for solution 4, in the scene with the hammer, assuming tree didn’t want to kill the killer for whatever reason, she could just have pulled the mask off instead of running away and she would have known who the killer was.
The reason she kept dying was because she kept trying to do different things in order to find out who the killer was. If the days are practically identical, what she should have done was make some preparations during the day, but at night do the exact same thing as a previous day up to the point where things went wrong. Knowing how and when the killer would attack would give her a huge advantage in setting up an ambush.
One of my first thoughts was "she's in fucking Louisiana, she could buy a gun _literallt anywhere," I can't believe this solution never came up. Even if she couldn't figure out how to use it, just find a shooting range or some gun group that meets around 9:30, and bam you're surrounded by armed people and are armed yourself

Best theory I've heard yet. Another thing no one has noticed is it doesn't matter how she dies for the loop to reset. Yeah the whole thing starts because the roommate tries to kill her, but merely dying resets it, which means it is entirely possible that anytime she may die, that day will repeat itself. for solution 4, in the scene with the hammer, assuming tree didn’t want to kill the killer for whatever reason, she could just have pulled the mask off instead of running away and she would have known who the killer was.
The reason she kept dying was because she kept trying to do different things in order to find out who the killer was. If the days are practically identical, what she should have done was make some preparations during the day, but at night do the exact same thing as a previous day up to the point where things went wrong. Knowing how and when the killer would attack would give her a huge advantage in setting up an ambush.
One of my first thoughts was "she's in fucking Louisiana, she could buy a gun _literallt anywhere," I can't believe this solution never came up. Even if she couldn't figure out how to use it, just find a shooting range or some gun group that meets around 9:30, and bam you're surrounded by armed people and are armed yourself

Best theory I've heard yet. Another thing no one has noticed is it doesn't matter how she dies for the loop to reset. Yeah the whole thing starts because the roommate tries to kill her, but merely dying resets it, which means it is entirely possible that anytime she may die, that day will repeat itself.
It could be completely coincidental that it happened on her birthday. I haven't seen the sequel yet so will have to see how much more it explains.
