Great with both feet, excellent in the air, could score a wide variety of goals, always worked well with his strike partners throughout his career, was very unselfish, especially for a striker, never stopped trying (same as most Germans to be fair), could raise his game for the big tournaments. His only weakness to speak of is that he wasn't as skilful on the ball as other great players but he more than made up for that with the stuff I mentioned.

I've never understood trainers who have the best goalscorer in the world and, instead of building the team around him, play him in a system that doesn't suit his style.
