Dr. Ludlow demonstrates a quick and easy way to get rid of vertigo!
AJ here with Stronglife Physiotherapy. Does the room spin when you roll over or get out of bed? Or maybe when you tilt your head or look up or down? This is likely caused by a specific type of vertigo call BPPV which accounts of about 80% of all vertigo cases. BPPV can cause lots of problems: Dizziness, nausea, vomiting, injuries from falls. Fortunately there is a quick and easy way to fix your vertigo! And the best part is that you can do it yourself!
Now, keep in mind this only works for one specific type of vertigo, BPPV, which is caused by free floating particles inside the inner ear which create a sensation of spinning when they move. If your symptoms are different than the ones I have described or the spinning lasts longer than 1 or 2 minutes you probably have a different type of vertigo.
Half Somersault Maneuver, created by Carol Foster, MD.
Start in a kneeling position. tip your head straight up and look at the ceiling. Hold this position for a few seconds. You'll probably start to feel some spinning and that's OK.
Then put your head completely upside down tucking your chin in a little. Your head shouldn't be completely vertical. It should be tucked under slightly towards your knees. In this position turn your head toward your right elbow to treat the right side or the left elbow to treat the L side. You're going to feel some spinning if you're treating the correct side. Wait for the spinning to stop or at least a count of 30 seconds.
Then quickly raise your head to be level with your back keeping your head in the turned position. Hold this position until the spinning stops.
Now quickly return to the upright kneeling position keeping your head turned and hold for 30 seconds.
Sometimes once is enough to completely cure your vertigo symptoms. For some people it will take several times performing the maneuver to get the desired outcome. If you still have symptoms wait for about 15 minutes for the inner ear to settle down and repeat the process.
Please share this video with someone you know who is suffering from vertigo so that they can learn how to help themselves get better.
Thank you for watching! Please subscribe! Have a great day, and stay strong!

I had been suffering from Vertigo for over a week. Could not lay down to sleep, could not drive, and was missing work. I woke up at 3 am last night frustrated from not sleeping well and found you on UA-cam. I tried your maneuvers and all dizziness was gone. I went back to bed and slept like a baby and woke up with zero dizziness. Thank you so much for this video and information.

I have been suffering from vertigo for 7 years. 😢 I just did this exercise after experiencing severe vertigo for the past 3 days. It worked the first time I did this exercise!!! Completely gone!!! Thank you so much for this video. It means a lot that someone cares and the doctors only prescribe motion sickness pills and basically say "hey you're on your own." You are a blessing from God. Thank you so much.

I really hope you guys are also cured, I've been suffering for a while week. The first 2 days were severe but sometimes i feel spinning but not severely. Wherever i try to realize my neck i feel a sudden hit but it lasts only sabot 30-60 seconds. I want to ask the doctor since I've been listening to your descriptions I'm sure it's BPPV and not cervical vertigo. I will do this exercises. I'm following all the treatments all physical therapist doctors have shown in UA-cam.

Absolute genius! I was actually terrified of my BPPV and always worried going to bed, wondering if this will be the night where it comes back. Then my worse fear once again came back one morning. I panicked, nearly to the point of having a full blown panic attack. So I composed myself, went on UA-cam and found this video. I was worried about the manoeuvre inducing dizziness, but I figured that I was already feeling dizzy so what's the difference.
    Here's what I did:
    1) My BPPV is on the left side, so did the above video but turned my head to the left. Even though each move brought on the vertigo, I remained calm and just waited for the 'wave' to pass over me. I was very scared it wouldn't, but it did, exactly like it was explained in the video - that's how you know that you truly have BPPV - the moves induce vertigo, but 'it passes'. After completing the moves, I immediately noticed a marked improvement, I could stand up without feeling the full vertigo. But I could still a little a little when I turned my head.
    2) I sat down with my back and head straight and waited for 15 minutes.
    3) I repeated the moves and again, it induced vertigo - but this time only a little vertigo. Waited for the vertigo to pass after each move and when I sat up - wow - big big differnece - not even a little sensation of spinning when I turned my head.
    4) For the rest of the day I was careful not to look up or down or bend over to pick up something etc. If I had to turn my head I did it slowly.
    5) My balance did feel slightly strange for the rest of the day but no vertigo whatsoever. Went to sleep that night with my head reclined using 2 pillows - one was a wedge pillow I bought off Amazon.
So if like me you totally panic when your BVVP comes back and are terrified to do the moves in the video because it will induce vertigo, just remember that the Vertigo passes over you like a wave. Yes it feels unpleasant and scary, but be brave, hold on tight and LET IT PASS you - trust me it will pass within under a minute - don't try to fight it as this causes you to panic and panic makes anything feel 100 time worse than it actually is.
I am no longer terrified of my BPPV coming back because no I know exactly what to do when it does and I know that I can instantly fix it without the need for medication or a trip to the doctor.
Be brave everyone - let it pass you because it WILL pass you - I promise!
    Thank you Dr. Ludlow

Wow your comment made me feel more at Ease, I get in pure panic mode when it “comes back” sleep with a night light just in fear it will return. Hi @@Crodriguez1710 - I felt exactly the same. Every night I went to bed I was worried that 'this would be the night it comes back'. But after watching this video and practicing the technique, I was ready for when it came back, which it did one morning when I woke up. So I took a deep breath, I said to myself I already feel the spins anyway, so I may as well do the exercise, I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
      So like in the video
      1) Head straight up - wait for the spins to stop (Don't be scared, they really do stop)
      2) Head Upside down - wait for the spins to stop
      3) Turn your head to the affected side, in my case, it's the left - wait for the spins to stop
      4) Raise your head with your head still turned - you start to feel less spins - wait for the spins to stop
      5) Return to the upright position with your head turned - at this point, the worst of the spins for me had stopped.
That's it - the spins had stopped for me. I wanted to do it again just to make sure, so I waited for 15 minutes and repeated the process. The second time, there was only a few little spins and I felt great after.
For the rest of the day, my balance did feel a little bit strange, but NO spins!! Also be careful not to look down or bend down to pick up something etc. as this may cause a little bit of spinning, because although you have put the little crystals back into the right place, they have not yet been absorbed back into the inner ear, but this usually happens after 24 hours!
Be strong & face your fear - it really does work and it's a great feeling not being scared to go to bed and worrying about it 👍🏼

I was concerned about trying this because of the motion sickness that hits me when the spinning starts!! So I suffered with vertigo symptoms for almost two weeks!! The longest I’ve ever had to deal with it!! But I realized that if I found something to focus my eyes on, (I mean really lock on it), I could control the spinning and it would subside quickly!! That gave me the confidence to try this!!! I’m so glad that I did, because it worked the very first time, as opposed to days of multiple maneuvers!!! Thank you so much for posting this!!! It’s amazingly effective!!!
