- Football's Greatest was a TV series that started on the June 10, 2010 and finished on July 11, 2010 on Sky Sports for the World Cup. There were 26 shows in total all narrated by Richard Keys, 25 featuring one footballer for each show.
Sir Robert "Bobby" Charlton CBE (born 11 October 1937) is an English former football player, regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time, and an essential member of the England team who won the World Cup and also won the Ballon d'Or for European Footballer of the Year in 1966. He played almost all of his club football at Manchester United, where he became renowned for his attacking instincts and passing abilities from midfield and his ferocious long-range shot. He was also well known for his fitness and stamina. His elder brother Jack, who was also in the World Cup-winning team, is a former defender for Leeds United and international manager.
Born in Ashington, Northumberland, Charlton made his debut for the Manchester United first-team in 1956, and over the next two seasons gained a regular place in the team, during which time he survived the Munich air disaster of 1958 after being rescued by Harry Gregg. After helping United to win the Football League in 1965, he won a World Cup medal with England in 1966 and another Football League title with United the following year. In 1968, he captained the Manchester United team that won the European Cup, scoring two goals in the final to help his team be the first English side to win the competition. He has scored more goals for England and United than any other player. Charlton held the record for most appearances for Manchester United (758),[1] before being surpassed by Ryan Giggs.
He was selected for four World Cups (1958, 1962, 1966, and 1970), and helped England to win the competition in 1966. At the time of his retirement from the England team in 1970, he was the nation's most capped player, having turned out 106 times at the highest level. This record has since been eclipsed by Bobby Moore, Peter Shilton and then David Beckham.
He left Manchester United to become manager of Preston North End for the 1973--74 season.[2] He changed to player-manager the following season. He next accepted a post as a director with Wigan Athletic, then became a member of Manchester United's board of directors in 1984[3] and remains one as of May 2013. - Спорт
Had to watch this in honor of the great. RIP Legend 🙏
Rest in peace Sir Bobby
As comfortable on the ball as any Brazilian,
As ferocious a shot with both feet as any striker,
As brave as any German,
As humble a gentleman as we will find.
Fit as an athlete with his explosive pace.
Strength to go with this to.
He kept possession very well.
Medals to show too.
Easily the best british player ever.
For me..... One of the best 4/5 players ever.
Respect to him from a Liverpool fan. But he wasn't even the best United player back in the day. Not to mention that you have Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo, Cruyff, Zidane, Messi, Puskas, Cristiano, Garrincha to name a few above him.
Very well articulated mate.I cant add anything exept to say i agree. He was a genius
@@ivaylospasov7812 Duncan Edwards was better than them all at 18 years old
@@marcmaddock9980 tragic end to his story though
@@ivaylospasov7812oh sod off. Much better player than any Liverpool has ever had.
Sir Bobby Charlton, simply England's GOAT
Simply the greatest musical and visual montage to open a football program ever. And there’s some good ones throughout the history of football on the tube, to be fair. But this one i have watched dozens of times and i never get tired of seeing it lol
Gillette World Cup Special Italia 90 The Best.
The Greatest of all time for me.
I met him in Chicago in 2005 for the Man United tour. Chatted for about 15 mins in the hotel lobby, great man.
Rest in peace Sir Bobby. One of the greatest footballers of all time.
The crash survivor, Sir Bobby, gave up 😢😢😢 ... rest in peace 🙏
Dont think there is any player that has been through the hard ships Sir Bobby Charlton has been through and still succeeded the way he did.
Maybe not the greatest of all time!
...if you would ask him....? He wouldn`t care fpr sur!
...but maybe the greatest (n maybe the smartest) Gent and ambassador for this sport!
A real Sir! Greets from Austria!
The soul and the conscience of Manchester United. God bless you Bobby, God bless

If Ferguson says hes the greatest of all time , its true. I remember 10 years ago id got so fed up of listening to my Dad argue who was the greatest , Pele or Charlton , I had to get away . I sailed down to Antarctica to find the remotest place on Earth . I set up camp next to a large colony of Penguins and was so ready for 2 months of not hearing the debate any more . I stuck my head out of the tent and shouted as loud as I could ," now try telling me whos the best footballer ever " ,I slumped back into the tent when I heard the roar of 2000 penguins shouting "Charlton of course" . A true story ?
🤣🤣🤣
A shite story
this was really emotional
+Muhammad Imtiaz charlton saying: "we went to extra time and they collapsed, benfica collapsed in extra time" referes to the 1967 european cup final.
@@Alex-eh5wr 1968 I think you mean.

If the accident didn't happen maybe real Madrid will never win 5th time in a row in 1950s

Rooney tied his record January 7th 2017
7juaninho7 Rooney broke it
Ryon Fagon Rooney played in a different era. A different ball, different pitches and much harder. He played most of his career on both flanks, in those days left and right wing. The rest of the time in midfield. He was never a striker like Rooney. Mr Rooney was ok but Charlton was different class and world class at that. Rooney never was
@@thejigantics2641 Rooney was most definitely world class for a number of years. Charlton is still in a different dimension, though.

Nothing will ever compare to the history of Man United?Madrid and Barcelona are bigger and have more trophies than United
so and?
It's fun that you can tell just from your comment that you definitely aren't a real football fan... I don't acknowledge any corrupt titel real madrid or Barcelona may have won... also this is the fucking English league, a league in which everyone can win... is it really that hard to show some respect for one of the biggest legends in this sport?
Madrid is the most successful football club in the world and the most successful basketball club in Europe, more national and european titles than any other club
Barcelona is one of the greatest football clubs in the world, the greatest mens handball club in the world, one of the greatest mens basketball clubs in Spain and Europe, one of the greatest futsal clubs in the world, one of the greatest beach soccer clubs in the world, one of the greatest womens football clubs in Spain and Europe, the greatest roller hockey(traditional sport in the iberian peninsula) club in the world, the greatest mens track and field club in Spain, not to mention history and tradition in other sports such as field hockey,rugby,cycling,greco-roman wrestling, judo and gymnastics
Barcelona has about 368 official trophies in 5 sports in which the club has professional teams(football, basketball, handball, futsal and roller hockey),not including regional catalan competitions and friendly tournaments like the Joan Gamper Trophy in pre-season.About 276 national trophies, about 80 european trophies of which 39 are the top european Cups in each of these sports(Champions Leagues, basketball EuroLeague)About 12 other international trophies like the World Clubs Cups in football and handball or the intercontinental Cup in basketball
RIP Sir Bobby
