 2006. Approx. $250 in parts and 3 hours or so of work sure beats $2k or more for a new one when this one works fine! Thanks for posting the video!
Dude! ROCK SOLID video. I think I watched it twice....ordered the motor....and installation took less time than an DIY oil change. I checked the motor at the site you referenced and price was back up to $135.... but found it for 1/2 that on Amazon. Thank you!
Giving you Los Angeles street credit for this informative video. Without it I would not be chewing on crushed ice while giving you mad-props on how to install the replacement auger. Thank you, brother! 👍🇺🇸🙏🦅
Thank you for this terrific video!! We watched this and informed Sears of what we needed (and despite saying I needed the auger motor I received an incompatible ice bucket). Got the auger motor yesterday and installed it and now we are operational again. If you were here, I'd give ya a hug!!! ;)
Thank you for this video. I’ve been looking for how to fix my ice dispenser for sometime. After ordering my new auger, this video helped change it out in less than 30 minutes. So nice to have it working again. Thanks.
Excellent video...My Kenmore has an access cover inside the freezer, it was replaced under warranty around 1 yr of age... recently, I had to replace water valve and Ice Maker....
I had Sears come out and diagnose my problem of no ice being produced. So turns out the ice maker is bad. Estimate is $580 to replace a brand new $40 part found on Ebay and about 5-10 minutes to replace yourself. Did that and still no ice producing. Called Sears back out (free this time) to determine by jumping infrared sensor that it was bad. Back to Ebay for $15 parts. Replaced those in 5 minutes and began producing hella ice!!! I now seem to be having a problem with the ice chute door opening, it doesn't want to open therefore ice is getting backed up in chute causing a mess!!! Back to Ebay now to price parts for that. Great video tho!!! Really pays to do it yourself!!! As of now i am at $55 and 20 minutes of my time as opposed to $580 plus.
Good video. Thanks for making the time to do this. When using crushed ice, my entire dispenser panel shakes like it's going to pop off the door. Watching this gave me the courage to open it. Unfortunately, somehow the bracket (which you reused) that holds the motor into the door had ripped away from the actual dispenser cabinet. The two screw holes on the right side are both destroyed. At some point the auger must have bound up on some ice. To repair, I think I'd need the entire cabinet housing for the dispenser, which Sears says is discontinued. Looks like we'll only have cube ice until the fridge dies.
Thanks. As I put the dispenser back together, I determined at least an interim solution. If you look at the bracket that holds the motor, it actually has 3 screw holes on each side. Only two are normally in use. I remounted the bracket using just the unused center screw hole. It seems to be holding the motor in place fine for now.
@@RuckusMojo If you have any problems in the future just go to Sears Parts Direct just to get the actual original part #'s (not the replacement #'s). Then go to Ebay. They are so much cheaper!!!
Thank YOU ! Good job on the repair and the video ... My Kenmore in door ice dispenser just quit ! Motor runs but shaft don't turn so in my case I am sure it is a stripped gear in the motor unit . 73 Bob
Great video thank you!!! it works, but now i have another issue the dispenser door is not opening, so the ice get stock on the shoot, have you fix the ice door or have any tips, Much appreciate it.
Hi, excellent video, I have the same refrigerator and the auger motor is broken and the ice maker is acting up also. the refrigerator is 15 or 16 years old. not sure if I should bother sinking time and money in to it. Would appreciate your opinion. Is yours still running and what is age and manufactured date
IF it can be fixed for less than $100, fix it, if not buy a new one. We recently replaced ours, but it was still working, wife wanted different storage solutions.
In my case water had gotten into the motor and froze. Once I thawed it out and shook out the water it was fine. That rubber grommet was added after my model year to try to keep water from entering the motor through that shaft hole. I do not have it.
Great video! Before I go deep on mine, the ice cube dispensing door won't actuate open. Everything else works fine. The door when manually operated by hand has tension on it and springs back into place. Would I be correct in saying the door motor is bad?
Thank you for this video I have the same exact refrigerator and I’m having trouble with both dispensers (ice and water). Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Usually I have to push hard on a certain spot for it to work. Is the motor used to dispense both water and ice?
Great video. It made tackling this project like 20 minutes after watching yours a few time. Unfortunately the new auger did not fix. I hear nothing when I push the paddle. I saw the board connects the paddle wondering if this could be an issue? Although everything else on board works like light and water. Suggestions? Really want to solve this.
Great video, Thanks for posting . I have a refrigerator just like this one and it may sound ridiculous but I can not find the model number on it anywhere. I would appreciate it if you would post the model number of your refrigerator please. Thanks.
I have a Kenmore Coldspot, model #106.55606400. A few years ago, a battery fell off of the top of the refrigerator door, into the ice crusher. Since then, it still dispenses ice, but when trying crushed ice, the motor eventually stops and nothing actually crushes, except for maybe a couple of cubes, if I'm lucky. Any ideas as to what part I should get for a replacement?
I'm four years tardy catching this helpful video, but it is timely in 2021 as our vintage 1997 Kenmore ice maker dispenser is operating intermittently. It seems to require some coaxing to spit out the ice. Since the auger motor actually seems to function, it raises the question about some sort of switch issue. I didn't seen any kind of switch in the video, but suspect it has to do with the actuator. Can you comment on that possibility and how to address it, please? Thank you.
I had two repair service companies come out and neither could locate the refrigerator model number. The second guy suggested to try contacting you after I showed him your video. Thanks for responding
This helped us figure out that the motor was bad for the ice maker but we still had cold water and the ice machine was still making ice … today we have no ice and the water is no longer cold . Any idea why ?? Please help
Hi there, thank you so so so much for your video, it is exactly what I was looking for. I have one question though, how did you know that it was the auger motor exclusively and not the door dispensing motor as well? My door flap to the ice doesn't open and the auger motor isn't turning either, not sure if one needs to work for the other to work. Or do you think maybe I need both parts? There is a soft motor sound like something wants to happen but nothing does. I guess I can just order both parts and use what I need. Any help would be much appreciated.
DIY Home & Garden Projects Thank you! I ordered the auger motor (158.00 after tax and shipping 😳) and it will arrive on the 16th. The door dispenser motor wouldn’t arrive till August so I just decided to see if it’s just the Auger first and if it’s not, then I’ll order the second part. I really appreciate your help and I love your channel. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Weird because that rubber grommet hole is about 5/16" while the shaft is about 1/2". I just left mine out. Also, you don't have to remove the handle, the panel will remove and replace with the handle in place.
Great video, I have been looking for this for two days, all other video's were wrong refrigerator including repair clinic and others. Also can you tell what software you used to make this video and what camera. My Kenmore model # 106.56709500 is making a grinding noise sounds like my auger motor is working, I need to see something on the Ice bucket, it looked like it would be hard for the auger shaft to strip. Do you have any video on the Ice Bucket? Thanks in Advance
Hi. thank you for your video. I'm not sure what our problem is. The ice maker is making ice - that's not the problem. The problem is that the ice will not come out in the front. When I remove the ice bucket the bucket is full and the ice is stuck and frozen in the ice chute. What do you think the problem is?
Susie Tanczos, a lot of times ice is stuck together because air is getting into the ice bucket. My experience has been that the ice chute is not sealing the bottom part where the ice is dispensed into your glass. It’s a cheap part on line and easy to replace I recommend trying that. That repair took care of my ice clumping problem. Good luck.
Thanks for posting the video. I have same fridge. Unfortunately the auger rod is stuck in the motor. I have removed the casing above inside the freezer, but can't pull the rod out. I've sprayed a bit of WD-40 where the rod enters the motor. Any other suggestions on how to get it out? Thanks. Doug Leister
DOUG, It sounds like the rod is stuck to the motor housing. You may try and take the motor housing off and get it removed from the bottom. You can check Repair clinic.com, they have lots of helpful videos.
Great video! This was the first video I could find that was like the model we have. I think our actuator pads are starting to malfunction. Do you have any videos that show how to replace the actuator pads?

So I bought a used fridge from someone. An '04 Kenmore Elite model # 106.55619400 The ice maker was working before the move. He turned the ice maker button to "off". I let the fridge sit for a day before hooking up the line and plugging it back in. So everything thawed, I soaked out what water was left in the tray with paper towels. I get water in the front if the fridge, the freezer is cold enough and the red light is blinking twice and stays on solid when the door shut sensor is pushed, which means it's ok according to what I've read. So why won't it fill with water or turn now? Is there a trick I don't know besides turning the power button to "on"? Is there a special reset button or something? I can't find a video that answers this question or shows my exact fridge and ice maker. Please HELP!
My husband just replaced the ice maker and ice tray on our Samsung fridge. It has been working for 4 days. It is making ice but now when we try to get ice out of the front it will not do anything. The motor is not turning on. We are able to get water but not ice. What do you think could be wrong?
Melissa, Thanks for your question, but I am a DIY guy fixing the appliances in my home. I do not know anything about your Samsung. I suggest you try Repair clinic.com
Thanks for the video first off. Anyway you can share the part number for that specific Auger motor you replaced? I need the exact one and it would save me time.
Alrighty then, I'll search once more for the model on mine. Pulled it out last night and it was not labeled on the back. At least without pulling anything off. Thanks
The flap on the ice is not opening when i try to get some ice. It drop but the flap do not open. Do I need to replace the auger motor? Where do I order that parts. Thanks
Darius Mendoza if you hear the motor running and still turning the auger motor is good. Check to see if your door flap is frozen shut. You can buy parts at repair clinic.com
My flap is very loose and won't shut flush due to a lack of pressure. Nor will it open easily to release ice. Do I need a new flap henge? Is there a spring that has gone bad?
jennifer dupree, when the ice no longer comes out of the dispenser and you do not hear the motor running then there's a good deduction that you need to replace the auger motor.
Art Carlock, did you remember to plug back in the power switch to the auger motor. that was done at 9:50 on the video. if you did, my next suggestion is to check that your switch on the door is functioning correctly
Our Kenmore fridge has been making beeping tones lately. I noticed the icemaker was jammed. I seem to have fixed that. But not instead of beeping several tones, it just beeps long tone, then I hear a click, then the tone stops. Did yours make a tone before repair? Is there something I might need to do to clear the computer from thinking the problem still exists?
My Kenmore Elite 795 ice maker will not dispense ice the motor and auger run behind the ice bucket for a short time and build up cubes and ice shavings under the bucket and then stops nothing comes out the door into the glass... why
Alfred that happened to me too, but my issue was that there was air getting into the ice bucket from ice dispenser opening and that would clump up my ice which prevented it from dispensing. All I did was replace the ice chute cover it’s a black square shaped piece about size 4”x4” and issue was resolved now I have ice dispensing. That was my issue and solution you should inspect for your Problem before buying parts so you don’t waste your money good luck.

How can I turn the light off of the water and ice dispenser?
I cant answer your question. I only own a fridge, I am not a repairman, I only solve DIY task when needed.
Thanks for the video first off. Anyway you can share the part number for that specific Auger motor you replaced? I need the exact one and it would save me time.
Go to this site www.repairclinic.com/?affSource=cj
type in your fridge model and auger motor, that's it.
Thanks
My flap is very loose and won't shut flush due to a lack of pressure. Nor will it open easily to release ice. Do I need a new flap henge? Is there a spring that has gone bad?

@@jh8338 I ended up replacing the motor and that did the trick!
what process did you go through to come to the repair needed conclusion?
jennifer dupree, when the ice no longer comes out of the dispenser and you do not hear the motor running then there's a good deduction that you need to replace the auger motor.
jennifer dupree i
where can I purchase the front panel replacement?
Michelle, try Repairclinic.com
Michelle I bought my parts at Repair Clinic.com, here is the link, www.repairclinic.com/Promotion/I-Can-Fix-This-Myself
Ice maker is producing ice, but when I hit dispense button, it hums, but does not turn the auger. The ice chute DOES open, but just a hum.
That’s it you you need to replace the auger motor.
Replaced the auger motor and still nothing. Not a sound from the motor.
Art Carlock, did you remember to plug back in the power switch to the auger motor. that was done at 9:50 on the video. if you did, my next suggestion is to check that your switch on the door is functioning correctly
@@DIYHGP check wire harness at bottom of door for broken wires.
My motor is working is just no ice being made
Bad icemaker or icemaker control boards, more than likely.
Daniel Miles my fridge made no noise prior to going out. the only noise and was that of the auger motor motor attempting to turn.
I followed your video but I ended up with a spring leftover and I'm not sure where it goes.
ISSAC, I SUGGEST that you look up your fridge brand and get the manual with the exploded view of all parts, or try www.repairclinic.com
My Kenmore Elite 795 ice maker will not dispense ice the motor and auger run behind the ice bucket for a short time and build up cubes and ice shavings under the bucket and then stops nothing comes out the door into the glass... why
Alfred, try going to Repairclininc.com. It can help to define your issue
