The underpass has been there since the 60s! In fact the Lagusnilad underpass is the first underpass in the Philippines and in Asia. It was just recently renovated that's why it looks new. Manila's current design is part of Daniel Burnham's Plan which was designed in 1905 so if you really envision Manila, it was supposed to be an extremely walkable city.
I think Burnham's Plan was actually going to be implemented in Luneta Park. they already started the renovation around the Lapu-Lapu statue and they're going to call it "National Museum Complex"

Yes I do agree that Manila is "walkable" but at the same time you need to be careful because there are dangerous parts. Lived and studied there for a few years, best that you'll be alert and assertive. Good thing you have your crew with you, because if a fan does this or even if you did this alone, again this is dangerous. Example of the dangerous route that you took was at the time stamp 11:30-11: 40. No street lights, nothing. ALWAYS WALK WHERE YOU CAN BE SEEN. If possible you could have crossed the road where there were lights. Just always stay safe and alert while walking on the streets of Manila.
I love how Jessica enjoys every challenge, whether it is hard or easy. But I can see that she's really happy travelling all around the Philippines. And I must say, as a Fanboy, that she still really has that K-Idol vibe in her. She's so cute. 🥰

I really love walking, but in the cities in the Philippines, cars are given more priority than people. The sidewalks/footbridges aren't PWD-friendly too. There is also a high chance of being robbed if you are not careful with your belongings. That's why I envy South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan because their cities are actually walkable/commuter friendly. Commuter naman sana sa susunod ang prioridad, Pilipinas. :(

Such a brave girl, Jessica! But politics aside, Yorme Isko Moreno did really a great job in "cleaning" Manila. I used to live in Manila in the 80s and pass through Quiapo, Jones Bridge, and MacArthur Bridge. Those areas were then very dirty and smelly! And it's also full of holdapers and pimps!

How old is your map printed on paper that's the real question. But don't worry about because even Google maps is not updated with correct information everywhere in Manila. I know some areas where you can be lost easily even with Google and GPS.😂 Addresses in rural areas are even more confusing for most Europeans. Missing or non existing street names,numbers. 😂 I think the postal service sucks there with deliveries. No wonder that SMS and other messaging services are so loved by the pinoy's.
