    Is your garage door making a squeaky noise? After watching this video, you’ll know all the tips and tricks to properly lubricate your garage door like a pro! This garage door maintenance should be performed every six months, or as recommended by your garage door supplier.
    - Remove any cars from the garage.
    - Make sure the garage door is closed and disengage the door from the opener for safety.
    - Use a white lithium grease based lubricant to lubricate all the hinges, springs, bearings, rollers, and pivot points, as shown in this video. See below for some links to good garage door lubricants.
    - Don’t oil the tracks. Rather, clean them using a rag.
    - Once these simple tasks are completed, simply open and close the garage door a couple of times to work the lubricant in all the moving parts.

    Just want to say, thanks for bringing to my attention the track. I pretty religiously lube all components to keep her running smoother. Noticed recently is was actuating a little jerky jerky, so I searched for a demo on YT (led me here), and realize I never lube the track. Laid a good application of lube on the tracks and she’s buttery smooth. Thanks!

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  7 років тому +2

      Thanks Todd! As usual, your input and comments are always appreciated. And yup, that's one of the main reasons for this video, is to educate people on the proper steps to take and more importantly, how easy it actually is to perform yourself as a nice DIY 5 minute project. With only one tool really needed (white lithium grease or a dedicated garage door lubricant) it makes a world of a difference on the smooth operation of the garage door.
      As many "car guys" are on my channel, I think this video will benefit them directly. ;)

    Thank you. I literally did the exact opposite on the door at my new home. Growing up our tracks were always heavily greased, and my new home had a brand new door installed that was LOUD and extremely squeaky and all that. I bought a tube of garage door grease and hit the tracks only, and nothing changed. Defeated, I gave up in anger. I just opened it again and I had to find out what exactly to lube. I'm not sure why I didn't think to spray the hinges and whatnot. Sounds much better.

    In watching Garage Door installers they say to not lubricate the spring where it connects to the cones. It is best to stay an inch or so away. It could cause the spring to slip on the cones. One other point is I’m not sure why you are lubing the contact points for the set screws that hold the cones and spools on the bar.

    Thanks for the how-to. I still have a bit of a catch when closing. I looked at the inside of the rails and and I see a bit of stress shininess that coincides when the door snags. Do you have a video on how to adjust the roller clamps (?) for realignment? And how much play should there be? Sorry for all the questions. (Debbie)
