Appreciate you revisiting this one as I almost forgot DPT existed. What's your thought on interior specific coatings vs exterior trim coatings used on faded interior plastics?
An exterior coating will work fine on interior plastics. Technically it can last for the life of the car. But they would be limited to just plastic. An interior coating like DPT and DIY can be applied to multiple surfaces.
Hey Franko, the wheel coating is stout and super simple to apply (practically nothing left to level). I've had it on the faces of my current wheels (an extra set of 18s that I'm using up the rubber on before I buy new tires for my 20s) for just over a year now. Half of the face has Diamond Wheel, the other half has ADS Wheel (two coats each) and the performance is so far indistinguishable between them. Time will tell on which one gives out first (or if the tires do). I may have to start washing them more aggressively with stronger chemicals to crown a winner on that set. On my wife's winter wheels, two have ADS and two have DPT. They only got washed once in the 6'ish months they were on and both were showing signs of clogging from the road salt (DPT SLIGHTLY more clogged) but both of them benefitted greatly from DIY Water Spot Remover and performed like new again. On price and ease of install I would give the nod to DPT, though ADS is a close second. I'm curious to see which will last longer, the "lighter" and more flexible DPT, or the thicker old school ADS coating. I do think the DPT coatings benefit from a longer cure time before washing (but honestly I always recommend waiting a month on any coating just to be safe).
I've never tried the interior or leather coating, but I might have to give it a shot. Looks great. I'm still a big fan of the exterior coatings. Gloss, self cleaning and chemical resistance are great after one year with no toppers. I'm very interested to see how their maintenance line works, but what I've been using (rinseless washes, Koch Chemie Active Foam, Oberk APS, BH Touch-Less, Koch Chemie Reactivation Shampoo and DIY Water Spot Remover) have been working very well too. I do wish the speed break was a little lower on the glass coating (it is great at highway speeds), and my wife killed hers in about 6 months. I manage my wipers much better so mine is still working well at 12 months. I'm going to polish off whatever remains on her windshield and do a 3 way comparison between C6 Hydro Glass, CCI Glass and ADS Glass V2. I'll do the same to mine so it will be a good durability comparison between managed wipers and unmanaged.
@@jeffc6832 I agree DPT glass coating does need some tweaks to be better in that aspect. I also would like to see their cute time accelerated as the paint coatings rather than waiting two weeks to wash. I would also like to see DB36 be more hydrophobic. It gives me CSL vibes which I was not a fan of.
@@MikeGDetailing agreed on CSL vibes, they're pretty similar on water behavior but I think DB36 has it beat on chemical and road salt resistance. It clogs up like anything else but it seems to really like and respond well to DIY WSR. GTechniq just doesn't fare as well up in our parts (though I haven't tried EXO V5 yet) and I like the single layer aspect of DPT. I always tell people to wait a month to wash, regardless of coating. There's just so many factors based on weather and how people wash. I did get some bird bombs within that first month of coating mine, I just went after it with rinseless and didn't have any issues. I really wouldn't hesitate to do a gentle polymer rinseless wash after 7 days on any DPT coating.
Thank you both for your detailed feedback! Content regarding our maintenance line is on the way! Also one pro-tip with Diamond Glass incase you have not tried yet: Apply 2 layers for maximum hydrophobics & wiper resistance! Regarding DB 36's hydrophobics, our updated formula is more hydrophobic, however, we still recommend topping it with Quick Body for maximum hydrophobics. Alternatively, our Diamond Body coating is a great option for maximum hydrophobics!
@@victoryensured7137 I used it a long time ago. I agree it works very well and leaves the interior with the factory appearance. I enjoyed it when I used it.

I have used DIY. It is a good product. DIY will go on clear and not alter the look of the surface like Diamond Interior does. So if you want to keep the interior looking OEM then DIY would be the choice.

yo mike g! i completely forgot i have protech wheel kit that i got in a trc mystery box till i saw this 😜🐿️💨
@@FrankoDetails it’s not a bad coating. It does like two weeks for it to cure and show signs of beading just in case you use it.

Wouldn't it be possible to use an exterior spray sealant over perl to achieve similar results?
Sure you could do that. You will just need two products to achieve something similar.

How does it hold up on dust ?
