I applied this a couple months ago to the winter wheels on my wife's X5. My application experience was similar. Super easy to apply, the 5 minute working time (in controlled conditions) was more than enough to apply to the entire face and then start the wipe off. There was very little coating left to level, and I didn't have any issues with high spots. So far I've only had a chance to wash the car once, and there was no need for a dedicated wheel cleaner or APC. The vast majority of heavy salt, winter road grime and brake dust buildup was easily removed with a pressure washer due to the self cleaning characteristics of the coating. I only had to follow up with P&S Absolute for the contact wash. Diamond ProTech coatings may not give a super slick feel when the surfaces are clean and dry, but it definitely feels slick while washing/drying...which is really all that matters to me. I got 4 winter seasons out of Optimum Gloss Coat on these same wheels. That is generally considered a two year coating...so I expect to get at least 2 winters from this coating. Apparently this coating can be easily applied over itself when it needs to be renewed, so I should only need to do a thorough decon instead of needing to polish what remains of the old coating.
Thanks for the feedback on using this coating. I personally don’t use wheel cleaners once I have applied to a coating. On occasion I will do a decon but that’s about it.
This didn't work that well for me. It beads but it's not slick and doesn't seem to resist any brake dust or make it much easier to clean. I still had to resort to wheel cleaners and that seems to have weakened it significantly within 8 months. It was easy to apply though.
It is not the most hydrophobic coating in comparison to others. Just get armour detail supply wheel coating and use code THANKYOU10 for 10% off. It is by far better than this. When i get time I am removing this diamond wheel coating.
@@MikeGDetailing I think I'll give it a try on one of my sets, looks really good. BTW, how is CanCoat Evo on wheels, do you think it's durable enough to be worth using?
@@MikeGDetailing just wanted to chime in and 2nd this suggestion. I have the flexible shaft for the PXE-80. Its really nice and has its place, but its not getting completely down into all the corners and crevices of a wheel unless you shave down a pad (which are currently proprietary and not cheap). I just got done polishing 2 full sets of 20" wheels and I still hand to get in and hand polish some areas. I think I'd rather have the APS adapter and the smaller/cheaper polishing cones for either the iBrid Nano and/or the PXE-80.
Only benefit is even coverage. If you feel you did not apply it evenly then come back with a second layer. Also this coating take about 2 weeks to fully cure and show any signs of beading
Hey Mike, do you know where I can buy the 22ple wheel coating that’s your favorite? I searched a couple weeks and couldn’t find it. I’m trying to decide on a wheel coating, my wheels will have a matte/satin finish. The new 24 Mustang GT Performance Pack wheels
Good luck trying to get it. Detailed Image is the only place that stocked it and they have not stocked it in quite some time. Give Armour Detail Supply Wheel Coating a try. I have a video of it on the channel. THANKYOU10 will save you 10% off
@@MikeGDetailing yeah I was on their site and saw it was out of stock but had ETA of 8/24, so I’m going to keep an eye out for it. I was thinking CarPro DLUX or just using the coating I choose. Which will either be DuraSlic Xtreme Holy Grail or Adams Advanced Graphene; I had the Adams on my 2019 mustang and it was amazing. It makes it hard to go another route lol. I’ll check out your new video too! Thanks man

Hi Mike, get APS adapter + polishing cones for rupes ibrid . They are perfect for alloy spokes
Thanks. I need to get something for those areas. I will look into these you mentioned.

MIKE what was that wheel coating that lasted three year?
22ple VM1. Have not found anything that has performed as well.
Is there any benefit to doing two coats?
Only benefit is even coverage. If you feel you did not apply it evenly then come back with a second layer. Also this coating take about 2 weeks to fully cure and show any signs of beading
What are your thoughts of the coating so far?
Seems ok so far. It won't certainly replace my top coating 22ple VM1 as long as that is available. But this is a good option.

That will also work with the same paint coating you use.
Great video as always Mike.
Thanks. Much appreciated.
