    Jamie, you're a legend.
    You always make things super easy and with my first baby strapped to me, ease of prep and nutrition are very important to me.
    I love your recipes.

    I throw the pits in my backyard for the birds and squirrels to feast on. If you don't have a ripe mango but are dying to eat it, you can still serve it with salt and a little bit of lime juice. That's what we call in Colombia "mango biche" and it's deeelicious!

    Yes. So much Yes.
    Thank you Jaime, we need more videos like this. Simple, to the point, "this is how you do this basic thing" videos. Stuff you might be embarrassed to ask like "How do you cut a pineapple", "How to open an avocado", or "How to prepare a mango".
    It can be that one simple step between "I'm going to try this dish/app/desert", and "That looks too hard, I'll try something else".
    Well done you.

    just saying, the best method is to remove the 2 sides (like you did) but without slicing them to 3 parts
    after removing them, slice the flesh itself (don't go through the skin) with 2~4 lines usually (depending on what you like) from top to bottom and same from left to right, then just push the middle of the mango up (from the bottom) and you could eat it straight from the peel, cube by cube (and you also get to scratch the inside of the peel which is a bit fibery but insanely delicious!)
    but the seed is always the chef's treat ;)

    I remember in malaysia all we'd do is cut around the seed, so that there's 2 sides and a middle piece. Then we'd cut columns and rows into the side pieces, and just push them out (so it looks like a hedgehog) and eat them off the skin. The seed was just, well, messy. :D

      Riiw9 I would think it depends on the type of mango. A safe bet though would be to feel if the mango is a little soft. Colour is unreliable because some are red when ripe and some are even yellow or green.

      Really? I find it more weird that you've never done it yourself actually. Just like apples, pears, and a myriad of other fruits, some people eat the them the way they are while others prepare it beforehand. If you're preparing a fancy meal or a simple salad you can't just stick the whole mango in there, you have to peel and slice it in smaller chunks.

      @abouttime837 9 років тому

      well it's kinda dofferent. instead of lengthwise you'd want to cut width-wise (so if you cut an avocado in this way the two cuts would look circular from the top) . something that would make it look like you cut your fruit into two cups instead of the shallow bowls avocado is usually cut into. but with a mango instead of an avocado (I don't know how to describe the cut in text form but it would be so easy if it was in person or a video)
